1986 Porsche 944 Turbo on 2040-cars

Year:1986 Mileage:86000
Location:

Whitehall, Pennsylvania, United States

Whitehall, Pennsylvania, United States

This is your chance to own a true classic.  It's the first year for the 944 Turbo.  This is an unmolested car with the correct Porsche phone dial wheels in great shape. The car has been my daily driver since the snow has stopped falling in the Northeast and it is a pleasure to drive.  The clutch and the transmission function properly along with the heat and defrost.  All power options function, i.e. windows, sunroof, etc. without any leaking.  A/C compressor comes on, but it is still too cold to tell how cold it blows. Alpine A/M, F/M, CD player works well along with the front and back Kenwood speakers.
The car has Porsche brake calipers on all four corners.

This car is a true driver.  There are minor paint blemishes on the top of the passenger side front fender and a door ding on the driver's side door (see pictures).  Interior is in great shape, especially for a car from 1986. There are no rips and only minor wear on the seats.  The dash has a few small cracks near the vents as all 944's do.

The car just underwent a full belt service along with pulleys.  At that time, the water pump was inspected and appears to be recently replaced.  So the timing belt was replaced even though the old one looked relatively new. The tires have 95% tread.

The car is being offered at no reserve, so bid to own.  PPI's are welcome and encouraged.

All in all, a great car for daily driving or even track use. There are not many 944 Turbos out there that have not been chipped or abused.  As you can see in the pictures, the sunroof cover and tool kit come with the car.  I did not have this car detailed to hide any imperfections.  Looks as though there was an insert in-between the tail lights that has been removed and license plate holes on rear bumper are filled in.

Currently has antique plates and is titled in Pennsylvania.  Call Sam at 484-375-5667  with any questions or specific pictures you may want.  In closing, I have owned Porsche's for over 20 years and I can say you will not find one in this shape at a no reserve auction.

This car is sold as is, where is, with no warranty express or implied.

New Porsche 4-cyl engines to range from 1.6L to 2.5L

Mon, 02 Jun 2014

Recent rumors of a turbocharged, flat-four-engine from Porsche for the Boxster (pictured testing above), Cayman and maybe other models go back over a year. The latest scuttlebutt indicates that there could be three variants on the horizon with 1.6-, 2.0- and 2.5-liter displacements and power as high as 360 horsepower.
Car magazine in the UK claims to have access to the specifications for the project and thinks the 2.0- and 2.5-liter versions are guaranteed for production for the Boxster and Cayman. However, it believes a question mark still looms over the 210-hp 1.6L because the engine would go into a new, smaller sports car that still doesn't have a green light for production.
Regardless of displacement, the new fours would be turbocharged and direct-injected. The 2.0-liter would produce around 286 hp and 295 pound-feet of torque, and the 2.5-liter would make about 360 hp and 347 lb-ft. Earlier reports pegged some parts sharing with the current flat-six.

Infiniti cribs new US boss from Porsche

Mon, 19 Aug 2013

Just weeks before he was supposed to become CEO of Porsche Cars Australia, Infiniti has apparently offered Porsche COO and Executive Vice President Michael Bartsch a deal he couldn't refuse. Thus, Bartsch has join the company as Vice President of Infiniti Americas, the luxury marque's top North American post. Bartsch replaces Ben Poore, who has been with the automaker since 2008, having led both a 22-percent sales surge in 2012 and the brand's current sales slough, Automotive News reports.
Bartsch, Porsche's No. 2 US executive, has held the COO and Executive Vice President positions at Porsche since 2005 and was scheduled to become CEO of Porsche's Oz division on September 1. Infiniti has experienced a number of recent personnel changes in the past week: it named Vincent Gillet, formerly an executive for Starwood Hotels & Resorts, to lead its marketing efforts worldwide and Simon Cox, a former designer for automakers including Ford and Peugeot, to head a new design studio in London.
Poore reportedly will pursue other interests outside of the auto industry. Read more about the personnel change in the press release below.

Porsche 918 Spyder configurator goes live

Fri, 13 Sep 2013

That didn't take long. The debut model of the new Porsche 918 Spyder is still thronged by onlookers at the Frankfurt Motor Show, while the German sports car maker is hard at work putting the first version of the supercar's configuration page online. Considering Porsche configurators are some of our favorite time-wasters of the genre, we expect car-guy productivity to drop by a few percentage points over the rest of the day.
So, the 918 dream-maker doesn't list and prices as yet, and that's too bad. But considering the car is due to start off at $845,000 in the US, chances are good that unless you're reading this from the shallow end of your Uncle Scrooge-spec money pool, the cost of any part of the 918 is academic to you anyway.
To start, Porsche is offering twelve paint colors, three wheel choices and seven two-tone interior treatments. Standard lightweight bucket seats and a set of chairs with "firmer padding" are on offer, too. The options list is mostly populated with interior bits, though many - an anti-reflection interior, fire extinguisher, six-point seatbelts - are racing-oriented or functional. Note that Porsche is also kind enough to offer just one cupholder as an optional extra; the unit is made of aluminum and is detachable so that you won't have to carry the extra weight during racing. Also, Porsche probably puts you on some kind of naughty 'list' if you order one...
