1973 Toyota Fj40 Landcruiser V8 4x4 Fj 40 Land Cruiser on 2040-cars
Snohomish, Washington, United States
Up for sale is a 1973 Toyota FJ40 4x4 Landcruiser in good
condition. I bought this last June from the second owner. He bought the truck
in 1974. In the same year he installed a brand new factory purchased 327 V8.
The motor has since been untouched/unopened and runs very strong and starts
easy. The 4 wheel drive works great. The previous owner towed the truck behind
an RV and used as a hunting rig. The previous owner made a custom top for the
truck (he owns a metal fabrication shop) it does not leak. You can keep the
custom top on the truck or you can find an original top for the truck. The red
gas cans do not come with the truck, they are only to show the gas can mounting
system built by the previous owner. There are some rust spots on the truck. I
put the diamond plating on the corner and the sides but included pics from
before the plating was installed. The rust is very fixable. I welded some 18
guage plating onto the floor pan (pictured). There is a hole at the bottom of
the roll bar on the rear passenger wheel-well I included a picture of the sheet
metal I screwed over the hole, all the metal around the hole has surface rust
but is not thin. The truck has a new master cylinder and new tires with less
than 500 miles. The truck shows 94k miles but since the previous owner towed the truck behind an RV and used as a hunting truck, actual miles are lower but I can't give an exact number. The winch needs a solenoid box to operate (it got stolen).
Truck is licensed and I have a clear title in my name. Overall the truck is a
nice driver and gets a ton of looks. I have described the truck to the best of
my ability if you want to know more I appreciate all questions you may have and
will get back promptly.
Upon winning the auction buyer is responsible to pay a $500 non refundable deposit within 48 hours of auction end. Buyer is also responsible to arrange and pay all transportation fees. Good luck, thank you for looking! |

Toyota may return to F1 under Lexus banner
Wed, 03 Apr 2013A new report in from the website Club Lexus claims to have insider knowledge about a return to Formula One racing by Toyota, this time under the auspices of the Lexus brand. Toyota competed in F1 from 2002 through the 2009 season. That final year saw the team return competitive, if inconsistent results, but the larger economic woes in the automotive market made a decision to pull the plug relatively easy at the time.
Now, citing recent interviews with Toyota executives and insider sources, Club Lexus says that the move to re-enter F1 for the 2014 season is "all but finalized." The choice to go with the Lexus nameplate over Toyota makes some sense, too, considering the success that rival Infiniti has had in recent years through its partnership with Red Bull Racing. Further, the emerging Lexus identity as a performance car builder, with a strong background in hybrid vehicles, could help the F1 move resonate with buyers.
A few technological factors and formula changes within F1 offer some credence to the Lexus rumor, too. F1 will increase the available capacity of KERS from 60kW to 120kW, a change that theoretically benefits the hybrid-savvy Toyota. What's more, 2014 will see a switch from the current 2.4-liter V8 engines to 1.6-liter turbocharged V6s. A Lexus team that goes racing in 2014 will be on a level playing field with the rest of the grid then, with all teams adjusting to and continuing to develop the new engines.
Russians create Toyota Land Cruiser ice sculpture with full interior
Thu, 24 Jan 2013The Toyota Land Cruiser is a pretty hot model around the world. But it took the Russians to make it cool. We have few hard, cold facts and only small slivers of information about these photos, but it seems the icy Toyota was part of the International Snow & Ice Festival in Perm, Russia.
Artists took a huge chunk of ice and shaved it down to the temporary art installation you see here. The sub-zero SUV comes complete with a full interior accessed by the (permanently frozen open) driver's side door. The steering wheel and seats look to be upholstered in, well, dirt. With the back seats removed, the frigid four-door is a pretty slick ride in which to chill out.
Just a thought, but wouldn't a Toyota Tundra have been more appropriate? See the gallery for more photos.
Will Toyota lose up to 70% of its workforce in TX relocation?
Mon, 17 Nov 2014Toyota's decision to move its US headquarters from its longtime home in Torrance, CA, to Plano, TX, was one of the biggest stories in the automotive industry this spring. With several months since the announcement, more details about the plan have leaked out. It seems that pulling up stakes could mean an even larger shakeup in the Toyota workforce than first thought.
According to Automotive News, Toyota intends to hang onto around 50 percent of its workforce in the move to the Lone Star State. However, even that figure might be optimistic. According to an unnamed insider speaking to AN, there is a fear the actual number could be closer to 30 percent. For comparison, Nissan retained about 42 percent of its workers in its move from California to Tennessee.
The actual percentage making the move is a mystery because Toyota is still rewriting its job descriptions under a single set of guidelines. The changes affect benefits, bonuses and the reporting structure, according to Automotive News, and employees' reactions could play a big role in who decides to go. According to an unnamed worker speaking to AN, the wait is hurting morale. Some people are even applying at the nearby Honda headquarters.
