For Sale is a 1957 Ford Ranchero. I've owned this Ranchero for about 4 years now. I bought locally in Chico, Ca. from a friend who had it for many years in covered storage. When purchased, it took only clean gas, and a battery to get moving. It ran great, shifted great and was unbelievably reliable car for one sitting so long. The brakes worked, all gauges, turn signals, lights etc. The tires all held air but are very old.

After I purchased the car, I then bought a nearly new rebuilt 312 V-8 and a A/T . I also purchased a power steering set up and front suspension for the V-8. My plan was to make this Ranchero into a power steering V-8 car.

The body is rock solid, it has a fairly new fuel tank and fuel lines. There are small areas that are in need of minor repair but for a 57year old Ranchero, it is very sweet.

The Ranchero comes with everything I have purchased for the car which includes:

312 V-8, A/T, fuel tank, dash, trim, glass. tail gate and much more. The original 223 straight 6 is still in the car but disconnected. The Ranchero will roll and brake. I can help load it on a trailer.

This truck when done is one of the more desirable early Fords out there. I have not nor does it appear that I will have time to complete this project and am hoping someone else sees the potential I do.

Please email with any questions. I can store the truck for a reasonable amount of time and will assist with transport all I can.

She comes with a clean and clear Calif. title

Please Note: This Ranchero is a 1959 Not 1957. Sorry for the confusion

Next Ford Mustang to drop 400 pounds

Thu, 15 Aug 2013

The Ford Mustang is already the lightest of the current crop of muscle cars, at around 3,600 pounds for a GT coupe with the six-speed manual transmission. That's almost 260 pounds less than a Chevrolet Camaro SS and about 450 pounds less than a Dodge Challenger R/T, which means the Mustang has a pretty big advantage when it comes to handling, braking, accelerating and economy. More good news: The next Mustang will be even lighter.
According to a report from Edmunds, the sixth-generation Mustang, which is set to debut at the 2014 North American International Auto Show, will shed an additional 400 pounds of body fat. That 11-percent weight reduction will be thanks to lightweight materials, with a particular focus on using stronger, but less material in construction. Aluminum will feature heavily, but Edmunds' inside source warns that there is "nothing terribly exotic" coming to the original pony car.
The other big news is that the new Mustang will be smaller overall. It's going to be 15-inches shorter than the 188.5-inch Mustang on sale today, while it'll also be 6.5 inches narrower. Shorter overhangs, both in the front and rear, are also good signs for those that want an agile Mustang.

Ford acquires Livio to bolster connectivity biz

Thu, 26 Sep 2013

Ford Motor Company has announced the acquisition of Livio, a Ferndale, MI-based software development company best known for aftermarket in-car connectivity devices, but also as a supplier of technology for proprietary systems for automakers. Livio, co-founded by Sigal and Massimo Baldini, will be a wholly owned subsidiary of Ford Global Technologies.
"With the additional expertise Livio provides us, Ford intends to continue to lead the next generation of in-car connectivity with technology advancements that give consumers more options to access their devices on the go," said Paul Mascarenas, chief technical officer and vice president, Ford Research and Innovation, in a statement.
Ford is clearly trying to beef up its in-house tech capability around telematics and device connectivity. While the Blue Oval has been a leader in these areas with SYNC and MyFord Touch in terms of getting the systems into as many cars as possible, the execution of the applications have been criticized for glitches.
