Feel free to ask me any questions about the car : yajairahinze@juno.com .2nd owner, bought car in 1993 with about 59,300 miles on it. I am only person to drive the car after purchase.
Have driven the car on weekends. This is the 3rd Series 3 that I have owned. Replaced many parts on the car, not
because they were broken, but because working on it was a hobby. As much as possible, all original equip has been
used on car since purchase. Decided to do some restoration in 2004, so car was not driven for several years. Car
has been driven less than 300 miles since down to the metal prep and painted original regency red. Doors
disassembled & inside painted, new glass guides/rubber, window & latch hardware reworked, If an item was removed
to access something else, then the removed item was often replaced during reassembly. Ron Davis alum radiator with
fans, car cools, even in 95 degrees - factory radiator/fans come with car. Stainless exhaust (has 73 style tips,
sorry). Engine was refreshed, new bearings, valve job, new timing chain components. The rear main engine seal was
leaking slightly, so just rebuilt the motor when replacing the seal including new engine seals and gaskets. New
wiring harness forward of firewall. Rebuilt starter. Gas tank removed and cleaned, replaced gauge/gaskets.
Replaced fuel pump with factory type. New shocks front and rear with new springs on rear. New master cylinder. New
heater box & controls. New parking brake cable, new accelerator cable, new brake and accelerator pedals, New
reservoir bottles for clutch and brake fluid. New clutch, pressure plate & clutch controls. Rebuilt transmission
when motor was out, new syncs, new jack shaft etc. New brake pads, including parking brake. New front wheel
bearings, ball joints, tie rod ends, amplifier is after market that works when hot, Working ORIGINAL radio. All
gauges work. Leather on seats is not perfect, but not worn. Remainder of cabin is in excellent condition. New
carpet, even in the rear area of cabin. All chrome on exterior is new or has been re-chromed in past 3 years -
even the chrome on top of windshield posts. Wire Dayton wheels are new but match factory (spare wheel and tire are
original) New windshield with rubber. New canvas soft top with all rubber. Newly painted hard top with car, good
rubber & chrome, headliner needs attention, but not loose. Converted to full synthetic engine oil, transmission
grease and Dot 5 brake fluid.
The items listed above are not all that has been done to the auto, just some of them. Known issues, the AC was not
recharged after the paint job The frame and some of under carriage was not repainted, but was cleaned as
mechanical work completed. Bit of work would turn this car into a show car or it is great driver - though its
excellent condition might make someone afraid to take it into traffic

Has the Jaguar XKR-S Sportbrake leaked out early?

Sun, 23 Feb 2014

Want to haul ass down the Autobahn with the whole family and all their gear in tow? Forget that Porsche Cayenne or Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT8 - what you'll want is a power wagon: something like an Audi RS6 Avant or Mercedes-Benz E63 AMG Estate. Unfortunately there are precious few of these performance station wagons on the market anywhere, especially with American offerings like the Cadillac CTS-V Sport Wagon on its way out and the Dodge Magnum SRT8 long gone. But there's a new challenger emerging.
That'd be the Jaguar XFR-S Sportbrake, a hi-po estate from Coventry that's been a long time in the making. And now it's apparently almost here. (Only by "here," we mean "there," as it's not likely ever to come to the United States.)
Apparently set to be unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show is a Frankenstein-style cross between a Jaguar XF Sportbrake and XFR-S performance sedan, taking the best elements from both. From the former, that means the extended roofline that gives it the cargo capacity of a small crossover. From the former, that means a 5.0-liter supercharged V8 producing 542 horsepower and 502 pound-feet of torque, driving the rear wheels through an eight-speed automatic transmission.

Jaguar has something special planned for Goodwood

Mon, 23 Jun 2014

It's been barely a week since JLR announced its new Special Operations division, dedicated to creating limited-run halo cars and custom creations for both the Jaguar and Land Rover brands. Now the British automaker has confirmed the debut of the division's first project.
We don't know what it is, exactly, that Jaguar will be bringing to the Goodwood Festival of Speed later this week, but we bet it'll be exciting. If we were the betting kind, we'd put our money on some kind of hot-rod F-Type, but we'll just have to wait and see.
Alongside whatever JLR Special Operations has got cooking, Coventry will also be bringing the new F-Type R Coupe and XFR-S Sportbrake to run up the hill alongside a whole slew of classic and racing Jaguars, including a pair of D-Types, a Group 44 E-Type, a Group A XJS and the reunion of XJR-9 and Andy Wallace that last saw each other on the top step of the podium at Le Mans in 1988.

Jaguar working on 700-hp, 200-mph hybrid F-Type?

Sat, 22 Jun 2013

After first driving the 2014 Jaguar F-Type in Spain this spring, we came away mighty impressed. Of course, if you had to pin us down for a top three wish list of what improvements we'd like to see, we'd probably hit you with something like: 1) Less weight. 2) Less weight and 3) Less weight. Oh, and if we're feeling presumptuous, maybe some additional transmission choices.
Despite leveraging aluminum for the body and chassis, this Jaguar is still a bit of a fat cat compared to its rival models from Porsche. We never felt like it was lacking for power in any of its three supercharged trims, least of them the 495-horsepower V8 S, which is a genuine madman. We knew the variants would come, though - a quick look at the rest of Jag's lineup provides all the evidence you need of that. And so we're not surprised to see word of a hyper-powered F-Type on the horizon, an R-S version. What is surprising, however, is a new report that put its motivation at over 700 horsepower and its top speed at 200+ mph. Us? We're just hoping the latter figure comes at least partially as a result of a hardcore diet.
This F-Type R-S news comes according to the rumormongers at AutoExpress, who expect the high-power Brit to come in coupe form, at least initially. We still haven't seen the debut of the fixed-head F, but plenty of spy shots suggest its arrival is imminent. Wildly, AE posits that Jag won't look for more displacement to gain power, it will instead radically downsize by using a 1.6-liter turbo- and supercharged four-cylinder and an array of electric motors. If that sounds familiar, that's because AE suggests the high-tech powertrain will be scavenged from the defunct C-X75 supercar program (interestingly, earlier reports suggested this combination would only deliver about 500 horsepower).
