Selling this project that never got started.

I have the glass (no cracks), most of the trim, gauges, seats, original wheels, gas tank, wiper motor and arm assembly, original Hella lenses, rear seats, engine lid louvers, and all of what I would call the major parts. Some of the smaller parts are new repro or NOS, like some trim pieces, some lenses, a Bosch distributor, and some other miscellaneous stuff.  Motor and drivetrain are original and complete.

Rockers and floor are totally shot. Lots of surface rust throughout interior metal.  The last (original) owner started to do some patch work and didn't do a good job; it has to be redone. Doors, window channels, roof, engine lid are decent. nose is fair. trunk lid (in front) is rough. Door hinges are good and with no door sag. I think most if not all of the metal needs attention, but certainly not beyond restoration.

As far as I know, the car drove up until about 1985 when it was put in a garage where it sat until I took ownership in 2012. It deteriorated quite a bit as the garage it sat in was not suitable for storing a car.

I am more interested in a roadster than a hardtop. I was going to chop the top off but couldn't bring myself to butcher a restorable car of this stature, so I'm sadly letting it go in search of something else.

I'll be happy to answer any questions or send additional photos.

*UPDATE - I stated in the description that "Motor and drivetrain are original and complete".  After being asked to provide the body VIN and Engine ID,  I realized that I never actually researched it myself and just took the word of the previous (original) owner of the car.  I did not verify that it is in fact the original 1964 engine in the car.  I did some research but the numbers I found were inconclusive.  Body ID is 128304.   Engine ID 733213.   I do not want to misrepresent what is here, so please check for yourself and make you own conclusions.

Race Recap: 2014 24 Hours of Le Mans defines 'endurance'

Mon, 16 Jun 2014

Commenting on the rush of events that rocked beginning and end of the 24 Hours of Le Mans, Paul Truswell of Radio Le Mans said "the race is about the ability to endure, not just the ability of drivers to do what they do for a long time." The entire race machine, all the way down to the pit boards and radios, has to survive the stress and abuse of the entire day. This was the race to prove those words.
There were two Toyotas, two Porsches and three Audis, five of the seven led the race at some point, six of the seven ran in the top three. Toyota will be hugely disappointed that it didn't win when its car and drivers were so, so strong, but they gave Audi the kind of scare we haven't seen since the best of Peugeot's days, and Toyota did a better job of it even in the loss. Porsche blew away everyone's expectations, falling 3.5 hours short of a fairy tale ending that would have made Disney cry.
But Le Mans doesn't really do fairy tales. Well, not that fairy tale. Audi's Twitter handle during the event was #welcomechallenges. As usual, Le Mans answered for the entire field.

Porsche 911 celebrates 50 years of iconic motoring

Tue, 10 Sep 2013

Back in 1963, Porsche debuted the very first 911 at the Frankfurt Motor Show. And over the last 50 years, that coupe has grown to become one of the most iconic sports cars of all time. That in mind, you could easily chalk up this 50th Anniversary model as just one of the many special edition 911s that have graced our roads over the years, but dig a bit deeper and you'll see that this one is far more than just some unique paint and different wheels.
For starters, the 911 50th Anniversary Edition utilizes the wider Carrera 4/4S body, but retains its standard rear-wheel-drive configuration. Power comes from the Carrera S' 3.8-liter flat-six engine, but features a Powerkit upgrade that includes the Sport Chrono package and ups overall output to 400 horsepower and 430 pound-feet of torque. Hitting 60 miles per hour takes just 3.8 seconds if the car is fitted with Porsche's dual-clutch PDK gearbox, or 4.2 seconds if you choose the row-your-own seven-speed manual. Talk about going Over The Hill with a quickness.
Despite looking pretty tame, we're really hot on the appearance of this special 911, with its throwback flat gray paint job and new 20-inch wheels that look remarkably similar to the original Fuchs alloys of the 1963 model. Inside, you'll find green lettering on the instrument displays, white pointer needles and silver accents, and the leather seats have a fabric insert that's similar to the Pepita cloth from the original 911.

LaFerrari, McLaren P1, Porsche 918 and Agera R take to Assen

Tue, 10 Jun 2014

It's the show-down (sort of) we've all been waiting for. The battle of the hybrid hypercars from the performance powerhouses of Europe: Ferrari LaFerrari, McLaren P1 and Porsche 918 Spyder. No one publication has managed to get their hands on all three just yet, but this video has - and with a Koenigsegg Agera R thrown in for good measure.
The video was shot by our (unrelated) Dutch compatriots at Autoblog.nl at the TT Circuit Assen in the Netherlands. The track has played host to Champ Cars and all manner of racing bikes, but this could be the ultimate grid of actual production machinery that's ever lined up behind its start/finish line. Shame the weather was rainy and this unsurpassed array of supercars weren't really racing - more showing off for the crowds. But what a show it was. Scope out the footage in the video below.
