The Magnificent World of Jaguar....that is the heading of the 1974 Jaguar sales brochure that accompanies this beautiful example of SURVIVOR V12 E Type. Purchased new in Charlotte NC at Charlotte Import Cars Inc on July 5 1974(factory warranty and service book accompanies car as well), this car has lead a very pampered and protected life through the last 40 years and survives today with a scant 34K miles on the clock. Accompanied also by a contrasting Black painted hardtop, with recent new headliner, this car looks good from every angle, top up or top down and especially sporty with the hardtop in place.
Coming to us from the Sunshine state of FL, where it was owned by the previous owner back to 2000, where it was purchased with 27,457 miles on the odometer at this time. This car is in very usable and enjoyable condition as it is, with eyes on some cosmetic enhancements down the road. I drove the car several miles to shoot the photographs and it was a ball to drive, very torquey V12 and fun to maneuver around the Ozark hills curvy back roads. Equipped with Power Rack and Pinion Steering, 4 wheel independent suspension and 4 wheel disc brakes, this is the car that Jaguar legends were based on. Jaguar and Land Rover to consolidate dealerships
Thu, 29 Nov 2012Jaguar and Land Rover are set to merge their sales facilities, according to Inside Line. Jaguar Land Rover North America President Andy Gross says 45 percent of Jaguar owners also have an SUV in their stable, so it makes sense to give customers as much exposure to the cat's high-riding cousins and possible. The number of overall outlets will remain the same, and the brands will reportedly remain separate on the showroom floor, however.
So far, just one dealer has made the move to combine under the roof of one 68,000 square-foot facility in Paramus, New Jersey (above), though a further 20 are ready to make the shift and become Jaguar Land Rover outlets. Gross believes the shift is necessary so that his company's dealer network will accurately reflect the company's products. We'll see how cozy the brands are when Jaguar starts rolling out its own SUVs in a few years.
Petrolicious profiles one of the final Jaguar E-Types
Wed, 10 Apr 2013There's no question that David Paddison has got a very lovely 1974 Jaguar E-Type convertible. The rubber bumpers of this late E-Type may distract ever so slightly from the purity of the lines, but that doesn't mean we're still not completely jealous of the latest Petrolicious subject car.
As usual, the team of vintage car videographers has done a fine job capturing a small moment of gear-headness with this latest installment - The Last of the Breed. We do wonder why we don't get to hear a little bit more of that famed Jaguar V12 rumble, however. There's just a whiff of engine and exhaust sound in the middle of the video, while the rest of the piece sounds like it was scored by Amy Grant's rhythm guitarist. See for yourself, below.
Jaguar XJ220 hooned remotely by a kid
Sat, 31 Aug 2013The Tax the Rich crew has a knack for indulging in automotive fantasies and capturing it all on video, such as a tug-of-war battle between two Ferrari F50s, drifting a Ferrari Enzo on gravel roads and even powersliding a Rolls-Royce Phantom on a field of wet grass. This latest video features a Jaguar XJ220 and a kid with an iPad, who somehow is able to control the old supercar with the Apple product.
No, there's no app for that (yet), and we lied - the boy isn't actually controlling the car - but it sure is nice to see the XJ220 in all its turbocharged, six-cylinder glory doing donuts and sliding across a grassy field. It jolts us to see the old Jaguar - capable of 217 miles per hour and once described by Jeremy Clarkson as having no brakes and massive turbo lag - thrown about like a rally car, but then we never imagined anybody would abuse a Rolls-Royce like that either. We'll continue to leave the high-stakes antics to Tax the Rich - we're just glad somebody had the guts to behave so badly in such a valuable machine. What else were they made for?
