You are bidding on a hard to find non-running 1978 Porsche 911SC Targa. This is an excellent project car for the Porsche lover. The previous owner bought this car used in 1978 from Novak Porsche Audi in Omaha, Nebraska. At the time the car only had 2,038 miles. I do have the purchase agreement and odometer mileage statement from that purchase. I also have many maintenance records that came with the car. We have looked the car over and it seems complete. The body is in great condition for a 35 year old car that has sat for a long period of time. There is no rust and no damage to the body and the floors are very solid. The paint looks to be original except for an area on the left rear quarter that looks to be painted and some clear coming off. It is hard to tell that area has been painted though. The car would look great with just a buff and wax but it depends on how far of a restore job a person wants to do with it. The top is in great condition and can be reused but the inside liner of it needs redone. The glass is in great condition with cracks or chips. The wheels are in excellent condition. There is no damage what so ever and the center caps are just as clean. I don't think they need any reconditioning but they will need new tires on them because these are old. Mechanically the car is not running and we have not tried to get it running. The car has sat for many years so I'm sure the drivetrain needs to be rebuilt. It is a 3.0L 6-Cyl with a 5-spd manual transmission. A/C compressor is there but I do not know the condition as the car does not run. The interior is actually in decent condition. The dash has a small crack near the passenger defrost vent and the glove box needs repaired. The threads on the steering wheel cover are coming apart. The car panels and rear seats are in great shape and could probably just be cleaned up. The front seats are leather with plaid cloth inserts that need redone. The carpet should be replaced. The trunk has the original space saver spare. I do have a clean and clear title.

Porsche Macan Turbo vs Cayman GTS in track battle

Fri, 19 Sep 2014

"Well this is stupid." On the surface, that was our reaction to this video, as well. Why would you compare the hottest Porsche Cayman with a crossover of any kind, even if it is the 400-horsepower Macan Turbo?
We're guessing because it'd be bloody good fun, as evidenced Auto Express's latest track battle. To be fair, there is some interesting stuff here. The two do have a similar starting price, separated by less than $3,000 here in the US market. And, factoring in the Macan's hefty horsepower and torque advantages - 60 horsepower and 126 pound-feet - does make for a slightly interesting comparison.
We won't spoil the verdict, so check out the full video from Auto Express, and then let us know what you think in Comments.

Porsche undecided on new 911 GT2 [w/poll]

Thu, 23 Jan 2014

Fans of hardcore 911s had it pretty good with the last 997 generation. There was the GT3, GT3 RS, GT3 RS 4.0, GT2 and GT2 RS (pictured above). Each one was faster, more powerful and more expensive than the one below it, but what they all shared was what Porsche purists love most: rear engine, rear drive, a manual transmission and little else.
So far with the new 991, Porsche has only released a GT3 version. Sure, there have been other models, but they're all decidedly more luxurious and less performance-focused. And as impressive a machine as the new GT3 is, it has run the risk of alienating some of its most ardent fanatics with technological interference in the form of a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission and four-wheel steering. So what those purists have really been looking forward to is a more hardcore GT3 RS or new GT2. But those may not be coming so quickly.
Speaking with 911 project chief August Achleitner, Car and Driver reports that a new GT2 is anything but a foregone conclusion. The reasons may be partially political, but could be technical in nature as well: with 560 horsepower driving all four wheels, the new 911 Turbo S runs the 0-60 in less than three seconds. Give it more power but less traction, as Porsche has done with past GT2s, and you may not end up seeing an actual improvement in performance. A GT2 that's slower than the Turbo S would be difficult to explain.

Meet the main man behind the 2014 Porsche 911 GT3

Fri, 30 Aug 2013

We have yet to catch our breath from our first drive of the 2014 Porsche 911 GT3, but if you're still not sold on the fact that this track-ready 911 is only offered with a PDK transmission, then you should take it up with Andreas Preuninger. Preuninger is the guy who led the team responsible for the latest GT3. Porsche has released a video giving a little backstory of what went into the development of the car, which had as its goal the creation of a pure, rewarding 911 driving experience.
The video captures the sights and sounds of the GT3 perfectly. Perhaps the best part is listening to Preuninger describe one of the defining moments that resulted in replacing the GT3's manual gearbox with the PDK. We don't want to ruin the video for you, so scroll down to check it out for yourself.
