Very Rare 1995 Volvo 850 T5 R up for auction! I have owned this car for the past 3 years and have enjoyed every day of it. This car has been very well maintained and is still running "like new" It is a shear joy to drive. It currently has just under 137,000 miles. I have only put approx 1k miles a year on it showing it off mostly locally. The previous owner was a Volvo enthusiast like myself and clearly pampered this car. Has extensive service and maintenance records. It has an automatic transmission, with sport and economy mode, amazing pickup and performance and still gives you great mileage. If you have never driven one, let me just say, THIS CAR IS FAST! To my knowledge it is still completely stock however the sky is the limit with what can be done to this car.

It has been well preserved and has been garage kept. The paint is still in excellent condition and shows very few flaws. Both the front and rear bumper trims were "touched up" about 2 years ago and are starting to chip ( see pics ). I should express this is VERY MINOR and could easily be touched up once again. I have never seen another T5 R in this color so be prepared to be popular by other Volvo lovers:) I believe there were under 300 of them in this color imported to the United States.

The interior is also still in great condition and has no rips or tears. All of the windows are limo tint shade which provides you with complete privacy. Please be aware this may be prohibited in your area as they are very dark. However it is simple to remove if you so choose. This Volvo also still has the original stereo and tape deck and has a very impressive sound system. This car could be a collectable, a daily driver or would be an excellent marketing tool for a business. This car makes peoples heads turn. Runs and looks excellent!

OTHER OPTIONS INCLUDE:

DUAL POWER SEATS WITH HEATERS ( THEY WORK GREAT )
POWER SUNROOF ( DOES NOT LEAK )
POWER STEERING
POWER LOCKS
KEY LESS ENTRY WITH REMOTE
CRUISE CONTROL
ON BOARD COMPUTER ( MEASURES MPG ETC )
FRONT AND SIDE AIRBAG SYSTEM
ICE COLD A/C

This 850 T5R has over $8k dollars in service and maintenance records, however I will just specify the most important services and replaced parts. If you have any specific questions feel free to contact me so I can itemize them for you.

SERVICE HISTORY:
TIMING BELT, WATER PUMP, TENTIONER & BEARINGS WITH CAM SEALS COMPLETED AT 131K MILES
REAR MAIN SEAL COMPLETED AT 132K MILES
TURBO HOSES AND SEALS
FRONT ENGINE MOUNT, REAR ENGINE MOUNT, AND RIGHT ENGINE MOUNT
TRANSMISSION SERVICED EVERY 30K MILE MARKS
OIL AND FILTER CHANGED EVERY 3K MILES ( NOW HAS SYNTHETIC )
HAS NEWER FRONT AND REAR TIRES WITH APPROX 85% TREAD LEFT
FRONT AND REAR BRAKES HAVE MORE THEN 80% LEFT

I WOULD NEVER SELL THIS CAR, HOWEVER A RELOCATION IS MAKING IT NECESSARY. SHE IS READY FOR A NEW HOME!

This Volvo has a clean California title with current California registration. If you are a local buyer I will provide a renewed smog certificate. It comes with the original owners manual, R wheels, R floor mats, Volvo guide, spare tire and kit, and all service records. I can assist with shipping or if you would prefer airport pickup I am closest to the San Diego International Airport ( SAN ).
The reserve may be reached at anytime, so please do not bid if you are not ready to buy. Also please be aware that I may end this auction at anytime. Feel free to email me with any questions or concerns. Thanks for looking and good luck!

Volvo readying stretched next-gen S80 in lieu of 7 Series rival?

Fri, 13 Sep 2013

The debate about what direction to take perennially struggling Volvo has been raging for years. Should the Swedish marque go upscale and try to chase other European luxury brands, or should it stick to its safety-minded knitting? Should it adopt flashy new styling and a more overt performance bent, or keep it Scandinavian clean and responsible? Chinese parent brand Geely apparently has designs on making Volvo a full-fledged BMW rival - particularly in its homeland - including pushing for a range-topping 7 Series competitor. However, Volvo execs have been repeatedly pushing back on the idea. In fact, it's understood that this philosophical crisis contributed mightily to the high-profile departure of Stefan Jacoby, the company's CEO until the middle of 2012 (Jacoby has since rebounded to head international operations for General Motors).
There doesn't seem like any middle path in this debate, but that apparently isn't going to stop Volvo from trying. According to a sprawling Reuters report, Volvo will placate Geely chairman Li Shufu with a stretched and lux'd up version of the next S80. Yet Li still isn't completely satisfied, and he's said to be pushing for "a plusher and bigger model he calls the S100" to rival cars like the Audi A8. For the moment, it is not clear if the larger S80-based model will be a global offering, or just another one of China's many home-market, long-wheelbase specials.
The question of future Volvo styling is up for debate as well. According to Reuters, "Insiders say Li is a big fan of the new styling that design chief Thomas Ingenlath has brought to Volvo" (The latest example, the Concept Coupe from this week's Frankfurt Motor Show, is shown above.) Yet there are those who worry whether the company's new styling strategy is showy enough to appeal to China's wealthy. Chairman Li would still like to see a range-topping sedan for "show-off people," but Volvo's management doesn't want to go down that road. Clearly, this won't be the last we hear about the company's existential boardroom battles.

Sweden's Prince Carl Philip to race for Volvo in STCC

Tue, 04 Dec 2012

Prince Carl Philip Bernadotte has it good. He is a member of the Swedish Royal Family, he dates a model and he has been voted by Forbes as one of the "20 Hottest Young Royals." If that were not enough, he is a fairly successful racecar driver. The latter has earned him a spot on the Volvo Polestar racing team for the Swedish Touring Car Championship. The prince will be piloting a race-spec S60 in the 2013 STCC campaign.
Starting in 2008, Prince Carl Philip began competing in the Porsche Carrera Cup, where he placed as high as 11th. In 2010, he finished first in the Porsche GT3 Endurance competition, and most recently, he placed fourth in the 2012 Swedish GT GTB.
As his motorsport career up to this point suggests, the prince is quite serious about racing and the STCC is the next step up. According to Prince Carl Philip, "There is no tougher championship in Sweden and at the same time as I have respect for it, it motivates me greatly." You can read more on Prince Carl Philip's upcoming campaign with Polestar in the press release below.

Volvo S60 Polestar Concept looking Smurfy in Jay Leno's Garage

Tue, 22 Jan 2013

Is it just us, or has Jay Leno's Garage evolved from an intimate, off-the-cuff video series designed to show off the late-night comedian's automobile collection into something a lot more ambitious and... mainstream? This isn't a complaint, exactly, as Leno has been putting out engaging videos at an increasingly furious pace. However, we can't help but note that the subjects have largely graduated from the funnyman's steam-powered eccentricities and forgotten classics to lots of new production and concept cars, often with automaker execs in tow. It's almost as if the series is turning into an internet version of his NBC talk show, one where bigwigs swing by to show off their latest projects as part of their publicity tours, only instead of new movies and albums, it's cars or the occasional motorcycle.
Such is the exactly case with Volvo's stonking S60 Polestar Concept, which makes its appearance in Jay's warehouse of wonders this week. Tuned by in-house skunkworks Polestar, the "Swedish Racing Blue" S60 has certainly been making the rounds as of late, with recent appearances near Leno's garage at the LA Auto Show and an Auto Motor und Sport track faceoff against the BMW M3 and Audi RS4 Avant.
Perhaps we shouldn't be surprised that Volvo is so keen to get its showcar in front of the cameras - last we heard, executives were seriously considering a small production run for their unlikely 508-horsepower, all-wheel drive sport sedan, though we continue to hear that realistic pricing is likely to be a roadblock.
