1966 Porsche 912 Coupe Barn Find With Dust Still On It!! Blue/black 3 Guage~ on 2040-cars

Year:1966 Mileage:119492
Location:

Marietta, Georgia, United States

Marietta, Georgia, United States

Up for auction is a 1966 Porsche 912 3 guage coupe which we recently acquired from the neighbor of a good customer of ours.  A true barn find which has been stored in a covered barn in south Georgia for the last several years after the previous owner began to repair the rust damage to the front suspension pan but never finished it.  We have not even knocked the dust off it yet!

The Vin number is 454916, which matches on the door tag, front metal tag and stamping on the chassis. The title for the car has been lost and will be sold with a bill of sale only.

The motor that is included does not appear to be original to the car as the engine # is 4093557. It does turn over by hand freely but does have a tight spot, as such should be completely rebuilt before trying to run it.  The transmission appears to be original to the car as it is date coded 2/66.

The original paint code on the car is 6607 which is Sand Beige, but it is currently painted a blue/silver color.  Overall the paint appears to be in very good shape and once the dust is knocked off should look great.  The interior is black with aluminum trim on the dash.  It has a Momo steering wheel installed as well as some additional guages under the dash but appears to be stock otherwise, everything is in very good shape and will clean up nicely!  Black headliner is in good shape.  Car has a tape deck and custom speaker box behind/above the rear seats.

The wheels are not original to the car but are period correct Fuchs which came on the 911's

The car has had some previous repairs on the underside floor pans, which all appear to be in good shape.  The car comes with parts to complete the rust repair on the front suspension pan as pictured, once that is taken care of the rest of the car is extremely solid!  There is no rust or bubbling of the paint around the windows which is very common on these cars!

We encourage you to come and take a look at the car in person, it is located in Marietta, GA.  If you are not able to come see it feel free to send us a message with any questions you have.  The car is being sold as-is where-is meaning that the car is being offered with NO warranty of any kind and the buyer is responsible for all shipping costs.  A $500 deposit will be due via Paypal with 24 hours of the auction ending, full balance should be paid by cash, cashiers check or wire transfer prior the car being picked up.

Porsche celebrates Le Mans return with Martini edition 911

Tue, 10 Jun 2014

If we've said it once, we've said it a hundred times - but we'll gladly say it again: there are few racing liveries as iconic as Martini. And while those stripes have adorned countless Lancia and Ford rally cars, grand prix racers (like the latest Williams) and even speedboats, they remain inexorably tied to Porsche. Fortunately that point is not lost on Porsche itself, which has lately put them on its own 918 Spyder, race-spec 911 and all manner of merchandise. And this is the latest.
To celebrate its return to Le Mans this year, Porsche Exclusive is offering this special Martini Racing Edition. It's based on the 911 Carrera S, which means the more potent 3.8-liter flat six with 400 horsepower, but upgrades, as you might have guessed, with a whole mess of Martini Racing stripes and logos, along with the Aerokit Cup front and rear spoilers. The badges and stripes abound inside as well, where you'll also find such optional extras as the Porsche Communication Management system, Bose audio and black leather electric sport seats.
Porsche is offering the 911 Carrera S Martini Racing Edition in either white or black, but unfortunately not in our market - just in Europe, China and Latin America. Those who miss out will (in certain markets anyway) be able to order the decal set separately though. Feel free to read more in the press release below.

Another cool projection vid, this time with a Porsche 911

Fri, 28 Dec 2012

Porsche has become the latest automaker to take advantage of clever projection technology. The automaker worked up a quick presentation for the 2013 911 Carrera 4S to show off a bit of "motionless driving." The display tracks the sports car from production to back-road caning and city-center cruising, displaying a variety of exterior color choices and wheel options without resorting to a two-dimensional video.
This isn't the first time we've seen an automaker use its new product as a projection screen. Subaru, Hyundai, Lamborghini and others have all done the same, and the trick never fails to be visually interesting.
As you may recall, we got to play with the 2013 911 Carrera 4S back in November and found the machine to be a better daily driver than its rear-wheel drive counterpart. You can check out the projection video below.

This is why we love the Porsche 911 reimagined by Singer

Tue, 11 Nov 2014

In the world of restomods, Singer Vehicle Designs is inarguably one of our absolute favorites. The company, founded by rocker Rob Dickinson, has made its name as an obsessive constructor of vintage, built-to-order Porsche 911s with modern internals and beautiful accouterments.
Xcar has put together a lengthy interview with Dickinson, covering the source of his fascination with the 911 and his passion for automotive design, before falling into his rock-and-roll days with his band Catherine Wheel. He also covers how he got into the world of modifying Porsches, rather than just restoring them. There's much, much more in the video, though, and we promise, you won't want to miss it.
Take a look.
