 '87 944 Turbo  NO RESERVE purchased 2006 w/ 219500 miles; current speedometer mileage 231840;  this does not include 3357 miles put on car while it had a different speedometer; original speedo stopped working; the swapped in speedo stopped working; using parts from a third speedo, I repaired the original in July, 2011 and it has functioned, along with all instruments in the cluster since; mileage under my ownership is 15697   Age/health prompt this sale;  Up until this past yr., car was basically a weekend driver/garage queen while I restored and modified it
Vehicle purchased on eBay; seller indicated car was primarily for track, though he said it had not been tracked since being prepared; I will include documentation of my eBay purchase with the sale of the car presently along with documents I have accumulated over the yrs.- mostly receipts for parts, as I performed most of the restoration work myself
SUMMERY of vehicle description from the 9-10-06 ebay auction:  Engine was rebuilt by Eurosport of Virginia Beach VA. at about 214000 miles; rebuild included Raceware rod bolts, a swapped engine block that was sleeved and built with new parts; build sheet will be in the documents provided with the car;  additionally, new Cup clutch and stock pressure plate were installed, new throwout bearing and all the various seals, gaskets etc;  track components included Speedforce Racing Stage 2 turbo, 55lbs injectors, SFR MAF, APE chip,
ARC 2 fuel controller, AFPR, Lindsey Racing dual port wastegate/manual boost control, reworked exhaust system w/ free flow cat and Magnaflow muff (polished)
New water pump, rebuilt power steering pump and steering rack (but build sheet does not document the rack); I replaced the high pressure hose on the rack several yrs ago
Limited slip, chrome moly GT Racing torque biasing tranny for 911 Turbo (930) from Winward Performance Products (Putney, VT) installed (sales receipt for this included);  new half shafts and rebuilt front A arms (though no direct documentation of this)
Adjustable Koni shocks with 550lbs springs up front, Weltmeister sway bars front/rear;  SS brake lines
MY RESTORATION/CHANGES:  I was not racing the car, so the roll bar was removed and sold; the body, while pretty straight and rust free needed paint; a good, driver quality respray was optained, w/ dings removed; all glass, mirrors, doors handles removed for paint, as was front bumper;  virtually all the rubber on the car replaced- easier to say what wasn't:  outer/inner lower window scrapers and passenger side upper window seal; do not know if this is the original carpet, but nonetheless, it is in very good shape- only issues being where holes were cut to mount roll bar in back seat foot wells; these now cover by floor mates; holes in drivers front where center harness strap bolted to floor- covered by mat, but not noticeable otherwise;  seat belt receivers remain bolted to floor as per the cars racing setup
Mint condition rear quarter carpet pieces installed; mediocre stock rear hatch carpet covered by near mint aftermarket carpet; well preserved rear quarter panels from a Turbo S model added; all trim in otherwise excellent shape, as are the sunvisors;  no rear seats except the seat bottoms;  Dash is toast- I cover w/ dash mat; dash trim pieces NOS except the ignition switch surround; rebuilt digital clock; used but very nice Momo "Race" wheel with Porsche crest horn button (nonop horn) and carbon fiber horn ring;  airbags removed (driver) or nonop/disabled;  SS door sills w/ Porsche crests, aluminum trim on plastic doorsill/carpet trim; Momo black leather shift knob, red leather boot, Momo pedals, very nice armrest (vinyl) but hinge is failing; hatch shocks replaced by me at some point; hood shocks getting weak;  no stock seats came with car; I have installed Recaro clones- pretty nice looking seats, hearty cloth, lacking lumber support, but good lateral- and lite weight
MECHANICALS:  Zimmerman X drilled rotors front/rear with Mintex pads; repack wheel bearing/new seals all around 220440 miles; Schnell short shift linkage at the tranny, SFR short stick in cockpit; New turbo water pump (known issue:  when hot, pump runs on- either its temp sensor or relay, hasn't been problematic enough to fix) Tial 38mm Wastegate w/ SS adapters (from Pauer Tuning, along with billet fuel rail from them); SS fuel lines, Aeromotive AFPR, Marren damper, glycerine filled FP gauge on AFPR;  Laust multiport vacuum manifold; cycling valve delete, LR heater valve delete, silicon hoses and tubing;  8mm plug wires, new NKG plugs (one step colder than stock); petcock type oil drain plug SFR SS Stage 1 headers, LR copper gaskets to X-over pipe; 2 piece LR X-over pipe with Jet Hot ceramic coating;  most of this done somewhere around 224000 miles
Pulled the cylinder head to install headers, found bad ceramic in one exhaust port; purchased used head off IMSA race car, ported intake valves (near 2" big), lightened valve retainers, O-ringed (have eBay receipt for this);  Cometic head gasket used;  cam housing end seals replaced, housing gasket new, adjustable LR cam gear installed
TURBO:  seller indicated SFR stage 2/ball bearing turbo, I worried about shaft play so purchased used Kokelin Stage 2 (eBay receipt);  purchased rebuild kit from G-Pop Turbo shop (Arizona I believe);  during rebuild discovered SFR wasn't ball bearing but Kokelin was; however, proprietary ball bearing not replaceable per G-Pop, so purchased 360 degree journal from them along with rebuild kit; mated the SFR cold side with the Kokelin hot side (#8, other details in the eBay receipt) which I had Jet Hot ceramic coated as well; boost comes on later, around 3300rpm, but pulls strong to redline; a bit of smoke on start up if car has been sitting more than a day; no other unusual oil consumption noticed, though I change oil every 3000/3-4 months, more usually in time frame than mileage 'cause I did not put that many miles on car
MAF:  replaced with used Vitesse Racing unit with piggyback, tuned for the 55lbs injectors and 93+ octane (I can get 100 octane locally, mix it with California's 91); Innovate Wideband A/F gauge in 3 hole cubby spot under radio along with 2 Cyberdyne digital gauges, currently nonop;  I went through 4-5 Cyberdyne digitals, lost some LEDs in all; ones installed work, just with out some LED; they are not however, hooked up;  wiring is there, labelled adequately I hope, to hook up or swap out
High torque, gear reduction started, did the Nissan Quest smaller alternator swap; current unit is new this year;  KLA strut bar, NOS AOS hose, Kevlar timing belt, new balance shaft belt (no auto tensioner- I have one if seller wants);  LR fuel injection harness; power steering pump replaced with used unit if I didn't it already
New coolant tank--I have been using Evans waterless coolant, the racing variety, which appears no longer available, though regular Evans coolant is still; coolant perhaps should be changed at this point, as the brake fluid, the Super Blue in it now has few miles but quite a few yrs;  trans fluid changed one yr ago, been using Redline MT90, along with Valvoline oil, even the 50 weight racing stuff in summer; 10W40 or 30 in winter;  K/N oil filters and K/N cone filter, new when Vitesse MAF installed;  oil filter sandwich plate with oil temp sensor feed an oil temp gauge I used to run in A pillar gauge pod, along with digital boost gauge;  pod and gauges will be auctioned at later date; however, all plumbing and wiring for the is in place as I recall
MISC.:  various hoses, coolant or otherwise, radiator water temp sender, idler pulley, distributor cap and other odds/ends;  other ceramic coated items of note:  intake manifold, various coolant pipes- over headers, distribution pipe up front, a couple on front of engine;  crank seal replaced twice, 2nd time with new oil pump drive gear;  still leaks some oil there I believe--this is a known issue with the car; CPR front splitter, and both belly pans are on the car
MISC.:  external mirrors have new black bezels, motors and glass;  SS hatch pins; sunroof convert to manual;  all running lites have NOS lenses, as are the front turn signal lenses along with Euro style fog lamps; however, I could not get fogs operational- not sure they get power;  Cibie headlite lenses which need to be adjusted properly;  issues like these were low priority for me; passenger front running lite is out--bulb I think, but right rear running lite was similar- I ran wire from driver side power to the right side as quick fix and have not messed with it since; vehicle has aftermarket remote door lock system which works, but driver side microswitch needs replacing to it to unlock the doors;  battery is several yrs old at least- it should be noted on the battery top
Polished Porsche script door handles which have lost their shine due to being in the weather regularly; they look as though they have been zinc galvanized;  I think they would polish up again, but I have not been motivated to try
Tint on quarter windows and hatch glass, old tint on cabin windows is considerably scratched and in need of removal/replacement; tint on hatch is separating in the upper corners, not terribly noticeable but there nonetheless; I had the hatch off trying to reseal the glass in the upper corners where it is separating from the frame- the sealant I used may have contributed to the separation; hatch glass is separating as mentioned, allowing some water seepage at the upper corners; it sealed well with Gorilla tape along the leading edge of the hatch; however, eventually the tape shrunk, leaving a messy adhesive track;  I replaced it with a black vinyl racing strip, which looks better but is beginning to tear at the corners of the hatch due to flex between glass and frame when opened/closed--another known issue
There is a slight water leak at the drivers head, front corner of sunroof; the seal was replaced prior to manual conversion, but this seems not to help currently; I recently endeavored to clear the drain holes, but not sure this helped; the manual conversion may not be sealing as tightly, but again, this hasn't been a major issue that has gotten my attention, but it is a known issue
Windshield was replaced with OEM glass shortly after painting the car, which I believe I had done sometime in fall of 2007;  I have the rubber windshield trim but never installed; glass was not set quite evenly in the frame, and it will take some modification of the trim piece to adequately fit;  I never addressed this because, frankly, I did not notice the issue very much;  the trim will be supplied with the sale of the car

16" phone dial wheels are decent from 10 feet; was going to refinish, but did not get around to it; tires will need replacing; no unusual wear that I can see, but the car has not been aligned on my watch
Tail lites in good shape, one small spider crack in amber section of passenger side; converted the empty space to hold a bulb- I believe it is with the regular driving lites; some bulbs are LED around the car
Removed rear rubber bumpers; had body man fill holes in the aluminum bumper; I filled holes in the plastic bumper caps; driver side cap's paint has failed, and presently the former bumper cap, with hole, is mounted; I will include the problem cap- it be salvageable
Another known mechanical issue:  Kevlar timing belt needs to be tensioned and adjustable timing gear needs adjusting-  I think I dialed in too much advance;  then with the Vitesse piggyback tuner, the A/F can be better set
STEREO:  Pioneer head unit, 61/2" Infinity Kappa component speakers in rear quarter panels, the Kappa tweeters in custom installation location in the unused seat belt openings in the rear hatch carpet panels; 4x6" older Kappa two way plate speakers in door panels;  Kenwood powered sub in spare tire well, and a 4 channel (I think), fan cooled amp in the passenger side cubby  well; doors were covered in a Dynamat like material
Car fax appears clear excepting the gross smog issue, which was my first attempt at tuning the car; as set up presently, the car would not pass California visual smog inspection in the engine compartment, though I trust it would pass the emissions aspect with its current tune; however, this tune is too rich for big performance;  timing would need to be addressed before dealing with the overly rich operation
Final known non-mechanical issue:  besides a few rock chips, paint/body in pretty good shape; some bubbling of paint, drivers door near the front bottom edge; hard to see without getting down to see it; used touch up paint and have kept watch of it, thinking it may be rust, but it does not seem to have gotten any worse since the car was painted;  last summer, while sitting in the gym parking lot, I believe some workers who were weed eating clipped the passenger side front fender, putting a nasty, paint chipped dent;  my body man quoted me $200 to fix, saying he thought it would probably need to be pulled slightly verses simply filling;  I have maybe 1/3rd a quart of the paint he used that will come with the car along w/ other touch up paint;  see photos of this dent
An older, Colgan black external bra will come with the car if new owner desires;  to prevent the scuffing of the new paint that would have accompanied the use of the bra, I applied Armoral's rubberized paint protection spray on front of car under the bra; it has worked well to prevent paint damage, and is to be easily peeled off; but this has not proven to be the case (see pics); it seems to be too thin and does not want to peel in larger sections; when I tried removing it at the passenger fender, it resulted in looking more like severely sunburned skin;  I will include the one and one half cans of remaining spray with the sale;  perhaps applying a thicker layer will help it come off;  it does come off with bug/tar remover, but makes a gooey mess in doing so

Infiniti cribs new US boss from Porsche

Just weeks before he was supposed to become CEO of Porsche Cars Australia, Infiniti has apparently offered Porsche COO and Executive Vice President Michael Bartsch a deal he couldn't refuse. Thus, Bartsch has join the company as Vice President of Infiniti Americas, the luxury marque's top North American post. Bartsch replaces Ben Poore, who has been with the automaker since 2008, having led both a 22-percent sales surge in 2012 and the brand's current sales slough, Automotive News reports.
Bartsch, Porsche's No. 2 US executive, has held the COO and Executive Vice President positions at Porsche since 2005 and was scheduled to become CEO of Porsche's Oz division on September 1. Infiniti has experienced a number of recent personnel changes in the past week: it named Vincent Gillet, formerly an executive for Starwood Hotels & Resorts, to lead its marketing efforts worldwide and Simon Cox, a former designer for automakers including Ford and Peugeot, to head a new design studio in London.
Poore reportedly will pursue other interests outside of the auto industry. Read more about the personnel change in the press release below.

Porsche Cayenne shows a bit more face, plug-in spotted

Porsche was first rumored to be working on a plug-in hybrid (PHEV) version of the Cayenne over a year ago. However, we had never seen it, until now. The new model was caught almost completely undisguised while testing. In another stroke of luck, we got a glimpse of the upcoming facelift for Porsche's SUV (pictured above) as well.
According to the spy shooter, it was windy during the cars' cold weather testing. The cover blew off of the facelifted Cayenne, and there was enough time to snap these pictures before it could be hidden again. The changes are all quite minor but jive with what we saw the last time it was spied. The rear still wears some cladding but is expected to be hiding lights similar to the Macan.
The second gallery shows off the upcoming Cayenne PHEV. It looks nearly identical to the standard model, except for the extra panel on the driver's side of the car that hides the electric port. One image even shows the car plugged in. The new version is expected to use the same supercharged 3.0-liter V6 and 9.4-kilowatt-hour lithium-ion battery pack with a combined 416 horsepower and 435 pound-feet of torque from the Panamera S E-Hybrid. We enjoyed the system when we tested it last year. It's rumored to debut on the SUV sometime this year.

2014 Porsche Panamera 4S Executive

If the idea of a Porsche sedan (or, long hatchback) is still off-putting to you, then you might want to look away now. For 2014, the polarizing Panamera has received a midcycle refresh bringing slightly different styling, as well as adding two new models to the lineup, the S E-Hybrid and the stretched-wheelbase Executive. Having focused most of my recent trip to Germany on a First Drive of the intriguing plug-in Panamera, I also got to spend some time with the roomier Executive model.
Offered in both 4S and Turbo guise, the Panamera Executive has been stretched by almost six inches for the sole purpose of improving rear passenger space. Although it's hard to imagine anyone would willingly buy a Porsche and opt to sit in the back seat, I'd have to say that if I'm going to be chauffeured around in a car, why not make it a Porsche? For the most part, though, I'm guessing that many Panamera Executive sedans will be owned by people who want to one-up their buddy driving a stretched BMW 7 Series or Mercedes-Benz S-Class.
