This 928 S4 is hands down a fun car to drive and makes me smile every time I drive her. She starts effortlessly and produces that strong sounding rumble letting you know that you got a 316hp 5.0L V8 sitting under the hood. The automatic transmission goes through all the gears and the suspension feels tight. It accelerates, shifts, and stops just like it should. The paint and body is in decent shape, but we repainted the sunroof and front bumper due to the clear coat flaking off. This car looks good considering it is 26 years old. It also has that rare GTS style rear bumper panel with the reflective strip that runs between the tail lights. Haven't seen too many like that, but it does make it stand out from all the other S4s. Very sexy looking car. This car was recently gone through by our Porsche 928 technician/specialist. Some of the recent work done to this car includes: Speedometer serviced and tested by a speedo calibration service shop Smog pump belt New front and rear Velozza tires New CD/radio unit New battery Horn repaired Passenger side taillight repaired Sunroof and front bumper painted All 4 wheels painted The car does have some flaws, so please check out the photos. The dash has some cracks and the driver seat has some tears. The passenger seat is actually pretty decent. There are a few stone chips (as expected) on the front. There may be little scratches or tiny dents here and there, but nothing major. The AC does not work. The passenger side fog light plastic lens has a crack in it, but the light still works. Original spare tire and tools are missing. The description above was done to the best of my ability, however, with all pre-owned vehicles, the condition of any vehicle is subjective to the viewer. Porsche 911 GT2 caught testing, is super bad
Thu, 27 Jun 2013Look what spy photographers have spotted sprinting around the Nürburgring. Our shooters nabbed a few photos of the all-new Porsche 911 GT2 in its native habitat without any of the bulky camouflage or cladding we're used to seeing. The result is our first truly clear view at the upcoming successor to the GT2 throne. From the looks of it, the new model will boast wider fender arches front and rear, and hefty air intakes set into the machine's hips should help feed a beastly 3.8-liter flat six-cylinder engine. Early guesses put the engine output somewhere around 560 horsepower.
Mated to a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission, the engine should propel this rear-engined heathen to 62 miles per hour in under three seconds. Top speed? Try somewhere around 200 mph. If that's true, the next-generation 911 GT2 will be the fastest 911 in Porsche history.
Porsche bringing Macan S Diesel to US instead of 4-cylinder [w/poll]
Mon, 16 Dec 2013When Porsche unveiled the new Macan at the LA Auto Show, it announced two powerplants for the US market, both of them twin-turbo V6s: the Macan S equipped with 340 horsepower from its 3.0-liter engine, and the Macan Turbo with 400 horses from 3.6 liters. But those aren't the only engines Porsche will offer in its new compact crossover. Porsche is also offering the Macan S Diesel overseas with 258 hp, and reports have since indicated that a pair of four-cylinder models on their way: a 2.0-liter turbo four with 280 hp and four-pot turbodiesel of the same capacity with an as-yet undisclosed output.
Now Car and Driver is reporting that while those four-cylinder engines won't be making the transatlantic voyage to our shores, Porsche will offer the aforementioned Macan S Diesel in North America beginning in early 2015, nearly a year after the gas V6 versions arrive.
The 3.0-liter turbodiesel V6 is based on the same engine found in the Cayenne Diesel and the Audi Q5 TDI on which the Macan is based. Of course, its 248 hp is substantially less than the 340 ponies in the Macan S, but its 413 pound-feet of torque outshines not only the 339 lb-ft in the Macan S but also the 406 lb-ft in the Macan Turbo. Acceleration times, however, suggest the Macan S Diesel is still slower, with a 6.3-second run to 62 mph than neither the Macan S (5.4 sec) or Macan Turbo (4.8). The good news is that the Macan S Diesel is tipped to undercut the price of both, dropping the oil-burning crossover's MSRP below that of the $49,900 starting price for the Macan S and the $49,600 for the base Cayenne. If that C/D prediction comes to pass, that will make it the Macan S Diesel most affordable Porsche sold.
Porsche celebrates 50 years of 911 with some excellent pics
Tue, 12 Feb 2013The Porsche 911 is one of the most iconic sports cars of all time, and to celebrate the car's first 50 years, Porsche has released a stunning set of photos showing how far the 911 has come from the original back in 1963 to its current 991 generation. Unlike the recent 60-year photo spread that Chevrolet put together for the Corvette, though, Porsche's gallery only shows the original 911 and the current car.
Each time the 911 is redesigned, the car's front fenders, roofline and the shape of the side windows are key focal points. Even some of the interior cues have remained the same over the years, including the positioning of the ignition key on the left of the steering column and the five-gauge instrument cluster layout.
