SELLER REMARKS

This 1980 Pontiac Trans Am Pace Car is a car that you can buy today, keep it well maintained, and in a few years you should be able to really increase your investment. These Trans Am Pace Cars have seen a sharp incline in demand in recent years in the collector car marketplace, and now you can lock in a low mileage specimen at a great price.

This Trans Am sports less than 51K miles on the odometer that are believed to be original, and it shows with the clean white body. This car hasn't been restored and the body panels show an original, two tone, gloss Cameo White, and Ontario Gray lacquer paint that you would expect from a 34 year old car that has been pampered its whole life. What helps to make these pace cars so cool are the optional decals that decorate the panels, affirming the heritage this car enjoys of being the car to pace the Indy 500 and Daytona 500. Up top are a couple of removable t-tops that stash away nicely in the trunk so you can enjoy some comfortable sunny day cruising.

Inside, you're greeted by a very comfortable interior that features Oyster vinyl with hobnail inserts. The rear seats are just as plush as the front and feature a Firebird logo embroidered in the center, as well as on the door panels. Facing the driver is a good looking steel milled panel inserted in the dash that surrounds the gauges. And that same machine turned pattern surrounds the shifter mounted in the center console that also houses switches for the power windows. A very cool feature from the driver's seat are the hood mounted turbo lights that inform the driver of 'Normal', 'Medium', or 'High' boost levels from the turbocharged engine. The only upgrade to this car's clean interior is an aftermarket CD player mounted in the dash. There is also air conditioning, heat, cruise control and a tilt wheel in this sports cruiser.

Lift the hood and you'll find the original 4.9 liter turbocharged V8 that rests in a clean engine bay and produces 210 horsepower and 345 lb/ft of torque. Everything remains stock, and the maintenance records included with the sale will verify the care that has been taken with this drivetrain. The engine sends power through a Turbo-Hydramatic 350 3-speed automatic transmission back to a 10 bolt rear end. Coming standard on this car is the famed WS6 suspension package that will keep the rubber planted to the road, as well as power steering and power brakes with disc at all four corners. With force fed induction, these cars are an absolute blast to drive!

Pontiac only made 5,700 of these special edition Trans Ams, and according to the Pontiac Historical Society far less than half remain registered today. With low mileage and great documentation including a dealer invoice, this is certainly a collector. Don't miss out on such a great opportunity. Call today!

GM issues four new recalls, 2.4 million cars affected

Tue, 20 May 2014

General Motors has announced another set of recalls, covering some 2.42 million cars in the United States. For those keeping track, The General has now recalled over 15 million cars worldwide this year due to various issues.
Here's the breakdown for this most recent set of recalls:
1,339,355 - Buick Enclave, Chevrolet Traverse, GMC Acadia models from the 2009 to 2014 model years; Saturn Outlook models from the 2009 to 2010 model years

1939 Pontiac Ghost Car commands $308,000 at auction

Mon, 01 Aug 2011

For the 1939 World's Fair, Pontiac built a Deluxe Six bodied in Plexiglass. Part of the Previews of Progress pavilion in which General Motors' Futurama showed off what was to come in the world of autos, the 'invisible' Pontiac is credited as the first transparent car in America. And there were no shortcuts taken with its body: the Plexiglass form was fabricated by the company that brought the material to market in 1933, Rohm & Haas.
The see-through sedan was sold at RM Auctions' St. John's auction in Michigan on July 30, fetching $308,000. Not bad appreciation for a domestic oddity that cost $25,000 to build when new. You can check out the high-res gallery of its innards, including copper and chrome metalwork and white moldings and wheels, and get the exhaustive details on it after the jump.

eBay Find of the Day: 1967 Pontiac GTO Monkeemobile

Sun, 29 Apr 2012

Say what you will about The Monkees, but the guys in the band had great taste in automobiles. Take the Monkeemobile, for example. Built off a 1967 Pontiac GTO Convertible, the custom featured genuinely interesting bodywork and some wild engine bolt-ons. If you're a fan of 1960s pop and yearn to relive the genre's glory days, eBay Motors may have what you need. A recreation of the 1967 Monkeemobile has showed up for auction. This particular replica was built by Dakota County Customs using an four-speed GTO, just like the original.
Built for the band's 45th anniversary and the final Monkees tour last year, this Monkeemobile is faithful down to every last detail. Unfortunately, the trumpet exhaust poking out of the front fender wells and the massive gold-flake blower are for show only. Seems fitting.
If you like what you see, this machine is up for bid in Richfield, Minnesota with two days left on the auctions. So far, bidding as whipped up to $60,000 with the reserve not met. Head over to eBay Motors to have a look.
