You wouldn't know it to look at it, but the 2005 Subaru Impreza WRX sedan is seriously fast and fun, packing high performance and all-wheel drive performance into a compact four-seater.  A turbo DOHC H4 2.5-liter engine gets 227-hp and 217 lb-ft of torque.  A 5-speed manual is in this model. Featuring limited slip rear and center differentials, 4-wheel ABS brakes, foglights, daytime running lights, and dual front-side airbags, the 2005 Impreza WRX earns the highest crash ratings.  This 2005 has 16-inch alloy wheels, body-colored ground effects, and standard automatic climate control.

Full power features, cruise control, a CD changer, intermittent wipers, tilt steering wheel, sport seats, and leather trim for the wheel and shifter are standard.  The rear seats split-fold, and do feature a pass-through to the 11 cubic foot trunk.  A rear spoiler is surprisingly not standard, but is on this car, along with an auto-dimming rearview mirror and skid plates. The turbocharged 2005 Impreza WRX gets less gas mileage than the other Imprezas, around 19/27 mpg.  Drivers call this a true sports car, with excellent turbo sound, great power, expert handling, and the added bonus of AWD.

I purchased my WRX used three years ago, and have loved every minute! What an amazing car that does so many things well. The mechanical build quality is superb, steering feedback is great and tracks like the cars on rails, and suspension is taught. The drivetrain is bullet proof. This Car was Adult Driven. The 2.0 L turbo and 5 speed manual are perfect matches. Fuel economy is great for a performance car, I average 22 mpg with highway commuting. I've only done routine maintenance (I only used Synthetics i.e. Royal Purple/Amsoil) and it's as strong as ever. The tires have roughly 8k on them.

2014 Subaru Forester XT

Tue, 14 May 2013

Power Doesn't Come Cheap
When Subaru first offered a turbocharged Forester XT model to US customers for the 2004 model year, the shoe-shaped second-gen model fell into a ready-made competitive set of small, V6-powered crossovers and SUVs. The XT might have been more of a raucous shopping-trip companion than, say, a Ford Escape V6, but the basics of the cars offered a clear differentiation from the naturally aspirated, four-cylinder models found just a bit downmarket. Here in 2013, the V6 breed of crossover in this size class is all but extinct, and turbocharged four-cylinders with the power to compete with the XT are not thick on the ground.
In many ways, the comparative analysis gets most interesting when you start looking around for CUVs to match up with the all-boxes-ticked Forester XT Touring that we had as a tester for a recent week. The top of the line Touring trim means that the Forester comes with features like 10-way power seats, leather, navigation, a Harmon Kardon sound system with HD radio, Bluetooth and more. In fact, our Forester also had the only option package available on the XT Touring; one that included keyless access, HID headlights and Subaru's EyeSight system (adaptive cruise, lane departure warning and pre-collision braking).

Next Subaru WRX and STI to go sedan only; reveal headed for LA

Mon, 26 Aug 2013

After a serious bit of teasing at the 2013 New York Auto Show, Subaru might be finally preparing to pull the sheets off of the production versions of the new WRX and STI. The venue, according to Automotive News, will be the 2013 Los Angeles Auto Show in November. Besides that tasty bit of info, AN has a number of other interesting ideas about the 2015 WRX.
If you've been a fan of the five-door bodystyle, don't read this - the next WRX and STI will reportedly go four-door only. We've already seen the latter's whopping great wing, a tradition we're happy to see soldering on for next-gen car. According to the AN report, power figures to be around 265 horsepower from a 2.5-liter, turbocharged, flat-four engine.
Los Angeles is still quite far off, so expect to hear more rumblings about a production WRX or STI in the coming weeks. Take a look above for our most recent batch of spy photos, and then hop down below for some images of the stunning WRX Concept that was shown at New York.

2015 Subaru WRX STI headed for Detroit, more WRX details leaked

Fri, 15 Nov 2013

The debuts of the 2015 Subaru WRX and the Legacy Concept at the Los Angeles Auto Show next week are kind of hogging the Subaru spotlight, making it easy to forget that there is a more potent, more aggressive version of the small sedan waiting in the wings. And based on a rumor from Australia, we'll see the sportier WRX STI at the Detroit Auto Show in January.
The report comes from Motoring in Australia, which claims that a more potent version of the WRX will make its debut in the Motor City, and that it will do so with an even 300 horsepower (five fewer than the current STI) and 290 pound-feet of torque (identical to the current car). Aside from the more potent 2.5-liter turbocharged flat four, the STI should boast the regular spread of aesthetic upgrades and suspension, brake, chassis and transmission tweaks.
The standard all-wheel-drive WRX will sprint to 60 mph in 5.4 seconds.
