1988 Jeep Comanche 4x4 Short Box 96k Miles on 2040-cars

Year:1988 Mileage:96282
Location:

Buffalo, Wyoming, United States

1988 4X4 Jeep Comanche Sportruck Short Box. 96,282 miles Wyoming truck with no rust.  2.5 4cyl   Bored .40 over with less than 2000 miles on rebuild. 5 speed and 307 transfercase. 4’’ Lift, topper with carpet and roof rack.  Custom roll bar that fits under topper. K@N air intake. Bucket seats out of a newer jeep, carpet, visor shelf, sliding rear window, brush guard, tinted windows, almost new tires, window visors, black out head light covers, electric windows and started installing the electric door locks, and bed liner. I am being forced to try to sell it due to I only take it out of the garage about 2 times a year for the past 10. This truck has way too much sentimental value to me to get ride of it but she said I have to try? So I am putting a high reserve of $4000 on it. (She said “try” not that it has to sell). I am the 2nd owner, the first was a vet clinic that put on 32k miles and I have owned it since 1995. Here is everything I can nit pick on it and everything wrong?   Front drive line has a Ujoint starting to tick, head liner is starting to fall but I will replace, muffler has a slight leak, little vacuum leak, rear window gasket has come loose on the edge, windshield has a crack, back bumper has bend, and quarter size dent in tailgate, wheels are starting to get some surface rust from sitting, sportruck sticker started coming off last time I pressure washed it, slight dent in the front drivers side fender that you can only see at the right angle. Sound system does NOT come with it, don’t think it has had enough miles on it since new piston and rings to even seat them? Due to the years it has been not driven much I would recommend trailering it home. I have listed a lot wrong in hope that it doesn’t sell or if it does there will be no surprises?  It will start right up and go but I wouldn’t travel across the country right off the bat? This truck is NOT for sale locally due to I never want to see it again if I don’t own it.  I have had locals try but I would not handle it well if I ever saw this truck being mistreated so I want it to go far away. I have always taken great care of this truck but sitting has been the worst thing for it. Any questions feel free to ask I know everything about this truck from front to back. I will purchase a new battery and new headliner if it sells?  I will not ship, I live in a small enough place that trying to make shipping arrangements would be hard?

Total auto recalls already on record pace in 2014

Tue, 08 Apr 2014

If you've noticed that there have been more recalls than usual this year, you may be on to something. According to a report from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, the US market is on pace to break a record for recalls. In 2013, 22 million cars were recalled. We're only a third of the way through 2014, though, and we've already halved that figure, with 11 million units recalled. That's wild.
Considering the past few months, it shouldn't be a surprise that General Motors is leading the charge, with six million of the 11 million units recalled coming from one of the General's four brands. Between truck recalls, CUV recalls and the ignition switch recall, 2014 hasn't been a great year for GM.
Other recall leaders include Nissan (one million Sentra and Altima sedans), Honda (900,000 Odyssey minivans), Toyota (over one million units in a few recalls), Volkswagen (150,000 Passat sedans), Chrysler (644,000 Dodge Durango and Jeep Grand Cherokee SUVs) and most recently, Ford (434,000 units, the bulk of which were early Ford Escape CUVs). So while it's been a bad year for GM so far, its competitors aren't doing too well, either.

Jeep Wrangler likely to get aluminum body, will stay in Toledo

Mon, 27 Oct 2014

Perhaps more than any other vehicle currently for sale in the United States, the Jeep Wrangler is viewed by purist fans as a vehicle that simply must maintain the status quo. In this case, that means a body-on-frame design, solid axles, a relatively large engine sitting up front and a removable top. It's always been that way, and it always will be.
Maybe.
According to the most recent reports, the next-generation Jeep will continue to soldier forth with a full steel chassis underneath its stamped bodywork. The biggest change, reports Automotive News, will be that said panels will be hewn from aluminum instead of steel, a seismic shift of a transition not unlike what's happened with the new Ford F-150. Because it won't be a unibody, the SUV will likely continue to be assembled in Toledo, OH as it (almost) always has been - the latter has been a source of heartburn in recent weeks for the Northwestern city in the Buckeye State.

Going high-tech, the 4x4 way

Is It An Off-Road Adventure Or Just A Walk In The Park?
I remember having to get out and lock hubs and shift into neutral to engage low range.
Coming off press previews of the 2013 Land Rover Range Rover and the 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee that involved some heavy-duty off-road rock climbing, I'm simply amazed at the capabilities that these vehicles possess. But even more impressive (or troubling depending on your perspective) is the relative ease with which you can operate these vehicles in seemingly impossible terrain.
