Very rare Amethyst Metallic with Espresso interior Save over $90,000 off new. The car is more than $30,000 under current book value. The car is on a rebuilt title after it was arbitrated as an insurance write off. The previous owner had a minor wreck (photos are included) and refused the car, forcing the insurance company to buy it (usually this happens with high end cars when owners say their cars resale value was diminished by being in a wreck). It was light front end damage with no airbags deployed. It was repaired right and I was told repairs were less than $10,000. AutoCheck lists this as having "rear end damage" with airbags deployed. As you can see by the pics taken after the accident (confirmed by the police report), their report is wrong. It was a minor front end hit. With 5k miles driven since repairs, this car just had it’s 30k mile service at the Porsche dealership and passed the typical multi-point inspection with flying colors. The car is perfect. The problem panels were replaced and it was professionally done. There's no sign it was ever anything but perfect. No dings, no scratches, runs and drives straight, electronics all in order - it's like it just rolled off out of the factory. Very rare color - Amethyst Metallic almost looks like a candied paint option. The car looks black most of the time, and a dark blackberry hue when the light hits it right. It’s a very classy color gets a lot of compliments. The car is very heavily optioned. There’s loads more options than this on the car - but here’s the basics. Le Mans-winning Porsche 935 K3 'seized' by DEA agents
Thu, 16 Jan 2014Porsche has won Le Mans more than any other marque, but only one of those overall race winners was actually based on a 911. That was the 1979 Porsche 935 K3, chassis number 009 00015 that was entered by brothers Don and Bill Whittington. It went on to win at the Nürburgring and Watkins Glen, and scored podium finishes at Sebring and Brands Hatch as well. In short, it's a historically significant and hugely valuable piece of motorsport history. And it was just seized by the DEA. Sorta.
After the Whittington brothers ran afoul of a handful of lawsuits and were implicated in smuggling narcotics, the car changed hands a few times before ending up in the noted collection of one Bruce Meyers. He had it at Laguna Seca earlier this month when a black Suburban, Dodge Charger and transporter truck pulled up with government plates, asked to speak with Meyer, presented him with a court order, loaded the car onto the truck and drove off.
Though familiar with the legal disputes surrounding the ownership of the car and the misdeeds of its famous original owners, Meyer was left understandably distraught over the events that had just unfolded in front of him to separate him from his pride and joy. (Or one of them, anyway; Bruce has got an eminently desirable collection of classic cars.) But here's the kicker: those DEA agents weren't actual DEA agents. Fortunately they weren't thieves, either. The actual story could have been the plot right out of Ocean's 14 if they ever made one and it focused on classic cars. (Is anyone in Hollywood listening?)
Stock Miata beats bunch of high-powered cars in wet 1/4-mile drag race
Thu, 06 Jun 2013When is a stock, 167-horsepower Mazda MX-5 Miata quicker than a Chevrolet Corvette, Ford Mustang, Lamborghini Gallardo, Lotus Elise and a Porsche 911? When it's raining. Sort of.
Mazda Canada arranged a unique drag race to show off the fact that the Miata's optional power retractable folding hardtop can go from top-down to top-up in just 12 seconds flat. In this video, all six cars line up for a drag race, and it starts to rain (well, sort of - but you'll have to watch the video all the way to the end to see what we mean). The green flag is waved, and the timer starts as soon as the convertibles begin to put their tops up. But because the Miata's roof mechanism gets the car's roof back up a full 5.1 seconds quicker than the second-place car, the Mazda gets a serious advantage off the line for the actual drag race.

Father-son team grows close by building tuned Porsche
Mon, 21 Jul 2014We've seen several heartwarming videos of kids bonding over cars with their parents, whether racing together or giving them as gifts. The story of Leh Keen and his father McGrath, though, is somewhat different. Not many dads are looking for a vehicle quite this mental.
As Leh tells it, his dad saw a video online of one of the wild Porsches from Japanese tuner Rauh-Welt Begriff and decided that he needed one of the creations in his own garage. Since Leh knows something about cars himself as a driver for Alex Job Racing in the United SportsCar Championship, McGrath put his son in charge of managing the build from the company.
When the car made it to the US for completion from Rauh's famed builder Nakai, father and son bonded over the red, widebody 993-platform 911. The final product is certainly eye-catching.
