The 2005 Carrera S wasn't just a performance package on the standard 911, it made it a higher tier car. Coming from
factory with a bigger 3.8-liter engine, Porsche Stability Management technology, larger brakes with red calipers,
19" wheels, Bi-Xenon headlights, a sports steering wheel, and aluminum interior trim were all additions included in
the 911S. There is a significant difference in the standard Carrera from overall performance to future resell
value.
2005 is a pivotal year in the 911's history. This is the debut of the 997 redesign that bought the 911 back to an
appearance closer to the original. In fact, the fascia proved so popular, it's hard for many to tell the difference
between this one and a brand new 911 coupe. I am very picky about the level of care and maintenance which shows in
that the car feels and looks almost new. Just take some time to look at the Arctic Silver Metallic paint. It's a
timeless color on a German sports car, and so when it's maintained this well, the Porsche becomes ageless. This is
a garage kept car, driven in fair weather. The paint and body as well as the 19-inch Carrera S wheels look amazing
with Carrera S wide body stance. The look of a new 911 at a fraction of the price.
Porsche interiors are durable and finely crafted. With just the tight amount of shiny alloy, it's not overly
flashy, and instead gives the impression of high-quality materials and craftsmanship that is worthy of the price.
The black leather bucket seats are engineered to both keep you planted in the corners and comfortable on long
trips. This is loaded with automatic climate control, keyless entry/alarm, cruise control, sunroof, and power
everything. Because this is a modern classic, you also get modern safety features such as front airbags, side
airbags, and anti-lock brakes. But even with the premium upgrades, this one continues all the great 911 traditions.
So the ignition key still goes on the left, and the tachometer gets the most prominent placement as the largest
gauge that boldly sits in the center.
The Carrera S liquid-cooled 3.8-liter flat-six brought a significant power upgrade in 2005 with 355 horsepower and
295 pounds of torque. This coupe has its original motor, and just like the rest of the car, you can instantly tell
it has been well cared for. You know this from its average of less than 3,500 miles per year, the overall condition
of the car shows in its driving and look. This 911 is great for a daily driver to hammering down the backroads. The
Porsche 911 is one of the best engineered sports cars around. You can see it in the details, like the flat
underbelly for improved aerodynamics. You feel it on the road with an exceptionally well balanced suspension
(especially for a rear-engine car.) This car needs nothing and is ready for the road. I have added a clear bra
for protecting the paint as well as tinted windows and all weather mats. I have original mats that are like new
and will be included. I have also added the LED lighting upgrade to the front driving lights for a great look and
safety. The remainder of the car is completely stock and well maintained. There are no leaks or issues and has
always been well maintained. I have owned 911s for 20 years and currently own 3 Porsches and keep my cars right
and in great condition.

Porsche 919 Hybrid revives Porsche's factory Le Mans efforts

Tue, 04 Mar 2014

After months of teasing with camouflaged testers, Porsche has finally unveiled its prototype entry for the 2014 World Endurance Championship, the 919 Hybrid. Porsche, you may recall, hasn't had campaigned a factory team at Le Mans in years, so the 919 is nothing less than their recommitment to endurance racing.
Combining a 2.0-liter V4 (yes, a V4) that revs to 9,000 rpm, the 919 produces around 500 horsepower with a pair of energy recovery systems. The first system recovers the heat energy from exhaust gasses as they pass through an electrical generator, while the second system is a bit more familiar. Using a setup similar to what is found on the production 918 Spyder, a generator on the front axle recovers kinetic energy from the brakes, which is subsequently stored in a battery system. That power can then be sent to the front wheels at the driver's command, effectively turning the 919 into an all-wheel-drive racecar.
Despite these various forms of motivation, Porsche doesn't claim to be seeking outright power supremacy, with Chairman Matthias Müller saying, "In 2014, it will not be the fastest car that wins the World Endurance Championship series and the 24 hours of Le Mans, rather it will be the car that goes the furthest with a defined amount of energy. And it is precisely this challenge that carmakers must overcome. The 919 Hybrid is our fastest mobile research laboratory and the most complex race car that Porsche has ever built."

2013 Porsche 911 RSR makes official debut

Mon, 01 Apr 2013

Porsche is ready to go racing in 2013, showing off a new 911 RSR today that is scheduled to compete in several endurance events this year. Based on the current 991 911, the new RSR will compete in the 2013 season of the World Endurance Championship and the 24 Hours of Le Mans. It will not, however, make an appearance in a North American racing series this year.
The 2013 version of the racecar has increased in wheelbase by some four inches, features a new wishbone front suspension in place of the last-generation's McPherson strut setup and boasts a new, lightweight six-speed racing gearbox. The engine, meanwhile, is an "optimized" version of last year's car, a 460-horsepower 4.0-liter boxer six-cylinder. Extensive use of carbon fiber and polycarbonate windows help the RSR shed weight, and Porsche has also balanced the weight more evenly with a lower center of gravity.
Porsche has thoughtfully dedicated some space to celebrate the 911's 50th Anniversary, with the number 50 clearly visible in the top-down view of the RSR, as well as along the doors. Scroll down to read the full Porsche press release, below.

Infiniti cribs new US boss from Porsche

Mon, 19 Aug 2013

Just weeks before he was supposed to become CEO of Porsche Cars Australia, Infiniti has apparently offered Porsche COO and Executive Vice President Michael Bartsch a deal he couldn't refuse. Thus, Bartsch has join the company as Vice President of Infiniti Americas, the luxury marque's top North American post. Bartsch replaces Ben Poore, who has been with the automaker since 2008, having led both a 22-percent sales surge in 2012 and the brand's current sales slough, Automotive News reports.
Bartsch, Porsche's No. 2 US executive, has held the COO and Executive Vice President positions at Porsche since 2005 and was scheduled to become CEO of Porsche's Oz division on September 1. Infiniti has experienced a number of recent personnel changes in the past week: it named Vincent Gillet, formerly an executive for Starwood Hotels & Resorts, to lead its marketing efforts worldwide and Simon Cox, a former designer for automakers including Ford and Peugeot, to head a new design studio in London.
Poore reportedly will pursue other interests outside of the auto industry. Read more about the personnel change in the press release below.
