I bought this wag about two years ago for my 16 year old to learn how to drive in.  We just sold my 18 year olds wag and now the 16 year old wants something newer to drive as well.  This one has taken a lot of work to make it road worthy.  The motor was rebuilt by a local machine shop and has about 1,000 miles on it.  The battery, carburetor, alternator, thermostat, radiator, hoses, belts, fan clutch, tires, distributor (HEI), water pump, shocks, steering gear, fuel pump, starter, and some stuff I am sure I am forgetting are all new within the last two years. I like to play with old jeeps so it made sense to make one mechanically sound and let him learn in a heavy, safe car that could take a hit.  I did the same for my 18 year old with a different wag and it has worked well.

What does not work - the a/c, cruise control.  The power locks lock well but struggle to unlock. The back window does not work from the key switch but works very well from the dash switch.  The rest of the windows work, front ones well and the rear ones slow.  The body has scratches and dents and rust spots.  I tried to show it all in the pictures but I think the pictures still make it look better than it looks in person.  I guess these old wags are photogenic.  The interior is in really good shape as the pictures show.  The carpet in the back corners is dry rotting though.

the wag has a high capacity gas tank that holds about 28 to 30 gallons installed by the previous owner.  4WD works and this car did very well in the snow last year.  When driven regularly it starts easily and runs well at operating temperature but I can not seem to get the choke set correctly so it does not run well until it is wormed up.

If you have any questions please ask.  If you have zero feedback please contact me before you bid.  I would like a $500 deposit via paypal within 24 hours of the auction close.  Balance is due when the jeep is picked up.  You have two weeks to pick it up unless we agree ahead of time on something else.  I will accept cash or paypal only.  If, when you come to get the jeep you feel that it has been misrepresented I will refund you $400 of your deposit back.  The jeep is being sold as is where is and shipping is the responsibility of the buyer.  I will be happy to work with your shipper if you choose not to come and get it yourself.

YouTube tallies votes for this year's top five Super Bowl spots [w/video]

Tue, 19 Feb 2013

When we asked you to tell us which of this year's 16 car-themed Super Bowl commercials you liked best, you chose the Farmer commercial from Chrysler Group, advertising the Ram trucks, over Audi's Prom commercial in second place. Turns out the voters in YouTube's Ad Blitz poll agreed, voting the same commercial to the number one spot from among the field commercials in every category.
From there, however, they went in a totally different direction. Budweiser's The Clydesdales spot came second, Samsung's The Next Big Thing took third. The Jeep Whole Again ad scored fourth in the YouTube poll, fifth in our poll of auto commercials, and the Hyundai Team spot got fifth from the YouTubers, but ninth in our poll.
The voting results don't match up with the viewing numbers, though - while Farmer has more than 13 million views, The Next Big Thing is well beyond 21 million. You can read the press release below and see all five spots, lined up for you, one more time.

Jeep Renegade gets Riptide and Frostbite customs at SEMA

Wed, 05 Nov 2014

The cute little Jeep Renegade isn't even on sale yet, but here at SEMA, the Mopar folks are giving us a taste of what's possible for the little CUV in the big wide world of customization. Part of Fiat Chrysler Automobiles' massive SEMA spread, the Renegade shows up in fresh Riptide and and Frostbite guises.
First up, the Riptide arrives in Vibrance Grandeur Blue with black wheels and a big ol' Jeep Performance Parts logo on the rear pillar. There are a few black accents elsewhere on the exterior, and a surfboard carrier rides up on the roof. The blue color scheme also finds its way inside the Renegade, on the instrument cluster and side panels, with contrasting white accents.
By contrast, the Frostbite Renegade reverses the Riptide's color scheme, with white being the main paint of choice, with blue accents abound. And inside, Katzkin seats wear blue upholstery. The Frostbite is a pretty functional creation, as well, with a Mopar ski/snowboard roof rack and a Jeep Performance Parts rock rail guard.

Jeep team takes a field trip to Wagonmaster; researching next Grand Wagoneer?

Fri, 01 Feb 2013

They have the very best intentions of rolling out a seven-passenger vehicle.
Wagonmaster has made a name for itself restoring and selling factory-perfect Jeep Grand Wagoneer models, bridging the gap between when the last production machine rolled off the line in 1991 and present day. The company's efforts haven't gone unnoticed. The entire Jeep product planning team took a little field trip to the company's facility in Kerrville, Texas back in December, and they weren't just there to take in the sights. According to owner Leon Miller's son, Chip Miller, the Jeep team was there to do research for the successor to the Grand Wagoneer throne.
