1992 Porsche 968 Cabriolet - White With Blue Interior And Top - 6 Spd Manual on 2040-cars

Year:1992 Mileage:115000
Location:

Port Saint Lucie, Florida, United States

Port Saint Lucie, Florida, United States

Mechanically good 1992 Cabriolet.  Original top and paint.  Original convertible cover also in good condition.

This car is still one of the best handling cars on the road today.  It is a lot of fun to drive and gets lots of smiles and comments from others on the road.  Used mostly as a weekend car now, but has seen periods of use as a very reliable everyday vehicle.  One of approximately 700 cabriolets delivered in 1992 to the North American market.

This car is a well kept and has been garaged most of it's last 10 years.  Previous history mostly unknown, but some records came with the car when I purchased it in 2005.  Major service records from 2005 and on.  PCA member from 2005 thru 2013.  Carfax indicates that I am likely the fifth owner of this vehicle.

Lots of parts have been updated / replaced / repaired.  Major service performed a couple of thousand miles ago included timing belt / balance shaft service, replacement of the steering rack, and front suspension bushings.  This car runs and drives better than when I purchased it.

Some normal wear and tear to the paint and interior, especially considering that this vehicle is nearly 25 years old.  Slight cracking of the leather on the upper exposed portion of the doors and minor wear of the driver's seat are the most obvious areas of note (see pictures).  Passenger seat is in good shape.  The rear window plastic is cracked at one location and has a small crease at a second.  The crack has been sealed using reinforced clear duct tape.  I tried to capture these items in the included pictures.  The top does not leak.

There are no dash cracks.  The remote trunk release, the car alarm, and the power door locks all function properly.  Even the clock still works and keeps accurate time.  The tool kit is also complete.  The original mechanic's gloves that were in the storage cubby in the engine compartment are missing.

Air conditioning is functioning but requires normal service and a recharge.  Previous service and recharge was performed in 2010.  System runs, but stopped cooling about a year ago.  Car is currently used only for 'top down' motoring so recharging the a/c has not been a priority.

Tires are in good shape, as is the rest of the car.  I would not hesitate to take this car on a road trip of any sort.

I am currently preparing to move due to a job relocation and will not have room for this vehicle at my new location.  Last time I moved I had to get rid of my 1988 BMW M6.  The Porsche made it through that move but I can't hang on to it this time around....needless to say downsizing and moving are not very high on my list of things I look forward to.

Car is available for local inspection.  Let me know if there are any additional pictures of features that you would like to see and I will try to get them taken and posted or sent to you.

Shipping is to be arranged by the purchaser or the car can be picked up locally.  Vehicle will be stored in my garage for a short period of time to allow time for delivery arrangements.

Volkswagen Group previews its wares on eve of Geneva show

Mon, 05 Mar 2012

The Volkswagen Group is comprised of 11 brands producing 240 vehicles across 49 factories throughout the world. So the best way to show off the range of the VW family is to cram a few thousand journalists and VIPs into a massive makeshift stand to outline the Group's goals, what's in the pipeline and what you'll be able to buy later this year.
To that end, VW pulled out all the stops on the eve of the 2012 Geneva Motor Show, bringing along 10 vehicles from across the range. We'll be delving into the details of each over the next two days of show coverage, but before that happens, you can read all about what we saw tonight from the cheap seats after the break.

Porsche 959 Prototype started it all

Wed, 11 Sep 2013

While Porsche was unveiling the new Nürburgring-dominating 918 Spyder downstairs in Hall 3 here at the Frankfurt Messe, there was another Porsche supercar quietly and discretely on display upstairs in the same hall. That, of course, was the 959. But not just any 959: this was the original Gruppe B prototype.
The 959 was first developed as a rally car in the early 80s to compete with the likes of the original Audi Sport Quattro S1, Ford RS200 and Lancia Delta S4. But Zuffenhausen soon saw its potential as a production road-going supercar, emerging as a technological marvel to challenge the decidedly linear approach of the Ferrari F40. It still stands as a groundbreaking supercar in its own right, but also lead to the first all-wheel-drive 911 Turbo and set the stage for the Carrera GT and aforementioned 918 Spyder that followed to cap the top of the evolving Porsche range.
This original Gruppe B prototype, which presaged the production 959, packed a 450-horsepower 2.8-liter twin-turbo flat-six into an even sleeker form than the final version that followed. We caught up with it on display as part of a display of 80s German classics, of which this 959 prototype immediately stood out as the pick of the proverbial litter. Check out the hotness in the high-resolution image gallery above.

Porsche Cayman, Boxster caught in GTS trim

Sat, 18 Jan 2014

A few months ago, we reported on some leaked information from an internal presentation for upcoming Porsche models. This included details about the Macan and the 911 Targa, which we now know to be true, but there was also talk about GTS versions of the Cayman and Boxster.
Well, it appears we're now getting our first look at these GTS models, as our spy photographers have just snapped a pair of Porsche prototypes out testing - one Cayman and one Boxster.
Right off the bat, we can see that both GTS-branded cars will get a slightly tweaked exterior with new fascias (bringing LED daytime running lights to the Cayman) and air diffusers at the rear. The true gem of these cars will be the added horsepower to the tune of 340 horsepower - a 15-hp bump. A manual transmission will likely be standard, as will Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM).
