First and foremost,  I love this car and it has been so much fun building and driving.  The one and only reason this car is for sale is because my wife and I are expecting our first child.  Soon I will not have much time to enjoy this car and I would feel better with money in the bank than in my garage.  This is a one off custom built VW Rat Rod. It gets almost too much attention on the road!  The car was built mostly by me and its ready to take anywhere. The car truly needs no mechanical work, everything has already been done.  The car is has a clean Texas title and in is my name. The tags are also current and registered to me.   I'm looking to just recoup most of the money I have in the car.  I knew going into it that this was a labor of love, so I don't expect to get it all back.  Here is a list of whats been done.

Body: Top chopped and aggressively dropped.  Custom two piece window made for the windshield and wire mesh for the rest.  Front beam extended 12 inches to give it that mean look.

Motor: Newly rebuilt by Austin Vee Dubs.  Its a 1600 dp running single 34 pict and upgraded to alt instead of gen.   Has about 500 miles on it and runs strong!

Wheels & Brakes:  4 Brand new tires less than 500 miles painted with white wall tire paint.   Brakes work great and fronts are upgraded to disk.

Lights Horn and Wiring all new:  Custom LED signals and old school horn.  All lights work and wiring harness is new

Mods: Flame thrower kit installed, custom roll back vinyl top,  grant short ratio steering wheel, empi short throw bus shifted fitting to real shiner beer tap. To name a few...

Rust:  Pans have been patched in placed and the rear passenger quarter still needs work.  I have the replacement section but it hasn't been installed.  It will come with the car.

This is truly a bad ass car and I love driving it. The car is pretty quick and can cruse on the freeway with ease.  The car is however very light so speeds over 55mph get a little shaky depending on the road.  This is very common with all custom VW's like dune buggy's and etc.  Its not too bad once you get used to it but the car feels much better cursing around 55mph. I will miss this sweet ride dearly but I'm excited to become a father and that's what I'm focusing on now.  Please call with any questions you might have about the build.  I've priced it very fair for what it is and whats been done to it but i'll listen to best offers. If you want more pictures or videos just ask.  Thanks my phone number is 2108578627

Skoda Octavia vRS is just the thing for your pumped-up neighborhood

Fri, 26 Jul 2013

Skoda, oh Skoda. You're just so cool. Maybe it's the fact that it's a brand that we don't get in these United States, but Skoda's rebadged Volkswagens, in particular the new Octavia vRS shown here, are just different enough from the hum-drum VWs on our shores that the Czech brand seems strangely desirable. Maybe we're just craving forbidden fruit.
This short, minute-long spot covers the new vRS in a world of excess, where strollers ride on 26-inch wheels, lawnmowers feature V8 engines and ice cream cones are the size of toddlers. As things often go in these ads, the Octavia vRS draws the eyes of passerby that are seemingly use to things far more ridiculous than a reasonably priced Czech sedan. In reality, the Octavia should be fairly familiar to American buyers. It uses the same 2.0-liter, turbocharged four-pot found in the Volkswagen GTI and Jetta GLI, with 217 horsepower, and sits on the same platform as the Audi A3 and Volkswagen Golf. Take a look at the full spot, below.

Volkswagen formally introduces super-efficient XL1

Mon, 04 Mar 2013

Lightweight and low drag are hallmarks of great sportscar design. But when paired with a super-efficient, hybrid powertrain, you have the Volkswagen's XL1 that has been formally introduced in Geneva today.
When the 1,700-lb, carbon-fiber-bodied two-seater hits the road, its claimed 261 miles per gallon will make it the world's most-fuel-efficient production car. Though "production car" might be a stretch since VW said in a February press release that the XL1 would be built using "handcrafting-like production methods." We translate that to mean you won't be seeing many of these cars on the road. Though no one at VW has mentioned pricing yet, early rumors suggested a six-figure price tag.
That's supercar budget for a vehicle that has a 47-horsepower, two-cylinder diesel engine and a 27hp electric motor. With numbers like that, owners can expect 0-62 mph times of 12.7 seconds and top speed near 100 mph.

Anti-UAW VW workers move to form own union

Sat, 30 Aug 2014

The struggle over unionization at the Volkswagen factory in Chattanooga, TN, continues to get more complicated. There's now a second union fighting to organize at the plant; although this one is staunchly against the actions of the United Auto Workers. At the same time, the UAW is still signing up voluntary members to its recently created Local 42 at the facility and is reportedly near having a majority of the hourly employees on its side.
The new, anti-UAW union campaign is being spearheaded by employee Mike Burton, according to Reuters, and he calls his group the American Council of Employees. He claims to already have 108 signatures in support of his organization. Burton believes that the UAW is harmful to businesses, and his goal is to force another vote to determine a preferred union among workers.
The UAW was initially defeated (712 to 626) when it attempted a union vote at the Tennessee plant in February. However, UAW secretary-treasurer Gary Casteel told Reuters that Local 42 has already signed up over 700 members. If it can reach a majority of the roughly 1,500 employees, the group hopes VW might consider recognizing it as the factory's union.
