My vehicle is being re-listed because of a non-paying bidder.  PLEASE NO OVERSEAS BIDDERS OR BIDDERS WITH A SCORE OF LESS THAN '5'. Up for auction is my exquisite 1980 Porsche 911SC sunroof coupe.  It is being offered with NO RESERVE! It is finished in its original and rare color of Casablanca Beige Metallic. This is the original color but the vehicle has had paintwork in the past to eliminate dings and scratches. Please read my entire listing and look at all photographs.  This is an extremely nice 'driver quality' vehicle that should provide you with many hours of pleasure (as it has me). Classic Porsche and Excellence Magazines both report that the 911SC is on the fast track to being the next big collectible in Porsche automobiles.  The buy-in is low on these vehicles and the potential investment opportunity is high!  But whether you're looking at it as an investment, or just enjoy the way this car makes you feel, this one's a winner.  From the job site, to the drive-through, this Porsche never fails to elicit an enthusiastic 'thumbs up' from the envious masses.  Originally purchased in Texas, it has enjoyed a pampered life by all of it's owners.  I purchased it in 2012 from what was purported to be its third owner. I will provide you with contact information for both the third and the second owner (before them, the trail got cold). The original owner's manual, warranty booklet, keys and one remote as well as its original tool kit, spare tire, jack, etc... are included. The tire inflation kit is missing.  Also comes with a pile of receipts from myself and previous owner.  A Bentley Publishers Service Manual will be included as well as an extensive album of photos, Porsche Club of America Panorama Magazines and the Porsche Certificate of Authenticity. Runs and drives well. Air Conditioning has been removed (no, I don't have it). I added Whale Tail and Carrera stripes. Also comes with original engine cover in original color if you want a different look, just bolt it on and go! Miles shown are NOT ACTUAL. Odometer is inoperative.  Engine runs well, doesn't smoke has some small oil leaks (common). Runs, drives, stops as it should, trans 'pops out' of first gear (I just leave in second). Power windows work intermittently. Window frames are body color, should be black. Body is in extremely nice condition with just a few stone chips (largest is pictured located on frunk). Interior is near new condition, however there is damage to the headliner behind the driver's seat (you won't notice while you are driving, and you have to lie down on your back to see it, but who knows? Maybe you'll get lucky). If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me (Matt) at any time.  I check email once a day, but will be available by telephone at eight 1 zero-6 two 5- six two 76.  Bid with confidence. You won't be disappointed. If you have a feedback score of four or less, please contact me before bidding. If you are from out of the country, sorry, this one is for U.S. bidders only. I am more than happy to work with you arranging payment, but will require a Paypal deposit of $1000 within 48 hours of close of auction and will require funds in my hand within seven days unless we have come up with another REAL arrangement. US buyers only please. Please have funds in hand when you bid. I will accept cash or other forms of verifiable monies but will not release the car until all funds have cleared my account.  Not looking for returnable bottles, IOU's or offers to become the Prince of a foreign land. Bidders from out of the United States or with a feedback of less than '5' need to contact me before bidding or they may be eliminated from the auction. This is a great car and will make some lucky owner very happy. Thank you and good luck!

Porsche would have entered F1 if Audi had blocked its Le Mans program

Thu, 13 Mar 2014

Go back a few years and you may have heard rumors of Porsche heading into Formula One. That never came to pass - or at least, it hasn't yet - but that doesn't mean that it wasn't close to happening. That's how committed to returning to top-level motorsport competition Porsche has become recently.
Autosport reports that just as Porsche was merging fully into the Volkswagen Group, Zuffenhausen was weighing its options for a factory racing program. Le Mans was its favorite, which makes sense, as it remains far and away the most successful constructor in the history of the famous endurance race. But the strategists at Porsche were worried that its new corporate overlords at Volkswagen wouldn't support two LMP1 programs and would favor Audi, which has positively dominated the modern era of endurance racing, coming second only to Porsche in the number of Le Mans victories it has scored to date.
Porsche's Plan B was reportedly to head into Formula One, although it isn't clear if the German automaker was intent on starting its own team, buying an existing one or merely providing engines to other teams. Porsche fielded its own cars in F1 in the late 1950s and early 60s, and returned as an engine supplier with TAG to power McLaren in the 1980s, powering Niki Lauda and Alain Prost to the World Championship in 1984 and 1985.

Porsche Macan spied, all lit up and dodging flurries

Thu, 17 Jan 2013

We've seen the upcoming Porsche Macan testing on surface roads and even on the Nürburgring, but here we have our first spy shots showing a disguised prototype doing some winter testing in snowy conditions. Still obscured by plenty of camouflage attempting to mimic its larger Cayenne sibling, we still can't get a clear look at what the Macan's face and rump are going to look like, although it does appear that some details for the front lighting are starting to emerge.
Below the headlights, those are obviously decals trying to look like turn signal lenses, but it appears that there is still some sort of lighting being hidden judging by the small circles cut into the camo. Lower in the fascia, we can also see there are LED running lights not revealed on past prototypes. The entire rear end of this Macan prototype still appears to be tacked-on camo, but the side view appears to be in production form save for the poorly disguised rear quarter windows.
As we've seen in the past, Porsche engineers are still testing the Macan alongside the Audi Q5 with which it shares its platform. There has been no word as to when we could expect to see the Macan in production or concept form, but we'd have to guess that this compact crossover is getting ready to shed its camo very soon.

Updated J.D. Power APEAL study shines on VW Group, Chevy

Wed, 24 Jul 2013

J.D. Power has just revealed the results of its 2013 APEAL Study, which looks at which brands have the most appealing cars based on sales figures, dealer inventory, brand loyalty, transaction and trade-in prices. The study was revamped for 2013, and places a larger focus on the new tech and infotainment options available to customers. All told, study participants gauged their vehicles on 77 different attributes, delivering a score out of a 1,000 points.
The Volkswagen Group had the greatest success of any corporation, topping the APEAL rankings with the Audi Allroad, Porsche Boxster, Porsche Cayenne, VW GTI and Passat. Chevrolet had the highest number of awards for a single brand, though, with the Avalanche, Sonic and Volt all taking home a prize.
The best brand overall was Porsche, which scored 884 out of a possible 1,000 points. The top Japanese brand was Lexus with a score of 847, while the top American brand was Cadillac, at 841. The best mainstream brand was Ram, which received a very respectable 817. The industry average for this year's study was 795, with 16 brands, all of which were mainstream, falling below the average.
