1960 Vw Beetle- Runs And Drives And Stops!! on 2040-cars
New London, Connecticut, United States
We are selling a 1960 VW Beetle on consignment. Restoration has begun and is running, drivable and is not bad to look at either. Top is in good shape, body isn't bad, has a couple of dings on it from being stored inside with other classic cars. Has some rust on the undercarriage that doesn't effect how it rides, and looks like it is normal rust for this vintage VW. Pictures show the extent of the rust. She also needs a turn signal switch, when driving we always use hand signals which add to the charm of driving this old girl around. The interior has been replaced, the tires are good, the brakes are good all the way around, clutch is good, all the glass is intact. Not much wrong with this one, just needs to be finished up. We need to move it to make way for more work, the current owner is not in a position to invest any money into the car at this time. Timing is everything and right now its perfect time to take advantage of someone else being in a position that they need money and not a beauty like this cute little VW. Its a rare one, try to find a 1960 convertible.............. If you are reading this you probably are aware what these babies go for now so bid accordingly. If you have any questions or want more pictures feel free to email me or call our body shop at 860-442-4536 and ask for Steve, he will answer whatever questions you may have. If you are in a position to look at it here in CT feel free to come by at 64 Brainard Street, New London, CT 06320 I It is being sold as is and we expect payment within 3 days of bid closing. A PayPal deposit will be required at the end of the auction. Transportation is up to you, we will be glad to work with whoever you find to transport with logistics. |

VW recalls 1.1M Jetta, Beetle models in US, China over suspension fears
Fri, 17 Oct 2014Volkswagen is recalling about 1.1 million vehicles in China and North America in a newly announced campaign affecting the rear suspensions on some models. For the US, the action covers about 442,265 vehicles, including 400,602 examples of its 2011-2013 Jetta and 41,663 units of the 2012-2013 Beetle and Beetle Convertible. According to Reuters, the recall affects a further 126,000 vehicles in Canada and about 581,090 in China, including related market-specific models like the Sagitar.
The problem can occur if the affected models have a collision to the rear or the side-rear of the vehicle. It's then possible for the trailing arms on the torsion-beam rear suspension to be damaged. If the harm isn't noticed, then the part could fracture while driving. Obviously, a broken rear suspension is going to have an adverse effect on handling.
To fix things, VW dealers will inspect the trailing arms on the models, and they will all receive a sheetmetal part that will make a distinctive sound if broken in the future. If already damaged, the entire torsion beam will be replaced. Obviously, this work will be done at no charge to owners.
Honda wins Commercial of the Decade, but not for the ad you think [w/VIDEO]
Fri, 18 Dec 2009Honda's Commercial of the Decade: "Grrr" - Click above to watch video
The mad men at Adweek recently voted for the Commercial of the Decade (Super Bowl commercials not included) and Honda took top honors over memorable ads from the last ten years by companies like Nike, Budweiser and Sony. That's not a big surprise considering Honda often puts a huge amount of effort into its on-air spots. However, the Japanese automaker didn't win for the commercial you might have expected: "Cog." Though Honda's famous commercial that breaks down a European Accord Tourer into a Rube Goldberg-esque machine was also a finalist, it was beaten by another Honda commercial called "Grrr" that's narrated by Garrison Keillor of all people. You've probably never seen it, but you can after the jump.
Volkswagen also made the list of finalists, but the particular ad chosen out of all the comical VW ads we've seen was unexpected as well. Most surprising carmaker with a commercial in the finals: Saturn. Who knew...
VW to unveil diesel-electric Twin-Up! in Tokyo
Fri, 08 Nov 2013We've received multiple reports that Volkswagen will be bringing a diesel-electric concept to the 2013 Tokyo Motor Show, set to take place later this month. The car, called the Twin-Up!, is based on the Up! city car, with some sources claiming this is a thinly veiled concept that will eventually enter production.
According to Automotive News Europe, the Twin-Up! will reportedly return 214 miles per gallon on the US cycle by combining an 800-cc, two-cylinder diesel and an electric motor. It will also boast plug-in capabilities, and will be able to cover 30 miles on electric power alone.
Autocar has a more complete picture of the Twin-Up!'s powertrain, though, claiming it's a modified version of the hybrid system found in the Volkswagen XL1. The Twin-Up! will get a more potent, 47-horsepower electric motor to the XL1's 27-hp unit, but will retain that car's 47-hp turbodiesel. The battery pack will also grow, from 5.5 kilowatt hours to 8.6 kWh. Both of these increases are necessary due to the increased weight of the Twin-Up! - it's some 900 pounds heavier than an XL1.
