Here is a very nice driver quality 914.  You do not see many of these on the road and this is definitely a great looker.  Let me start off by saying this is not a perfect 914 or a 10k plus vehicle.  This is a local car show vs. a barrett jackson vehicle.  From ten feet the car looks new but I have photographed a couple bubbles on the front fender and the door jam.  It runs absolutely perfect.  The interior is about as nice as you will find.  All electrical works including the clock and interior lights.  There is one small crack on the dash right below stereo.  If you look you can see in the photo.

It has the electronic fuel injection, you turn the key to prime for five seconds then start.  As mentioned this vehicle is whisper quiet and shifts fantastic.  It has the normal shifting oddities of older porsches.  It was repainted the original zambezi green, you can see all the original tags, new rims and tires.  Engine bay very clean as is the upfront tire compartment.  The hellhole, battery tray etc...has some minor rust.  The actual engine is nearly spotless.  The battery tray could be replaced but still holds the battery.  With these 914s it is always important to check the closing of the doors etc...with windows up and down as this is how you can tell the stability of frame etc...Targa top is excellent and seals perfect.  Drives straight and smooth.  Bumpers/rubber is perfect, no fading.

I also have a stack of receipts dating back to 1979 for this car.  Again, not a showstopper but a very nice driver that will provide years and years of enjoyment.  The odometer has stopped working but title shows actual mileage at 80992.  I only drive this car in fair weather so I barely put miles on it.  I am selling a couple of my older vehicles to fund the restoration of my 1958 356a.  This is an inexpensive top off cruiser that gets more looks than a 40k car for almost a tenth of the price.  Where else can you get such a unique vehicle for such a small price.  If you are looking for a perfect vehicle, it is not for you.  If you are looking for a great driving classic that is fun to cruise town or head to dinner in, this is it.  Any questions let me know.

Porsche planning customer driving center at Le Mans

Fri, 29 Nov 2013

Porsche seems to be on a campaign to build driving centers for its customers to allow them to experience the capabilities of their cars on track. It has one under way in Los Angeles, another in development at its North American headquarters in Atlanta, and a British center set up at the Silverstone circuit. Now the latest reports indicate that Porsche is planning yet another driving center at Le Mans.
The new facility is earmarked to be built at the Circuit de la Sarthe right by the start/finish line, incorporating the Porsche Curves that bridge the Arnage corner and the Ford Chicanes on the West side of the famous track.
Porsche is reportedly still seeking approval from the Automobile Club de l'Ouest that manages the circuit, and once given the green light, would still take some time to complete. But the idea of driving a 911 flat out on the legendary track is likely to make more than a few mouths water, particularly as the German automaker prepares its full-on assault of the famous endurance race next year.

50th Anniversary Porsche 911 vs. Jaguar F-Type Coupe is a battle of beauty, brawn

Fri, 13 Jun 2014

There can't really be a loser between the Jaguar F-Type Coupe R and the Porsche 911 50th Anniversary Edition. One might be better than the other, but if you're behind the wheel of either of them, you can't complain. In a new video, Motor Trend takes on the difficult task of determining which one of these European powerhouses is the best, not just in terms of raw performance, but also how they actually feel to drive.
The Porsche 911 is one of the perennial favorites of the motoring world. It just doesn't go away and always seems capable of challenging the top vehicles in its class. In this video, Motor Trend takes a look at the 50th Anniversary Edition model that celebrates that heritage while boosting power somewhat over the standard version.
The F-Type Coupe is an incredibly masculine car, MT describing it as "a British Corvette." The coupe's exterior lines are tautly stretched over its athletic body, and it's supercharged 5.0-liter V8 sounds like a demon's growl. Jaguar seems to have things right with its latest sports car.

Porsche prioritizes 200,000-unit sales target over exclusivity [w/poll]

Thu, 21 Aug 2014

Would a Porsche still be a Porsche if it weren't as exclusive? That's the question which industry pundits are asking - and customers may soon as well - as the German automaker emerges from the fringe in pursuit of larger volumes.
A dozen years ago Porsche was barely selling over 50,000 units per annum. In a sales surge that has gathered pace as fast as a 911 Turbo, however, it was already hovering around the 100,000-unit mark a few years later. Last year it sold over 160,000, and has targeted 200,000 units by 2018. But it may not even take that long.
Automotive News reports that Porsche has advanced its targets to reach for 200,000 units by the end of this year or the next. The bump in sales would be driven particularly by the introduction of the new Macan, of which it aims to sell 50,000 units annually, starting next year. The Cayenne currently stands far and away as its most successful model. The 911 and Panamera have swapped second place a few times over the past five years, followed by the Boxster and Cayman.
