1992 Toyota Land Cruiser Base Sport Utility 4-door 4.0l on 2040-cars
Denver, Colorado, United States
This is probably the cleanest 1992 Toyota FJ80 Land Cruiser within a thousand miles. Must be seen to appreciate. The truck spent all its life in Texas, so no rust whatsoever. Has new custom leather seats and includes the third row. It has a relatively new Kenwood AM/FM/CD player with USB and Aux inputs with Pioneer speakers in the front and Kenwood in the rear. Tires are relatively new Falkens with tens of thousands of miles left on them and I upgraded the headlamps to new Sylvanias for brighter low beams. The 1992 FJ80 has the legendary Toyota 3FE engine, known worldwide as one of the best engines Toyota ever produced with a reputation for very long life if maintained well. I recently have replaced the EGR system, the air pump, the air filter, the spark plugs, and the oxygen sensors. It still has slightly elevated CO readings, but this could be a moot point depending on where you live. With this FJ80, you could use it as a daily driver, or build your dream Moab rock hopper! |

Toyota pondering high-performance GT86 hybrid?
Fri, 08 Mar 2013From what Autocar has to say, Toyota has even more plans for the GT86 beyond the convertible concept we just saw at the Geneva Motor Show. Along with a planned midcycle facelift, Toyota is reportedly looking at how to pack some extra ponies under the coupe's hood, and while there has already been a lot of talk about superchargers and turbochargers, it sounds like a performance-boosting hybrid system could also be in the works.
Talking to Toyota chief engineer Tetsuya Tada, Autocar has learned that the automaker is considering an electrical motor assist for the sporty coupe to improve performance without harming fuel economy. In attempting to keep weight - and, presumably, costs - down, the article mentions the use of a system closer to what Honda uses for its Integrated Motor Assist rather than a full Hybrid Synergy Drive system used in current Toyota hybrids. Tada says the added weight of the system could be offset by weight reduction, while aerodynamic changes and a lower center of gravity could improve the car's handling.
No word yet on whether a mild hybrid system would find its way to North America's Scion FR-S - let alone its Subaru BRZ twin - but the thought is certainly an intriguing one.
Toyota hits 10 million Camry models sold in US
Tue, 02 Jul 2013This year marks 30 years of sales for the Toyota Camry in the US, and in that time, it has amassed more than 10 million sales. In its first year on the market, the Camry sold 52,651 units, but it has gone on to become the best-selling car in the US for the last 11 years.
Toyota says that "virtually all" current Camry models sold in the US are made here, and three-quarters of all Camry contents are domestically sourced. Scroll down for the official press release from Toyota, and be sure to check out our gallery of images showing every model year and bodystyle of the Camry since it first went on sale in 1983.
Toyota recalling select 2014 Camry and Avalon models
Thu, 06 Nov 2014Toyota has announced a rather small voluntary recall, affecting 5,650 Avalon and Camry sedans from model year 2014. Both gas and hybrid models are included in the action.
This recall focuses on the left front lower suspension arm, which may have a bad bolt connecting it to the ball joint. If the car hits a big enough pothole - a real concern as we head into winter - or suffers a major impact, the two components could separate, at which point steering control would more or less vanish.
According to Toyota, there have been no crashes, injuries or deaths due to this problem. Toyota is notifying owners, who will need to report to dealers for a free replacement lower suspension arm.
