Ultra rare 1988 BMW 325IX. This is the most rare model year of the E30 325IX at one of only 310 imported to the US, it was also the first year that the 325IX was available stateside. All of the models imported this year were 2 doors with a 5 speed manual transmission and came fully loaded with a base price of approximately $33k, this was in 1988! Sports seats made by Recaro!

This car is in excellent mechanical condition. It was maintained by a local indie shop for the past several years and it runs great for a 25 year old car, it does not smoke and it passed smog in september. The car starts up great every time, idles well, and the AC works great. It comes with tires in good shape (above 75% tread) on Borbet 5 spoke wheels .

The exterior of the car is 100% original including all body panels and paint. I have pictures of the matching VIN on fenders, hood, trunk, etc. There is no structural rust at all (Extremely rare for an E30, especially the AWD models) and the car has spent it's entire life in California and Nevada. As with any car of this age with original paint, it is faded and the clear coat is peeling along the driver's side. There is a small quarter-size spot of surface rust behind the driver's side door as well in pictures. Front chin spoiler is dinged up and could use replacement, easy to find though. The car has a speedometer is not original to the car (common as they fail frequently on the E30) and it's very safe to say that the car has nowhere near 416k miles, but exact mileage is unknown. I have a spare speedo that was in the trunk of the car with 207k miles, it may be the original. The current MPH reading works infrequently on the speedometer.

The interior is in good condition with all original panels. The front leather seats have been reupholstered with black cloth and they were done very well. The car was equipped with an aftermarket stereo that has since been replaced with the factory tape deck, but it is not functioning.

What's good:
- Mechanicals
- All original body panels and STRAIGHT
- All original paint
- RARE
- Ideal car for someone with a light restoration in mind. Paint and a new front chin spoiler and it's almost done!
- Best color combo
- Runs like a top
- Everything works! Power windows, cruise, locks, mirrors, moon roof, etc.

What's not so good:
- Paint
- Coolant level sensor (Typical item that fails on the E30 and E36)
- ABS light is on
- Rear leather seat could use to be reupholstered as well, but it isn't terrible either
- Steering wheel is worn
- No spare

I can take pictures upon request. Reach out to me to questions or anything you might be curious about!

2015 BMW X4 slides in on the diagonal starting at $45,625 in the US

Wed, 05 Mar 2014

If BMW has shown us anything, it's a knack for creating niches and expanding its product portfolio. Go back to the early '90s and it had essentially four models: the 3 Series, 5 Series, 6 Series and 7 Series. End of list. Since then, the Bavarian automaker has not only taken on Mini and Rolls-Royce, but has expanded its own range of models exponentially. You can chalk a big part of that up to crossovers, and another sizable chunk to giving existing models a different roofline and calling it something new. What we have here is a prime example of both.
Previewed in concept form the better part of a year ago at the Shanghai Motor Show, the slantback version of the X3 (and the baby brother to the X6) is now here in full production guise. Mechanically it's essentially the same as the new X3 on which it's based, but amps up the "sport" at the expense of the "utility" part of the SUV equation.
BMW will undoubtedly offer a wide range of powertrain configurations in markets around the world, but back in the United States it'll be offered in two specs: the X4 xDrive28i, packing a 2.0-liter inline-four with 240 horsepower and a $45,625 sticker price (including destination), or the X4 xDrive35i with the 300hp 3.0-liter six and a $48,925 MSRP. Either way, you're getting an eight-speed automatic and all-wheel drive.

BMW M4 to debut in Detroit, lose manual transmission

Wed, 21 Aug 2013

BMW took the wraps off its M4 Concept at Pebble Beach last weekend, and many speculated that the highly anticipated production version of the sleek new two-door sports coupe would debut at the Los Angeles Auto Show later this year. But a well-placed source tell Autoblog that the E92 M3's successor won't arrive in Southern California this November. Instead, the German automaker will wait until the Detroit Auto Show in January for its first official reveal.
An all-new 3.0-liter inline-six with twin turbochargers is expected under the hood, and it should provide about the same horsepower as the current 4.0-liter V8 (rated at 414 horsepower), but with much more torque that arrives lower on the tachometer. The lightweight engine is said to have an impressively high redline, which is unusual for a turbocharged engine.
Unfortunately, Save the Manuals members aren't going to like this next bit of news. After four generations of three-pedal M3 models, our source says the upcoming F82 M4 will arrive with a dual-clutch transmission (DCT) as standard equipment - with no manual option - just like the latest iteration of the track-ready Porsche GT3 (few have complained about the automaker's PDK after driving the latest sports car from Stuttgart). In exchange for some moans, groans and gripes from enthusiasts, BMW's DCT mounted aft of the M4's inline-six will provide quicker acceleration and improved fuel economy.

Consumer Reports selling its road-tested roadsters [w/video]

Thu, 31 Jan 2013

Here's a chance to acquire a celebrity-owned vehicles, and this time at a discount instead of a premium. So the celebrity in this case is Consumer Reports, that magazine that could be equally adored and abhored by car enthusiasts. CR buys all of its test vehicles and usually finds willing second owners within its own ranks, but its opening its small used-car lot to the public. On the forecourt are four roadsters: an automatic 2012 Audi TT 2.0 TFSI Quattro S-Tronic with 6,600 miles for $36,500, a manual 2012 BMW Z4 sDrive28i with 8,400 miles for $45,000, a manual 2012 Mercedes-Benz SLK250 for $39,500 and a manual 2013 Porsche Boxster with 7,000 miles for $48,000.
Those numbers mean a savings of $9,000 to $10,000 before haggling - each car is listed with an "Asking price" so there could be some wiggle room if you show up with pockets full of dough and eyes full of serious intent. Since the money CR earns from the sales go back into the magazine's budget to buy more test cars, however, it probably won't take any oddball trades, so you can forget about getting any purchasing help from that track-day AMC Javelin project on blocks in the back yard.
The vehicles have been taken care of and spiffed up for sale; buyers will take delivery at the CR test track in East Haddam, Connecticut and get a tour of the facilities. While you're there they'll even take you on a lap around the track so you can feel how your car handles when driven by one of its testers. They will probably not help you with advice on which toaster and dehumidifier to buy - you'll still need to get a subscription for that. Have a look at the video below to see a day in the life of a CR test car.
