Selling a 2003 Subaru Baja LDT 4 Door Sport Utility AWD Crew Cab Wagon.  The engine ( 2.5L H4 SFI SOHC 16V ) is equipped with the 4-speed Automatic Overdrive Transmission.. Has 253k miles with brand new timing belt & water pump just installed (less than 100 miles ago). EPA mileage estimate rates the Baja up to 29 MPG. The engine & transmission run fine with no mechanical problems/issues, nor any check engine lights on. The Baja runs and handles good, is clean, and has been well maintained. An attached Reese Highland low profile roof cargo basket is included. There is a new state inspection sticker that doesn't expire until May 2015. The sale includes an extra set of 4 Subaru alloy wheels with mounted & balanced 225 60R 16” BF Goodrich Advantage Tires with 90-95% treadlife remaining (almost new) (shown in a photo). The rims & tires alone if purchased separately would cost well over $1000.

The interior is in very good condition for the year. The interior carpeting, floor-mats(new) & two-tone leather upholstery are clean and in overall good condition. The drivers seat does show signs of wear & cracking along the outer side edge. Also on dash has a wired-in Sirius Radio controller. The lights, turn signals, wipers, and heating controls all work fine.

During the Baja's production years from 2003-2006, a total of only 30,000 were manufactured. Sale Includes a clean Carfax Vehicle History Report with Carfax Buyback Guarantee (The Baja's Carfax condition price is adjusted $510 above retail book value)The Baja has a clear Maine Title. Along with a Bill of Sale, the original factory 2003 Owners Manuals, and a Haynes Subaru Service Book is included

Six 'shut up and take my money' cars

Tue, 11 Nov 2014

Any time you see this iconic moment in pop culture - Shut up and take my money! - posted in response to a new car reveal, rumor for an upcoming model or even lip-service to a vehicle that should exist, you can bet there's some intrinsic good in the idea. Though depending on the person offering up the cash, that good could take the form of extraordinary form, functionality, weight savings, power, handling, etc. You get the idea.
In fact, when I first proposed this list, I reached out to the Autoblog staff to help me brainstorm. Here are some of the ideas they offered up that I ultimately didn't use: Jaguar XE Coupe, Pagani Huayra Roadster, Mercedes-Benz S-Class "parade car" (cabriolet), Morgan 3-Wheeler with Ducati V-twin, Ford Transit Connectamino (pickup), Mercedes CLA63 AMG, Ford Fusion 5.0, BMW i8 Spyder, Lexus RC-F Shooting Brake, Volvo XC90 Polestar. Oh, and things we collectively wanted to stick Dodge's Hellcat in were almost as numerous as models that Fiat Chrysler Automotive currently makes (though none quite so compelling as the Grand Cherokee you see above.)
Ultimately though, while I used a couple of ideas from my colleagues, the list of cars I'd shell out for unquestionably is very personal. Though it isn't complete, what follows is a selection of cars whose very existence would prompt me - or the trust-fund-baby versions of me - to utter without hesitation: "Shut up and take my money."

Subaru Legacy Concept has us getting our hopes up

Wed, 20 Nov 2013

It happens all the time. We get excited about a really attractive Subaru concept, and then the production car comes out and, well, "disappointed" isn't a strong enough word. (Compare that hot Impreza concept to the final production car.) So while we're hopeful that this new Legacy concept previews something sleek for Subaru, allow us to be fully on record as not getting our hopes up.
Anyway, let's talk about how good this car looks. From the front, comparisons to the Buick Regal GS are warranted, but from all other angles, it has a very four-door coupe-like shape. The concept rides on 21-inch wheels with bulging wheel arches that Subaru says hints at the car's all-wheel-drive system (standard Subaru fare, BRZ aside).
As for what exactly this concept previews, the safe guess is, of course, the next-generation Legacy midsize sedan. And while we'll keep our fingers crossed for a sweet-looking production sedan to come out of Fuji Heavy in the near future, it's safe to say we're still skeptical.

Toyota 86 most likely to get more power through more displacement? [w/poll]

Wed, 21 Aug 2013

The Sydney Morning Herald has spoken to Tetsuya Tada, chief engineer of the Toyota 86 (our version of it, the Scion FR-S, is pictured above), and they've been promised that more power is on the way. We've heard a lot of speculation about a more powerful Toyobaru since before the standard model was even launched. The only question now is how the power will be delivered, and among the engine concepts we've already heard about - turbo, supercharger, twin-charged, hybrid - is a new one: more displacement.
Tada said that an engine with more displacement than the current coupe's 2.0 liters is being tested alongside a turbocharged and a hybrid-assisted motor. The SMH cites "inside sources" as saying the displacement option is the one likely to get the go-ahead, and suggests increased bore and stroke will see the engine grow to 2.5 liters, horsepower to about 250 - a 50-hp increase over the present car.
While that's apparently the betting man's solution for the long-awaited increase in gumption, what happens with the next generation could be more wide open than we suspected. According to the report, Tada "hinted that [a successor] could be a radically different car, potentially dropping the boxer engine altogether." He said once they've sorted out the concept for the second generation car, then they'll sort out an engine. That's where a turbo option could come to market, perhaps the turbocharged four-cylinder Toyota is developing for the Lexus NX crossover or a hybrid system that uses a capacitor.
