I'm selling my 1978 pontiac trans am. I've owned it for 13 years and it has never been winter driven or even driven in the rain. The body and paint are original and the under body is solid and no holes. The interior does need work. It was pulled apart before i bought the car and still hasn't been put back together. I do have many of the interior pieces that could probably be put back inside the car. The original 400 was removed due to internal cracks in the block and the auto transmission was replaced and converted to a 4 speed. It has a 350 pontiac big block engine and a borg warner T-10 close ratio 4 speed tranmission. It does need a shifter hump welded in aswell.

This car has had alot done to it in the last little while including:
-newer vinyl seats front and back
-brand new front subframe mounts
-new motor mounts and transmission mount
-long tube hooker headers with 2.5" exhaust and turbo mufflers
-new comp camshaft and lifter set that is perfect for the street
-new double roller timing chain and gear set
-new waterpump
-new high volume oil pump and pickup
-new oil pan
-new hays steel flywheel
-new hays heavy duty clutch kit
-aluminum 4 barrel intake
-rebuilt holley 600cfm 4 barrel carb
-new high torque mini starter
-new brake master cylinder and proportioning valve
-new richmond 3.42 gears in the rear end with factory posi trac
-new hurst shifter assembly
-new hurst shifter linkage
-new adjustable clutch rod linkage from the clutch pedal to the clutch fork

This car is in very solid shape and would make an excellent project car, really it needs the interior done and maybe a paint job because it's faded. I do have the original hood scoop and fender flares also. The body and underbody are very solid with no holes or rot anywhere. These f-body cars are getting very hard to find now a days especially in good condition. Most of the camaro's and firebird's out there in this era are rotten.

Serious inquiries only please!

GM recalling over 40,000 Chevy, Pontiac and Saturn models over fuel pump woes

Mon, 01 Oct 2012

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has issued a recall for a number of General Motors cars and crossovers bought or currently registered in the hot-climate states of Arkansas, Arizona, California, Nevada, Oklahoma and Texas. As many as 40,859 units consisting of the 2007 Chevrolet Equinox, Pontiac Torrent and Saturn Ion and the 2007-2009 Chevrolet Cobalt (shown) and its Pontiac G5 twin are being recalled for potential fuel leaks.
This recall is being issued due to potentially faulty fuel pump components that can crack and cause gasoline to leak from the return or supply ports and possibly cause a fire. NHTSA has not indicated how many fuel leaks or vehicle fires have been reported. As a fix, GM will replace the fuel pump modules on all affected vehicles free of charge. Since Pontiac and Saturn have been shuttered, owners will be able to go to another GM-brand dealership to have their vehicles repaired.
While the list of affected cars and crossovers varies by state and model year, if you own any of these models and live in Arizona, California, Florida, Nevada, Oklahoma or Texas, be sure to check the official notice below for more details.

CNN chronicles young girl building Pontiac Fiero

Fri, 26 Oct 2012

At fourteen years of age, Kathryn DiMaria has already done what many self-proclaimed gearheads won't even attempt in their lifetimes. The Dearborn, Michigan teen is rebuilding a car from the ground up.
The intrepid youngster asked her parents when she was just twelve to start a Pontiac Fiero project, even offering to pony up all the funds herself. Father, Jerry DiMaria only expected the project to last a few months, but two years later, Kathryn is still at it. In this CNN video, the two are at Maker Faire (a DIY festival) rebuilding a 3.4-liter V6 engine out of a Chevrolet Camaro to replace the 2.8-liter mill found in the Fiero.
The whole family hast pitched in, with Kathryn's mother teaching her how to sew in order to complete the interior, father Jerry providing much of the technical know-how, and even her sister is chronicling Kathryn's progress through photos. Jerry even started a thread in a Fiero forum which has been live for two years and is now 22 pages long. Of the project, one forum member wrote, "welcome to the madness."

General Lee takes on Bandit T/A in classic Hollywood car showdown [w/poll]

Fri, 26 Aug 2011

You don't have to be born in the 1960s or 1970s to be able to recognize the General Lee from The Dukes of Hazzard and the Pontiac Trans Am from Smokey and the Bandit. These old school four-wheeled stars seem to transcend demographics thanks to the miles of film that show the orange 1969 Dodge Charger and the jet-black 1977 Pontiac Trans Am performing seemingly impossible stunts.
The folks at Hot Rod magazine are obviously hip to this fact, and they put together a fun video in tribute of the instantly recognizable duo. Hit the jump to watch on as Sam Young and James Smith replace Bo Duke and The Bandit for a bit of dirt-road shenanigans in a pair of otherwise well cared for classics. We're not so sure we'd call it the best chase scene ever, but it sure looks like a lot of fun.
More importantly, which of these two cars would you rather own? Have your say in our poll below.
