This car is a true survivor car and in very good, all original condition.  The body has just one small area of surface rust above the front left wheel well (pictured), the convertible top has one small tear due to the hinge while the top was being put up/down (also pictured) but it's a surface tear and does not leak into the vehicle and those are the only flaws I see.  The interior is original and pretty flawless.  No cracks or tears anywhere.  Structurally, this car is very solid and in fantastic shape for it's age.  It will also come with all the original manuals in the original Saab pouch and the fog light covers will also be included.

My history with this car: I purchased it about five years ago from the second owner, then I proceeded to drive it as often as I could.  The only real thing I did was replace the muffler, added the sheepskin seat covers and I put in a brand new battery about a week ago.  It was in near perfect working order when I got it but with how often I was driving it, it soon started to show it's age.  I am not a mechanic, nor do I attempt to be, so the little things that started going wrong piled up which is now the reason I am letting it go to someone that wants to restore it to the gem that it can be.  Following is a list of the mechanical issues that I know of:

-The muffler and tailpipe were replaced about two years ago, about a year later the pipe just in front of the muffler got a hole so it's loud
-the top/middle brake light works but the two bottom ones do not
-power steering does not work
-brakes need work
-odd sound in a front wheel
-tires need to be replaced
-radio works but the cassette player does not
-heated seats don't work
-a good, solid tune up would help, too
-it came to me with a brand new car cover but since I always kept it in a garage I rarely used it.  I unfolded it recently only to find that a mouse  seems to have chewed a few small holes in it.  It can still be used to keep dust off but not for outdoor use.

Again, this is an amazing, solid, car that can be made amazing again with a little effort.  I had wanted one of these for a long time so when this popped up for sale, right near my house I jumped at the chance, now I'm letting it go to someone else that has the same fondness for these cool cars, so I can move onto another classic.

Victor Muller to pay Sweden back taxes for Saab work

Thu, 03 Oct 2013

Victor Muller, Saab's CEO from 2010 to 2011, has been ordered by the Swedish court to pay the back taxes he owes the country for his work at Saab, Autoweek and Volkskrant report. When he was the automaker's CEO he received a salary of about 8 million Swedish Krona ($1.25 million), which was recorded as a reward for consultancy work for a company in the US that Muller owns. The move allowed him to evade taxes for awhile, but the court has ordered him to pay taxes on his full salary.
Muller, who is also CEO of Spyker, and two other Saab executives were accused of accounting fraud in May, which took place in 2010 and 2011. According to reports, Muller maintains that he is not subject to taxes in Sweden.

Saab US bankruptcy plan gets legal green-light

Thu, 18 Jul 2013

It feels utterly bizarre that we're still talking about Saab, but Reuters is reporting that the bankrupt Swedish manufacturer's American arm has gotten approval from the US Bankruptcy Court to liquidate its assets and pay back creditors. As part of the plan, secured creditors like Ally Financial will receive full repayment. Unsecured creditors, consisting of those affected by abandoned leases and contracts will get anywhere from 25 to 82 percent of their money back.
There are currently $77 million in unsecured claims, according to Reuters, but that number doesn't include claims from former Saab dealers. Naturally, the entire affair is full of lawyers and legalese. A trust formed on the Saab side will be negotiating with creditors and their affiliates in an attempt to reduce claims against Saab. This sounds like the start of a long and sordid affair...

GM recalls over 230,000 more Trailblazer-family SUVs over door electronics

Sun, 16 Jun 2013

Back in August, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration announced a recall on the General Motors GMT360 SUVs (Buick Rainier, Chevrolet Trailblazer, GMC Envoy, Isuzu Ascender and Saab 9-7X) ranging from the 2005 to 2007 model years and the 2006 GMT370 SUVs (Chevrolet Trailblazer EXT and GMC Envoy XL) due to potential fires associated with the driver's door module. Initially limited to 250,000 units sold or registered in 20 Snow Belt states (and the District of Columbia), the recall has now been expanded to include an additional 193,000 of these SUVs in the US and, according to The Detroit News, 40,000 more sold outside the US, including Canada and Mexico.
Like the original recall, the issue is still a faulty driver's door module that can short out, which could lead to a fire. The Detroit News is reporting that, out of the 443,000 units being recalled, GM says that there were 58 fires that caused 11 minor injuries, and the expanded recall accounted for six fires and one injury. Despite the lower number of fires, the recall notice recommends that owners park their vehicles until the recall repairs has been performed.
On recalled units with functional modules, the repair consists of a protective coating being applied to the module, while vehicles with modules that are not working properly will have the driver's door module replaced. The official recall notice is posted below, and it includes contact information for customers of all five brands.
