1978 Porsche 930 Turbo Coupe 2-door 3.3l on 2040-cars

Year:1978 Mileage:54669

1.  I’m selling my 1978 Porsche 930 turbo.  I have owned the car since 1986.  When I bought the car from a private party I was informed that the mileage on the odometer was not guaranteed to be accurate, mainly because the car is a “Grey Market” car shipped from Germany to United States.  Currently the odometer reads 54,669, which most likely represents the miles driven in the United States. I drove the car about 15,000 miles. The car should be considered as a project car.  It has been garaged since 1992.  Back in 1992 it was blowing the fuse for the fuel pump and leaking some oil and I intended to get it fixed but one thing lead to another and it just sat there.  Title is clean, and I own the car free and clear.  It was inspected and approved by Washington State Patrol when I bought it and is tagged accordingly, Control number 57332.  Here’s a list of flaws and defects I know of.  There may be more that I’m unaware of.

·        Clutch does not engage, it was working fine in 1992 but now when you push the pedal it doesn’t engage and feels “spongy”.

·        Car doesn’t roll easily; I think the disc brakes may be sticking some.

·        Driver window stuck down, it blew the window fuse when I tried to roll it up.  Worked fine in 1992

·        Passenger door won’t open.  Linkage seems to be stuck.  Again opened fine in 1992

·        Oil cooler, located near front right wheel is leaking slowly.

·        Engine leaks oil or something leaking near engine compartment.  Car has been sitting in the same spot for a number of years so I know its leaking by oil stain on garage floor.

·        Front hood spring doesn’t hold up hood, must place something to keep it up.

·        Engine did turn over fine back in 1992, but I haven’t tried to turn over recently because I don’t want to cause any damage.

·        Car was originally light blue in color, was painted charcoal grey before I owned it.  There are a few very small spots where blue is showing through.

·        Slight scratches on front right of car.

·        Crack in paint on rear left of car.

·        Front spoiler rubber shows wear.

·        Small rust spot on front right near headlight.

·        Seats show some wear in places.

·        I’m missing one of rear floor mats.

NYT profiles Blue Nelson, a reclusive and interesting CA car collector

Thu, 25 Sep 2014

If it weren't for his Dale Earnhardt Sr. looks, Blue Nelson could be one one of those soft-spoken, nondescript guys whom you meet briefly and never learn much more about. However, as The New York Times shows in a recent profile and video, behind closed doors, Nelson keeps a fascinatingly eclectic collection of automotive oddities and vintage bicycles.
While his main career is in the movie industry, Nelson's other job is as a car hunter. He takes on clients searching for a specific model and helps them find and restore the dream vehicle that they're after. Hiring him takes some dedication, though, because Nelson doesn't advertise his services. "If people want to find me, they know how to find me," he says in the video.
Beyond being an automotive private detective, Nelson has a fantastically varied collection of vehicles of his own. He likes to have models that people don't usually see, and his garage holds a classic Chrysler New Yorker and an extremely rare Rometsch convertible. Although, the one that means the most to him is the 1962 Porsche 356 convertible that Blue came home in as a baby. Check out the video to learn more about Nelson and his philosophy about forming a bond with a car.

Are you the Porsche Pajun?

Mon, 17 Nov 2014

The prospect of Porsche building a smaller version of the Panamera has been an on-again, off-again proposition as the German automaker seems to go back and forth on the project. Last we heard, Porsche had pushed back the so-called Pajun (shorthand for Panamera Junior) until 2019 at the earliest, but we could be looking at it right here.
The automaker's everything-but-automotive division Porsche Design is working on a luxury condo complex called (simply enough) Porsche Design Tower. It's been three years in the making and will take at least another year or two to complete, but the gist of it is that the 57-floor building will include 132 apartments, each with its own en-suite garage in which the residents' cars will be parked thanks to giant elevators.
Porsche Design released a series of renderings showing what the property will look like once complete. Most of the renderings feature Porsches, of course - production models you can find in any of the brand's showrooms, like the one just 23 miles away in Coral Gables. But one of the renderings of the giant glass elevators shows something rather unusual.

Nick Murray's problematic Porsche 911 shows the power of a viral video

Fri, 18 Apr 2014

When Nick Murray took delivery of his 2013 Porsche 911 Carrera S in June 2013, he had saved for it for the past five years. He didn't just pluck a random 911 off a dealer lot. He specially ordered his car with thousands of dollars in extras tailored just to him, and he captured all of the options on his YouTube channel. The love affair didn't last long. Eventually the channel became a place for Nick to air his growing list of grievances about his deteriorating 911. Eventually, his mix of righteous indignation and sarcasm went viral.
By late December, he had already had four warranty repairs done on the car. Things got much worse in March. The computers began resetting whenever Nick drove over large bumps. There was also an acrid, electrical smell that occasionally permeated the cabin. Murray filed for Lemon Law protection. Porsche Cars North America contacted him for the first time to fix the problem, but it didn't help.
Things culminated in April when Murray put up a new video that showed more troubles. He began arbitration with Porsche and asked for either his full purchase price back or an exact replacement. The company countered with a portion of what the car was worth, based on its mileage. Murray refused and turned to his YouTube watchers for help. He asked them to spread the word, and the video went viral with over 800,000 views as of this writing. Supporters posted it multiple times on Porsche's Facebook and Twitter sites.
