There are 2 minor rusts spots on the vehicle. One is on the trunk lid and the other is on the roof. There is a scratch on the hood that is a few inches long which I had filled in by a shop. The check engine light is on for an 02 sensor and this being an 0BD1 there is no emission required for this vehicle. This E36 is in great shape as you can see in the pictures. Always stored in the garage and never driven in inclement weather. Unfortunately, I have to part ways as I will be purchasing a newer model later this year.  Also, the headliner is in perfect condition. No sagging or tears in it. The seats have some minor wear due to its age but overall in great shape. Bought new from Patrick BMW in Schaumburg, IL and mostly serviced there and Lou Bachrodt BMW (1-Owner, see car fax report). All the electronics are in good working order and the A/C blows cold! I have all the original manuals and books that came new with the car. I tried to describe it as accurate as possible but please feel free to contact me if you have any other questions.

Clean and clear title in hand. Cash in person or bank wire transfer, no personal checks. I can assist you with shipping at an additional cost. Thanks for looking!

KBB 2013 Brand Image Awards has some obvious and oddball winners

Sat, 30 Mar 2013

The sixth edition of the Kelley Blue Book Brand Image Awards have crowned a wide range of winners - in a couple of cases the recipient of the laurels might say more about KBB users than they do about the actual winner. Compiled from the responses of more than 12,000 shoppers on KBB.com over the past year, there are 13 categories broken into non-luxury, luxury and truck segments "representing the combined wisdom of the American car-buying public."
The award categories have been revamped this year, with some dropping off, some new ones appearing and at least one other given a new term. What isn't surprising is that Honda won Most Trusted Brand for the second year running, Best Value Brand for the third year in a row and took Best Overall Brand, which wasn't on last year's list of awards.
On our own shores, in the non-luxury categories Chrysler got Most Refined Brand and Buick took Best Value Luxury Brand. Neither one of those marques won anything in last year's Brand Image Awards, while Cadillac, which won Best Interior Design Brand and Best Comfort Brand last year - those awards disappeared this year - went home without a single accolade.

Can the government mechanically force you to wear your seatbelt? [w/poll]

Fri, 30 Aug 2013

The National Highway Traffic Administration is considering the use of ignition interlocks in vehicles that would require the seatbelts of occupied seats to be fastened in order to drive the car, Automotive News reports, four decades after Congress moved to prevent manufacturers from installing them in cars sold in the US market. Following a transportation bill passed last year that lift some of the restrictions on seatbelt interlocks, automakers such as BMW are considering the benefits of using them in future cars. Now, before you go crying about your lost freedom, keep reading.
BMW said in an October 2012 petition that the use of seatbelt interlocks would allow the company to make lighter and more spacious vehicles, if the devices could be used in lieu of unbelted crash tests. The crash test has required the addition of bulky safety features, such as knee bolsters, that aren't as necessary when occupants are buckled up, especially when considering the dizzyng list of safety features that come standard on today's cars. Europe, which has a higher rate of seatbelt use than in the US, doesn't perform unbelted crash tests on cars sold there.

NHTSA gives okay for three automakers to skirt tire-related recalls

Thu, 25 Jul 2013

BMW, Honda, and Mercedes-Benz are all going to avoid small recalls, after the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration issued petitions for "findings of inconsequential noncompliance" to the three manufacturers, according to Tire Business. Basically, the petitions allow the brands to avoid recalls for some very, very minor issues.
BMW had tire placards on 364 X6 M CUVs that stated the car could only handle four passengers, when in reality it had room for three in the back. Actual plausibility of fitting three real humans in the slope-roofed Bimmer aside, the Munich-based manufacturer argued it was inconsequential, as the placards were correct regardless of the number of passengers.
Honda's case focused on 212 2011 and 2012 Acura TSX sedans equipped with 18-inch wheels. The TPMS systems on these cars were set for 17-inch wheels, rather than the larger hoops, but even with the lower settings, the tires maintain adequate load capacity.
