US $19,000.00
Year:1957 Mileage:3200

Roanoke, Virginia, United States

Coachworks body. Body alone $15,000 new. This is a widebody replica with real 57 windshield and trim. All wheel disk brakes work very well. This car will run up to 75/80 down the Hwy, its more of a cruiser but still runs good, dependable even after sitting for periods of time. I listed the cars flaws above, I drive and enjoy the car, it does have a heavy steal plate that covers the complete underside, very ridged undercarriage. Rides firmly like a go-cart. nibble and very responsive to the road. It has a $470 GPS speedometer with working fuel guage, and nice silver and red dash, the red is cloth. Bango style steering wheel with Porsche logo in the middle. Car has lots of nice suttle details many builders miss including chrome roll bar. U will notice the trunk area has been carpeted as well.  Porsche replica wheels with nice performance tires. Fun car turns heads everywhere it goes. I have a complete build assembly manual that goes with the car as well. The car is titled as a 1976 VW because that was what was used for front and rear suspension. I bought it to drive while restoring another vehicle. Other one is complete so I am selling this one now. Reserve on this car is $18,000 and U can not build it for that. I will be glad to discuss details and send pics of specific areas of the car upon the request of a truly interested party. The car is for sale locally and I reserve the right to end the auction and sell it prior to the reserve being met. Once reserve is met I will not remove it from auction. I do not sell much on here, I am very honest in my representation of this car, and will do the best to get you any info you need. Thank you, Jim A 540-537-2282

Leno buys classic Porsche 356 Carrera 2, seeks out and finds perfect expert for help

Mon, 19 Aug 2013

The world of collector cars is fairly tight-knit when you get down to individual models. Need proof? Just take a look at this latest video from Jay Leno's Garage. The subject is a gorgeous 1963 Porsche 356 Carrera 2. Jay, being known as quite a collector, got a call from someone looking to sell. While doing his due diligence and looking for a 356 expert to go over the car with him, he came across John Willhoit.
Where the story gets weird is when Leno is asked the license plate number - it turns out that Willhoit, owner of Willhoit Restorations, had restored the exact same car more than 30 years prior. He then sold it to the same person that was looking to give it to Leno. What follows is a truly interesting video on the little quirks of the 356, along with Willhoit's personal history on a car he hadn't seen since 1976.
This is a bit more mechanically detailed than Leno's normal videos, but it's on a very interesting subject. Take a look below for the entire film.

Porsche calls in The Committee for Boxster and Cayman GTS

Thu, 20 Mar 2014

Porsche is set to offer up the very first GTS variants of its more affordable Boxster convertibles and Cayman coupes. This is very good news for enthusiasts. Aside from our original post announcing the hotted up models, though, Porsche hasn't given us much to go on.
And you know what? This video isn't much of help either. It's called The Committee, and we're guessing it's meant to highlight the lengths that Porsche went to in designing what are essentially sportier trim levels for its two most affordable entries. Still, it's a stylized and entertaining video with a few entertaining driving scenes scattered throughout, and it gives just a small glimpse of Porsche's view of the vaunted GTS badge.
Take a look below for the full video.

Porsche, Hyundai and GM impress in J.D. Power Initial Quality Study, Fiat and Jeep don't

Wed, 18 Jun 2014

Consumers continue to struggle with the advanced user interfaces and technologies being fitted to new cars, according to the latest J.D. Power Initial Quality Study. Overall, the industry average for problems per 100 vehicles climbed three percent, to 116 issues reported in the first 90 days of ownership.
Vehicles from the General Motors' family were dominant, with Buick, Chevrolet and GMC capturing more individual IQS segment awards than any other manufacturer. Despite its well-publicized issues, six GM vehicles (Buick Encore, Chevrolet Malibu, Chevy Silverado HD, Chevy Suburban, GMC Terrain and GMC Yukon) were given IQS awards for their respective segments.
Hyundai was ranked the best overall mass-market brand, with just 94 issues in every 100 vehicles reported in the first 90 days. Parent Hyundai Motor Company, meanwhile, trailed GM with five vehicles winning their segments, including the Hyundai Accent, Elantra and Genesis, as well as the Kia Cadenza and Sportage.
