I will start from front and work my way back. Front axle is a Dana 44 3/4 ton with 4/11 gears. Has billet aluminum differential cover and axle trusses. Truck has 6 inch full spring suspension lift and 3 inch body lift. Fiberglass cowl induction hood. Motor is a 454 CID with roller cam, roller lifters, and roller rockers. Has Edelbrock aluminum oval port heads, polished aluminum Edelbrock intake manifold, and polished aluminum valve covers. Fueled with Demon 795 carb. Cooling the motor is a CSI electric water pump and thermostat controlled electric fan. Truck has all new energy suspension polyerothane spring, motor, tranny, and body bushings. Equipped with tilt steering column, factory tach, and Alpine CD player. Behind the big block is five speed manual transmission with hydrolic clutch and 208 transfer case. Tires are 35x 15.50x 16.5 thorn bird tires on 12 inch wide 16.5 weld super single aluminum wheels. The rear axle is a corporate 14 bolt with billet aluminum differential cover 4/11 gears and axle truss. Also equipped with kicker shocks to eliminate axle wrap. The exhaust is ceramic coated headers into 3 inch dual pipes back to dual stainless steel supertrapps with 36 plates on each muffler. The tail lights consist of ZR1 roll pan. The seats are leather electric buckets out of jeep grand Cherokee. Vert-A-Pac train cars kept your Chevy Vega's price in check

Fri, 01 Mar 2013

Our apologies to those who've seen this before, but for the rest of the class, how awesome are these pictures of the Vert-A-Pac shipping system General Motors came up with to ship the Chevrolet Vega back in the 1970s? Developed along with Southern Pacific Railroad, GM was able to double the amount of Vega models it could ship by packing them into the unique storage cars vertically.
At the time, rail cars could fit 15 vehicles each, but Chevrolet was able to lower shipping costs by making it possible to ship 30 Vegas per rail car, in turn allowing the price of the Vega to remain as low as possible. Each rail car had 30 doors that would fold down so that a Vega could be strapped on, and then a forklift would come along and lift the door into place. All the cars were positioned nose down, and since they were shipped with all of their required fluids, certain aspects had to be designed specifically for this type of shipping, including an oil baffle in the engine, a special battery and even a repositioned windshield washer reservoir. See for yourself in our image gallery above.

Official USPS Muscle Cars stamps coming to a mailbox near you

Thu, 21 Feb 2013

As much as our digital lives have cut down on our trips to the post office, there are still times that sending "snail mail" is necessary. With us car lovers in mind and philately in their hearts, the good folks at the United States Postal Service will introduce a new stamp design called "Muscle Cars" starting on February 22.
Designed by artist Tom Fritz, the new collection of stamps consist of five classic muscle cars: 1969 Dodge Charger Daytona, 1970 Chevrolet Chevelle SS, 1967 Shelby GT-500, 1966 Pontiac GTO and 1970 Plymouth Hemi 'Cuda. In addition to just the stamps, the USPS is also commemorating the new series with plenty of collectable memorabilia. Previous car-related stamps include 50s Sporty Cars from 2005 and 50s Fins and Chrome from 2008.
