1957 Porsche 356 A on 2040-cars

I bought this car from a friend who decided to sell his 10 year project , my intent was to make a 356 Outlaw , clearly this could go either way , I ended up with a 356 Notch so will sell this , It is hard to find an A that has good metal work , this one was repaired by a well known panel beater so floor, longitudnals , battery box , door bottoms are done well , no rust on any suspension points , the doors , lids all fit well , paint was done later and I would repaint to make it perfect , there are some flaws , included is a 912 motor or a non matching A motor , both will need rebuilds , included are most of the parts ,gauges , bumper brackets , fiberglass bumpers , overriders , interior , Fuches wheels , C disc brakes , these two items would cost about 5K , Good start of a project without the agony of pans etc , the closure panels behind the front wheels were done many years ago and could stand to be redone to make perfect . I would prefer to show car in person so I can show highlights and flaws , I have a shop for my private cars and do not take on others but could recommend shops I use .
Again hard to find a 356A that is not rusty and or has shoddy pan work etc , if you want a nice A this would be a great start when you consider rust buckets are bringing 40K if you don't want disc brakes I think I have a set of drum brakes as well . mileage is unknown but ebay requires a number |

2014 Porsche Panamera Turbo S is a 911 Turbo for the family man
Thu, 21 Nov 2013In the event that the Porsche Panamera Turbo's 520 horsepower and 189-mile-per-hour top speed aren't enough to sate the appetite of the speed freak, Porsche has just given the auto show debut to the faster, more powerful Panamera Turbo S.
With 570 horsepower being pumped from a 4.8-liter, twin-turbocharged V8, the Panamera Turbo S promises even faster acceleration, hitting 60 mph in 3.6 seconds, a 0.3-second improvement over the standard Turbo. The top speed, meanwhile, climbs to 192 mph, which is kind of ridiculous for a car with four doors and a trunk.
Other enhancements that come with this Panamera's extra syllable include carbon-ceramic brakes and the entirety of Porsche's active chassis systems, including Porsche Dynamic Chassis Control and Porsche Active Suspension Management. The performance goodies come standard, but that doesn't mean the Panamera Turbo S is cheap.
Magnus Walker turbocharges his love for the Porsche 911
Thu, 31 Oct 2013He's had his fill of early, long-hood Porsche 911s - he owns at least one from each model year, from 1964 to 1973 - so Magnus Walker, a fanatic of the Stuttgart, Germany-based automaker, recently set his sights on the early Porsche 930, as documented by this XCAR video called 'Turbo Fever.' Let us translate: pretty soon Walker will own all of the earliest, non-intercooled 911 Turbos - at least one from each model year, starting at 1975 and ending at 1977 (though the 1975 911 Turbo Carrera never officially was imported to the US by Porsche, so it'll be tougher to find one Stateside).
Any Porsche enthusiast can tell you why they love their car, and it often comes down to the small details that differentiate one model year from another. One of many examples is the mid-'80s 928. They look similar, but the basic difference between a 1984 Porsche 928 S and a 1985 928 S (US-spec) is two camshafts and 54 horsepower, though each car's V8 has its own pros and cons. We'll let Magnus Walker tell you all about the 930 and what makes the first three years special, as he's becoming quite the expert on early, air-cooled 911s. When the nearly 15-minute mini-documentary was filmed, which you can view below, he already had added four early 930s to his collection!
Porsche Cayman GTS in track battle with 996 GT3
Wed, 09 Jul 2014Here's your tough question of the day: Would you rather drive a new Porsche Cayman GTS or a slightly older, 996-era Porsche 911 GT3? Certainly, both cars have their plusses. The Cayman is the more modern proposition, sure, but the GT3 is, well, a GT3. So yes, it's a tough decision.
If you're one of the lucky souls that have to make that choice, then this video from Evo should prove pretty helpful. It's a track battle, starring Jethro Bovingdon with a new GTS and an old GT3.
Calling the GTS "fantastically agile" and "fast, but it's also hilariously good fun," Bovingdon bangs home a solid lap time of 1:05.2 before switching to the GT3. It's remarkable to see just how dated the 996-generation 911 looks after viewing the newer Porsche, and from where we sit, it's further proof that the old car's headlights are something that's best forgotten. Styling qualms aside, though, can the GT3 keep up with its racy younger cousin?
