77/98 Porsche Carrera 911 Convertible on 2040-cars

Year:1977 Mileage:75000
Location:

South Lake Tahoe, California, United States

South Lake Tahoe, California, United States

This is a rare version of the 1998 Porsche Carrera 911/993. Completely restored by wealthy doctor who owned the '77 for 35 years and wanted to update it a newer look. It is rebodied to a 1998 with all factory parts(not aftermarket). He had all the interior changed out to 1998 including dash, instruments, door panels, seats, the newer style rear jump seats with the 3 point seat belts instead of the old lap belts, a fully power top from 1998, wheels, the newer powerful 3.6 engine. Only the transmission and chassis are 1977. It has a clean title that has it listed as a 1977 so it is very cheap to insure and register.
It is a 5 speed and weighs only 2500 lbs as opposed to the standard '98 which weighs 3400 lbs making it very quick and it pulls 278 horsepower.
It does not have a heater, air conditioner, or smog equipment. We now have only our California home and so can not keep the car. It will not pass smog so you need to register it in a place that doesn't have smog laws or you need connections. It is a blast to drive and is a head turner. Please call if you'd like to see it- We are located on the South Shore of Lake Tahoe, Ca. and I keep the car in my hangar in Minden, Nv.   Five three-zero 318 295zero. Thanks for looking and I'm happy to answer any questions.

On May-05-14 at 07:19:26 PDT, seller added the following information:

Mileage stated incorrectly, sorry, just over 79k. Restoration done at 58k, we purchased car with 68k. In the 5 years we've had the car we've put only 11k miles on it due to our much too short driving season. The car has been garaged or hangared. Only things done to car since we received it is oil changes, new alternator, new top of the line Alpine stereo and speaker system with amp(sounds amazing), and a new battery this week.(prior battery was a 2005, it was time).

Car runs great and is a blast to drive. It will be sold as is with no warranty implied or otherwise. We had it shipped in from Salt Lake City, Utah to Reno, Nv and it cost us $400. Kind of give you an idea of what it might cost to get it to you.

Interest in the car has been fantastic, thank you, Any questions at all, please let me know.

Techart modified Porsche 911 Turbo S packs 620 hp, 0-62 in 2.8 seconds

Wed, 05 Mar 2014

Considering how many absolutely ridiculous tuner cars are featured in Geneva (stay tuned to see plenty, as our coverage continues), it's often refreshing to see some of the more modestly modified cars, like this new Porsche 911 Turbo S from the folks at Techart. Visually, there's a subtle body kit, new wheels, a new spoiler, and some lame decals on the front end, but it basically ends there. That's because Techart's mission is really about higher performance. Increased dynamism, as the Germans say.
An ordinary 911 Turbo S produces 560 horsepower and 516 pound-feet of torque. But the Techart kit adds 60 hp and 96 lb-ft to those already high numbers, for a coupe that dishes out a total of 620 hp and 612 lb-ft. Techart says that, in Sport Plus mode, its modified 911 Turbo S will accelerate to 62 miles per hour in just 2.8 seconds, and the top speed has been increased to 204 miles per hour. Crazy stuff.
To further drive its performance upgrades home, Techart has fitted this 911 Turbo S with a sport exhaust system with valve control, for a more robust exit interview, at the push of a button. We imagine it sounds awesome. Have a look at the Techart Turbo S in the gallery, above.

2014 Porsche Cayman S

Tue, 19 Feb 2013

A Blue-Blooded Valentine
I need you to understand what it's like to drive this car. I'm not talking about your ability to comprehend the words on this page or process the figures that surround the 2014 Porsche Cayman S, but rather what it feels like to take control of a car conceived, designed, engineered and manufactured to set your prefrontal cortex alight with all the glee a Zippo typically reserves for pine needles marinated in jet fuel. From the instant you put your tail in the driver's seat, the Cayman sets about impregnating your veins with a full and varied spectrum of ludicrous emotion. It's not like taking the family pickup to market, I can tell you that much.
For 2014, the next-generation Cayman features many of the same styling tweaks first displayed on the coupe's drop-top cousin, the Boxster, though a spate of mechanical changes, more power, less weight and better efficiency join the party to further differentiate this model from its predecessor. And while additions like rev-matched downshifts and electronic power steering help push the Cayman into a new era, one fact remains unchanged: This is one of the best driving cars on the market. Period. Bear with me and I'll try to explain exactly why that is.

Porsche 918 Spyder configurator goes live

Fri, 13 Sep 2013

That didn't take long. The debut model of the new Porsche 918 Spyder is still thronged by onlookers at the Frankfurt Motor Show, while the German sports car maker is hard at work putting the first version of the supercar's configuration page online. Considering Porsche configurators are some of our favorite time-wasters of the genre, we expect car-guy productivity to drop by a few percentage points over the rest of the day.
So, the 918 dream-maker doesn't list and prices as yet, and that's too bad. But considering the car is due to start off at $845,000 in the US, chances are good that unless you're reading this from the shallow end of your Uncle Scrooge-spec money pool, the cost of any part of the 918 is academic to you anyway.
To start, Porsche is offering twelve paint colors, three wheel choices and seven two-tone interior treatments. Standard lightweight bucket seats and a set of chairs with "firmer padding" are on offer, too. The options list is mostly populated with interior bits, though many - an anti-reflection interior, fire extinguisher, six-point seatbelts - are racing-oriented or functional. Note that Porsche is also kind enough to offer just one cupholder as an optional extra; the unit is made of aluminum and is detachable so that you won't have to carry the extra weight during racing. Also, Porsche probably puts you on some kind of naughty 'list' if you order one...
