1984 Mercedes 300d Diesel Bio Antique on 2040-cars
Portland, Maine, United States
84 Mercedes 300D. This is an incredibly strong running diesel that I've
run on BIO quite a bit. 287,XXX miles. It's my daily driver and I cart
my 20 month old daughter around in it daily. Very safe and although an
antique, I always have my cars state inspected. The little one is
getting not so little, so the need to upsize means my Benz has to go.
This car has been meticulously maintained and just gracefully made a
900-mile round trip, getting nearly 30mpg.
Hot heat, cold air, operating sun roof, beautiful interior (shocking with a 20 month old), clean trunk, paint still takes a shine with ease. A real head turner, cream puff, beaut, cherry, peach, all of those wonderful things. In all seriousness, this is a safe and great running car that I trust as a daily driver with my family and has never let me down. 4 studded Goodyear snow tires with less than 500 miles on them are also included, they cost me $500 less than 1 year ago. Tow package recently professionally installed and wired, but never used. New parts within the last year or so include, but are not limited to: Great Michelin Tires, rotated and balanced 100 miles ago Recent Alignment Brakes Rotors Suspension Parts Belts Hoses Water Pump Aux. Water Pump Thermostat Glow Plugs & Relay Block Heater Cord Climate Control Unit Blend Door Vacuum Switches Rebuilt Original Radio (tape deck) by orig. manufacturer Becker Autosound with custom, unobtrusive MP3 aux jack (must see to appreciate) Rear Subframe Mounts Rear Diff Mount Proper Diesel Purge Fuel Filers Fuel Lines Vacuum Pump Rebuild Vacuum Lines Steering Box Front License Plate Bracket Power Antenna New Headlamps Orig. Bosch Amber Fog Lamps The not fantastic but not awful: A little rust beginning rear quarters. Speedometer works great, though odometer just gave up the ghost - a $110 quote from speedometers.com for the fix. Some cracks in the dash Seam splitting in the driver's seat Rear power windows are inoperable Rear passenger power lock must be locked/unlocked manually. Car sold as is with no warranty written or implied. Bid with confidence, fly in and driver her home. I'll also help load if you decide to ship. I'm not trying to retire on this sale or complete my child's college fund, just get a start on getting something more suitable for a growing family. Feel free to ask any questions you have and I'll try to answer them to the best of my ability. |

UK workers strand car on island of asphalt to keep working
Wed, 06 Feb 2013Generally speaking, when you illegally park your car, you're likely to get ticketed and towed, but there is probably at least one motorist in Scotland who wishes that was the case. After workers had blocked off a portion of the parking lot for the Edinburgh Waverley railway station, the driver of this Mercedes-Benz S-Class reportedly moved some of the barriers to park in one of the empty spots.
Rather than having the vehicle towed, the work crew simply tore up the asphalt around the leaving just the one parking spot intact, and as you can see in the image above (posted to the Twitter account of Harold Norstad), the crew even built a small asphalt ramp so the car could get off its blacktop pedestal. Since this happened last week, there's no word as to whether the car was eventually moved or towed for the resurfacing work to continue.
Let this be a warning...
Mercedes-Benz CLA45 AMG coming to the New York Auto Show
Tue, 05 Mar 2013Mercedes-Benz showed off the CLA45 AMG at a private event on the eve of the Geneva Motor Show, but was determined not to let it be photographed. We can talk about it, though - after all, a teaser image was released to promote the new Sony game Drive Club. The CLA45 AMG will use the same powertrain as the A45 AMG, which means a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder with 360 horsepower and 332 pound-feet of torque. And that means a small four-door coupe sedan with the highest horsepower-per-liter in the segment. It will shift through the same seven-speed dual-clutch transmission, should also run out of speed at 155 miles per hour and have that three-stage stability control system.
As with its hatch sibling, the CLA is already so aggressive on the outside - and the parent company so anxious not to demolish the sedan's 0.22 coefficient of drag - that not much has been done to the cranked-up CLA. Even the rather thin tires on the standard only get a little less thin on the hotter variant. Inside will be the telltale AMG signs, with lots of red detailing and that flat-bottomed wheel among the giveaways. We'll know more later this month when the wraps come off at the New York International Auto Show.
Mercedes-Benz CLA stars in sweeping short with supermodel Karlie Kloss
Wed, 16 Jan 2013The Mercedes-Benz CLA earned itself a spot on our list of the top five unveils of the 2013 Detroit Auto Show, and for good reason. The German luxury compact is the first small car from the Silver Arrow that looks suitably premium inside and out. Nowness.com has turned out a new video of the CLA featuring super model Karlie Koss in the lead role. We aren't entirely sure what the premise is, but from what we can tell, it looks as if the CLA comes to life and proceeds to be a giant jerk.
After Koss stops to take a closer look at a white horse, the CLA gives the supermodel the old stop-and-go treatment before leaving her on the side of the road. Eventually, the sedan makes nice, but Koss has to ride shotgun instead of taking the controls herself. You can check out the video below to see for yourself.
