I am listing this for a friend so please contact Mark @ 262-995-8904 for all inquiries or questions. I will describe vehicle to the best of my knowledge and with over 100 photos, I strive to put out an ad that doesn't leave many questions to the condition of a vehicle. with that said.... I am listing this 1954 GMC suburban/carryall panel truck with a 248 ci 6 cylinder with hydraulic lifters, 1 bl carb and a 4 speed manual transmission. It states on the original VIN tag that it was certified with 115 hp @ 3400 rpm. True records are not easy to find on production of these fourth generation suburbans and it has been said that around 800 were ever made? How many have survived? And how many have been given a real frame off, nut/bolt restoration and has been in one family for almost its whole life? The truck you see here was purchased new by the Ziddell family. They lived in St. Joseph Missouri and owned a convenient type general store, where they sold candies, school supplies, cigars etc.. It was the delivery and errand runner for many years. As years passed the ole girl was retired and confined to a barn for nearly 40 years. It was after an estate sale around 2006 that it changed hands and was taken to Tennessse. the Possom Holler Garage took ownership and it sat another couple of years before a complete restoration was embarked upon starting around 2011 and finished spring of 2013. Pictures show it was still wearing its original paint and hand applied lettering. There are enough photos that document the writing and cigar symbols if one wanted to re-do all of that. It was stripped to bare metal, rust or dents were addressed properly and care was taken to restore it to a very high standard. One will notice the level of detail, whether it be the factory correct wiring, silver zinc plating on various fasteners and a mirror like basecoat clearcoat paint job. During the restoration the vin tag had to be removed and will go with the truck (a new one was used for the restore) and at that time it was discovered that the serial # was a 1007. That would equate to the 7th one off the assembly line!! The truck is as nice as they come and basic also. No power options and not many creature comforts as this was a work horse. It does at least have a heater that works. It is a clean palette so to speak and if one wanted to add seats or anything else, well that would be up to the new owner. Truck starts up with ease, just push the floor starter button down and there she purrs. It drives and handles as good as a 3/4 ton heavy truck with bias ply tires can. Take time to look hard at all the photos as I tried to capture the truck from every area. I personally am a collector as is the owner and also a restorer. I can't imagine the amount of time and material alone that went into a vehicle this large. The asking price would not even cover the restoration cost alone. Owner is only selling to make some room. and at 19' long it does have a large footprint. Vehicle is sold as is where is and he welcomes any inspections. It is located in Wisconsin and is about 20 miles southwest of milwaukee.

GM thinks Colorado and Canyon midsize trucks will lure crossover buyers

Tue, 29 Jul 2014

The invitation to come out and sample product at the General Motors Proving Grounds in Milford, MI is rarely dull, and after spending this morning driving preproduction versions of the Chevrolet Colorado and GMC Canyon all we can say is... under strict embargo. Sorry, America, we were as excited as many of you are to learn more about GM's new midsize truck range and take note of how they go down the road, but it's going to be September before we're allowed to share that with all of you. Here's to sweet suspense.
While we might not be able to talk about refinement or handling yet, we did find some of the product positioning and marketing statements from GMC and Chevy officials on hand at the program to be pretty interesting.
Of course, we all know that the literal competitive set for Canyon and Colorado is comprised of two comparatively ancient Japanese midsize trucks: the Toyota Tacoma (which currently owns this segment) and the Nissan Frontier. The Frontier's bones are as old as the 2005 model year, with 2009 marking the last time the truck was updated. The Taco was also launched in 2005, though it did see a freshening for 2012. The point remains that, in every facet from powertrain to dash plastics, the GM midsize truck twins are going to look positively space age by comparison when they hit the market for MY 2015.

General Motors shaking up its marketing... again

Wed, 13 Mar 2013

One of the things that dogs the full comeback of General Motors is the instability of its marketing. That part of the automaker got yet another big shakeup today when GM confirmed what I have been tweeting for a few days - strong rumors that the Chevrolet and Cadillac ad accounts are walking to new ad agencies.
Cadillac, GM's luxury brand, is going into review from Fallon Worldwide, Minneapolis and the indications are that Campbell-Ewald, Chevy's old ad shop, will end up with most or all of it. C-E just announced that it was moving from its long-time home in Warren, MI to a new downtown Detroit office next to Ford Field, just blocks from GM.
The other shoe to drop shortly will be the shift of GM's most important brand, Chevy, from Goodby, Silverstein & Partners of San Francisco to McCann-Erickson of Troy, MI. McCann used to be the agency for Buick and GMC, as well as GM's corporate advertising, and has retained some pieces of business over the last few years. Sources have even told us that it was McCann that did a lot of the creative work on Chevy's new ad platform, Find New Roads. (Not to be confused with a former McCann tagline for Saab, "Find Your Own Road.")

2015 GMC Yukon and Yukon XL hit the floor at LA

Thu, 21 Nov 2013

The middle child of General Motors' trio of truck-based SUVs, the GMC Yukon and long-wheelbase Yukon XL, received their auto show debut at today's 2013 Los Angeles Auto Show. Showing off a bigger, bolder look, particularly on its Denali trim, the Yukon sports prominent chrome grille instantly identifies GMC's new top-end SUV.
The Yukon is will come to market with a pair of engines. The base 5.3-liter V8 pumps out 355 horsepower and 383 pound-feet of torque, while the higher-end models benefit from the same direct-injected, 6.2-liter V8 as the Escalade. That engine makes 420 horsepower and 450 pound-feet of torque, with fuel economy seeing a likely boost thanks to an active fuel management system. Like the Tahoe, Suburban and Escalade, the Yukon takes advantage of a six-speed, column-mounted automatic transmission.
The cabin has seen significant upgrades in terms of materials and technology, with an eight-inch touchscreen display and IntelliLink standard in both Yukon and Yukon Denali. Fold-flat second and third-row seats come standard, while a power option is available, as well. Other techy features include active noise cancellation and standard Bose stereos.
