1982 Mercedes 300SD Turbo Diesel
IMMACULATE CONDITION!!!!!
Only 2 owners (1st was an elderly lady and I have had it 1.5 yrs)
Looks and runs great! Well maintained.
166,855 miles (barely broke in for this model)

A true classic that shows the quality you get when you buy a Mercedes. Especially this model because they are so durable.

"The OM617 engine family was a straight-5Diesel automobile engine from Mercedes-Benz used in the 1970s and 1980s. It is closely related to the straight-4OM616. Starting in 1978, a turbocharger was fitted to engines used in the 300SD. With some Mercedes-Benz 300D/300SD diesels already exceeding 500,000 miles, and a few nearing 1,000,000, the OM617 is considered to be one of the most reliable engines ever produced, and is one of the key reasons for Mercedes' popularity in North America in the 1980s, as it was economical, relatively quick (compared to most other diesels on the market) and was trouble-free, unlike the Oldsmobile LF9 diesel V8. A Mercedes-Benz W116 or W126 equipped with the OM617 offered a combination of luxury, exclusivity, economy, and reliability that could not be matched by other brands"- Quote from Wikipedia

Mercedes CLA45 AMG Racing is ready for a spot on the grid

Tue, 10 Sep 2013

Mercedes-Benz trotted out its CLA45 AMG-based racer at the 2013 Frankfurt Motor Show. We first showed you the sedan in the deluge of news and reveals that precedes most good auto shows, and were blown away by the car, formally known as the CLA45 AMG Racing Series.
We were strolling by the Mercedes stand, and figured we'd pop in and take a look at the new racer and its carbon-fiber body panels, gutted interior, and race-sourced aero parts. It's a looker, both as a road car and a track weapon. It's not clear what series the CLA45 AMG will qualify for, although it does seem like a shoe-in for the World Touring Car Championship. Let us know what you think of the CLA racer down in the comments. In the meantime, we've got a full gallery of live images up top, along with the stock images that were posted last week on the Mercedes-Benz Facebook page.

Aston or Bust? Maybach's fate to be decided next month

2011 Maybach 62 - Click above for high-res image gallery
What will become of Maybach? That question has been rattling around the halls of Daimler headquarters in Stuttgart for some time now. But all questions will be answered, and answered soon: according to reports, the German automaker is currently evaluating prototypes and propositions for its top-end marque, and will make its decision next month.
So, what are the options? On the one hand, Daimler could kill the Maybach brand altogether. It was a notion ill conceived and even more poorly executed, taking an old platform and building a new flagship atop it. In that way, it was sort of like the Chrysler Crossfire, only far more costly to both the buyer and manufacturer. On the other hand, Daimler could opt for the long-time-coming proposition of contracting the production (and possibly much of the development) of a new generation of Maybachs to Aston Martin.

Carlsson SLK 340 Judd is winged up for hill climb glory

Wed, 06 Mar 2013

Carlsson has been expertly tuning Mercedes-Benz products for more than 20 years now, but we can't say as we remember the outfit turning out anything quite so racy as this SLK 340 Judd that it has brought along to the Geneva Motor Show this year.
This SLK is meant for competition, obviously, and Carlsson has already booked the car to race in several hill climb events in the E1 category. The purpose-built racer should have a fighting chance to do well in said races, with a shape vetted in wind tunnel testing for maximum downforce, the SLK uses a carbon-fiber bodyshell to help achieve a curb weight of just about 1,720 pounds.
The featherweight SLK's name comes from its 3.4-liter V8 engine, which churns out a wicked 610 horsepower to go with its 317 pound-feet of torque. A Hewland transmission with paddle shift operation manages all of the thrust.
