Ford F-250 F250 on 2040-cars
Colorado Springs, Colorado, United States
We purchased this truck from an estate with a couple of other vehicles, it came to us with the engine removed and in a crate in the bed. The engine appears to have been professionally rebuilt, it was tagged primed/break in oil . ARP stainless fasteners were used to put everything back together, the balance of the bolts for the alternator and other accessories were in the ARP box in the crate with the engine, Looking through the penetration in the timing cover one could see what appeared to be a double roller timing chain covered in white assembly lube. Upon further inspection of the engine and deciding that it was worth installing we removed the transmission and had it rebuilt, The transmission rebuild included a heavy duty clutch pack, torque convertor, valve body, and a shift kit - the transmission is suitable for heavy towing or a heavy foot! To compliment the newly installed pair the following parts were installed new as well; Super Cooler Radiator, upper and lower radiator hoses, heater hoses, alt ps and ac belts, a/c belt idler bearing and tensioner bearing, mechanical fuel pump, Motorcraft/Holley carburetor, fuel lines, alternator, distributor, cap, rotor, spark plug wires, 195 degree thermostat, oil and water temp sending units, PCV valve, starter, flexplate, vacuum lines, three universal joints and carrier bearing along with balancing the driveline, new dual exhaust from the manifolds to the chrome tips with a crossover tube - nice sounding low rumble, not obnoxious. It appears that the previous owner spent quite a bit of time cleaning and detailing the engine compartment, when we reinstalled the engine all of the brackets were media blasted and painted to match the rest of the meticulous work that had been completed under the hood and to the frame in the engine compartment area. I think that we finished it the way it was intended to be. The air conditioner works great, blows very cold. This truck runs out very well, the engine is smooth, quiet, and very powerful.

Ford Police Interceptor with 2.0L EcoBoost rated most fuel-efficient police sedan
Tue, 26 Nov 2013Back in September, Ford announced a non-pursuit version of its Police Interceptor Sedan, which swaps out a choice of two V6 engines for a fuel-efficient 2.0-liter EcoBoost inline four-cylinder. This Special Service Police Sedan will be marketed to law enforcement agencies looking to cut fuel costs and don't need the extra power.
For college campuses, detectives and the like, this new police car has now been certified with EPA fuel economy estimates of 20 miles per gallon in the city, 32 mpg on the highway and a combined rating of 24 mpg. These figures represent a decrease of two mpg in city and combined ratings compared to the civilian-spec 2014 Taurus. These police cars still offer active grille shutters for better aerodynamics, although we're guessing agencies upfitting their cars with light bars and push bumpers aren't exactly concerted with aerodynamics. The true benefit of the SSP version is when it's compared against other police sedan options like the Dodge Charger, Chevy Impala, Chevy Caprice and even the V6 Police Interceptor Sedan.
Ford claims the new Police Interceptor Sedan SSP is the most fuel-efficient current option for police departments, saying that this car can save $1,720 per car over three years and almost $260,000 over the same span of time for fleets with 150 vehicles. There is an official press release posted below, and also check out the gallery of images from Ford collected from various police agencies across the US (although none show the 2.0-liter SSP model). Head on over to Ford's Police Interceptor mini-site for even more pictures of the Police Interceptor Sedan and Utility.
Ford announces four recalls, 1.4M vehicles affected
Thu, 29 May 2014Ford is taking a bit of the spotlight away from General Motors, announcing a major group of recall campaigns, covering a total of 1.4 million vehicles built between 2006 and 2013.
Let's start with the big one, which covers the Ford Escape, Mercury Mariner and, according to The Detroit News, Ford-built Mazda Tribute CUVs. 915,216 vehicles are covered, all of which were built in model years 2008 to 2011. 736,000 vehicles are in the US, while Canada then Mexico make up the vast majority of the remainder. The problem is due to an issue with the torque sensor in the steering column, which could lead to sudden power steering failure. Manual steering would still be available, though.
"Dealers will perform one of three service fixes, depending upon what diagnostic codes are shown when the vehicle is taken to the dealer," Ford spokeswoman Kelli Felker wrote to Autoblog in an email. "They will either update software for the power steering control module and the instrument cluster module; replace the torque sensor; or replace the steering column, which includes upgraded power steering control module software."
Ford Mondeo classes up with premium Vignale trim
Wed, 11 Sep 2013Back in the day, Vignale was a carrozzeria of the highest order, alongside the likes of Pininfarina, Bertone and Zagato. But like Giugiaro-ItalDesign and Ghia, it has since been subsumed into a larger auto group. Ford ended up with it under its umbrella when it took over De Tomaso, and has since used the moniker for a number of concept cars. Now the name is back in the form of a new upscale sub-brand for the European market.
The first new model to receive the Vignale treatment is the Mondeo, which Ford unveiled here at the Frankfurt Motor Show in both sedan and wagon forms. Positioned above the Titanium trim, the Vignale model gets such special touches as chrome trim and a quilted leather interior, Vignale badges replacing any mention of the Mondeo on which it's based. It also gains an ownership experience - including free car washes for life! - to befit the upscale positioning.
Under the bright spotlights above the show floor, the Nocciola metallic brown paint might not be the most photogenic, but will likely give the Vignale edition a more premium look when it hits European dealers and roads in 2015. Whether it'll be worth however much Ford asks for it, however, remains to be seen. Scroll down below for the official press release.
