1987 Porsche 930 Cabriolet on 2040-cars

Year:1987 Mileage:73175
Location:

FOR SALE a rare 1987 930 Cabriolet, 73,175k miles. Metallic Silver with a Marine Blue top and leather interior. Originally a California, the previous owner is a doctor in North Carolina where he had the car for 11 years. I purchased the car 2 years ago (72,793 miles) and replaced brakes and rotors all around, completed minor maintenance, detailing, oil change, sourced and installed original Fuchs wheels. A set of 4 turbo twist wheels and tires go with the car as part of the deal. Car is very quick, motor runs great, dry underneath, clutch does not slip, power top, windows, door locks, seats, electronic heater controls all work great. AC blew cool when I purchased the car but blowing warm now, likely needs a charge. Records going back to 87 show most work done over the years including engine, trans, clutch work along with replacing the convertible top and installation of a stainless steel exhaust.

Family commitments, very little time to drive this amazing car, means the car must go. Before bidding be aware there is an outstanding loan balance, in good standing, on this vehicle held by my credit union. The amount still owed on the car is far less that the selling price. I will work with the buyer and the credit union to quickly sign over the title on receipt of purchase funds.

Leno buys classic Porsche 356 Carrera 2, seeks out and finds perfect expert for help

Mon, 19 Aug 2013

The world of collector cars is fairly tight-knit when you get down to individual models. Need proof? Just take a look at this latest video from Jay Leno's Garage. The subject is a gorgeous 1963 Porsche 356 Carrera 2. Jay, being known as quite a collector, got a call from someone looking to sell. While doing his due diligence and looking for a 356 expert to go over the car with him, he came across John Willhoit.
Where the story gets weird is when Leno is asked the license plate number - it turns out that Willhoit, owner of Willhoit Restorations, had restored the exact same car more than 30 years prior. He then sold it to the same person that was looking to give it to Leno. What follows is a truly interesting video on the little quirks of the 356, along with Willhoit's personal history on a car he hadn't seen since 1976.
This is a bit more mechanically detailed than Leno's normal videos, but it's on a very interesting subject. Take a look below for the entire film.

Porsche 911 Carrera 4S named Motor Trend Best Driver's Car [w/video]

Thu, 22 Aug 2013

Motor Trend has named the 2013 Porsche 911 Carrera 4S its best driver's car for 2013. The annual
competition for the title included some of the best performance cars that have gone on sale in the past year. The new C4S follows the 2012 Best Driver's Car award winner, a two-wheel-drive Carrera S.
Determining the winner of the coveted title isn't easy. Each vehicle is pushed through Motor Trend's normal battery of instrumented tests. Editors then spend time with each car over a 500-mile tour of mixed conditions before a final batch of testing at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca, with pro racer Randy Pobst at the wheel.

Porsche tells 2014 911 GT3 owners to park their cars pending inspection

Thu, 20 Feb 2014

Porsche may have have a serious problem on its hands. After a rumored five 2014 911 GT3 coupes caught fire in recent weeks, Porsche launched an investigation and stopped delivering its road-ready racecar until it could diagnose the problem. Now, it has issued a press release asking all 2014 911 GT3 owners to immediately stop driving their cars until they can be inspected. Porsche is offering to pick up the cars from owners' homes and take them to the nearest dealer.
Porsche confirms that the at least two 911 GT3 coupes them have caught fire in Europe, and it has elected to inspect all 785 2014 GT3s worldwide. However, it claims no drivers have been injured in the fires. Unfortunately, Porsche says, "Internal studies to determine the cause of the engine damage have not been completed yet," so owners might have a bit of a wait before they are able to drive Porsche's ultimate 911 again. Scroll down to read the entire press release.
