** 1960 DEVIN SPYDER SPORTS CAR **
THIS RARE ALTERNATIVE TO A PORSCHE 550 AND MORE AFFORDABLE DEVIN SPYDER SPORTS CAR / CLUB RACER WAS DROPPED OFF TO
US BY ITS CURRENT OWNER WHO IS ROTATING HIS COLLECTION… NOT YET HAVING A CHANCE TO FIND OUT THE EXACT HISTORY
OF THIS PERTICULAR CAR – THIS IS WHAT I KNOW:ABOUT OUR CAR:
THE PAINT APPEARS TO BE ORIGINAL , ALTHOUGH DOES SHOW EXTENSIVE AGE & CRACKING OF THE PAINT… THE OVERALL BODY
AND PANELS ARE VERY NICE AND FREE OF DAMAGE. DOORS LINE UP NICE , OPEN AND CLOSE VERY PRECISE. LOCKABLE FRONT
& REAR BONNET ALSO HAVE NICE GAPS, BUT HAVE NO SUPPORT TO KEEP OPEN. PERIOD CORRECT WHEELS & TIRES ARE VERY NICE
WITH PLENTY OF TREADWEAR. UNDERCARRIAGE APPEARS TO BE VERY SOLID. ENGINE BAY ALSO VERY SOLID.
APPEARS TO VW POWERED- DO NOT KNOW WHAT SIZE THE MOTOR IS, WHAT’S BEEN DONE TO THE MOTOR OR HOW MANY MILES ON THE
MOTOR ? DO NOT KNOW WHAT TRANSMISSION IS ( IT IS MANUAL- REVERSE IS LOCATED DOWN & TO THE LEFT ) OR WHAT ALXES
ARE ? TRANSMISSION / CLUTCH ENGAGMENT IS NICE & SMOOTH. EMERGENCY BRAKE DOES ENGAGE. BRAKE PEDAL DOES FEEL
LIGHT.
INTERIOR IS AS BASIC AS YOU CAN GET- NOT SURE IF SPEEDOMETER WORKS? BUCKETS SEATS ARE IN GOOD SHAPE. DOES NOT
HAVE INNER DOOR PANELS. DO NOT KNOW IF LIGHTS OR WIPERS WORK ? FRONT BONNET DOES HAVE WHAT APPEARS TO
COMPLETE SOFT TOP , BATTERY AND FUEL FILLER CAP.
I WOULD RECOMMEND THE CAR TO BE GONE OVER / SAFETY INSPECTED BEFORE JUMPING IN AND DRIVING ON PUBLIC ROADS. CAR
DOES HAVE VIN PLATE ON DRIVERS DOORS SILL AND CLEAN NJ TITLE WITH DOCUMENTED 66,000 ORIGINAL MILES.

Porsche Cayman GT4 speeds back into view

Tue, 18 Nov 2014

We're all familiar with the succession of numbers that follow the letters GT on a hard-core Porsche 911: the GT1 that was Stuttgart's Le Mans contender in the late 90s, the GT2 that packs turbochargers but without the Turbo's all-wheel drive and excess weight, and the naturally aspirated GT3 that's the enthusiast's choice. But a GT4? That's something new, and exactly what Porsche has in store.
Spied testing in Germany once again is the upcoming GT4 version of the Porsche Cayman, set to supersede the existing GTS and take the place of the previous Cayman R at the top of Porsche's junior sports car range. This latest batch of spy shots doesn't show us much more than the last crop, but gives us a much clearer view at what promises to be the most hardcore Cayman to date.
As you can see, the Cayman GT4 packs a much more aggressive aero kit and rolling stock than any version we've seen to date. It's got a lip spoiler, big air dam and GT3-style vent in front of the hood, deep air scoops along the flanks, a set of spindly alloys packing oversized brakes, a diffuser with twin central exhaust tips around back and a rear wing that's likely to be replaced with a sleeker unit before the GT4 reaches production.

Playboy reveals its 2013 Cars of the Year

Thu, 20 Dec 2012

Vaunted men's magazine Playboy knows that its readers are nearly as interested in cars as they are in the female anatomy... sorry, we thought we could write that with a straight face. Anyway, the buff-book does occasionally fill some of its spreads with sexy metal, to accent all the rest of the sexiness.
To wit, the magazine has unveiled its feature on the 2013 Cars of the Year. Without giving us much in the way of criteria for the awards, nor a clear framing of the categories ("Responsible Ride" is a particularly challenging concept, especially when you consider that the Mazdaspeed3 was the winner), Playboy has nevertheless highlighted what we assume to be it's favorite 12 or 13 (depending on how you count) cars from the 2013 model year.
Headlining the class is the Porsche 911, which Playboy writers single out for having "remarkable electronic voodoo." BMW M5 is named "Slickest Sports Sedan" though the Cadillac ATS then follows on because "we couldn't resist giving the new Caddy a shout-out." The rest of the picks are pretty conventional (save, perhaps, the Honda Fit EV as "Ace Electric"), even if the categories and methodology are fairly wonky. Cruise through or gallery for a taste or check out the full list, here. The site is safe for work, and you can legitimately (this time) say that you were reading it for the articles.

Jay Leno welcomes finely rebuilt Porsche 356 into his garage

Wed, 15 Jan 2014

Not a month after the Porsche 911 Reimagined by Singer visited Jay Leno's garage, another artfully restored Porsche has rolled in. This time it's a 1957 Porsche 356A Outlaw, the "outlaw" moniker referring to Porsches that have been restored outside the bounds of period-correct orthodoxy.
This 356A was literally done from the ground up by Michigander Chuck Olenyk, the floor of the car having fallen apart so badly that he couldn't remove the roof at first since it was holding the vehicle together. Olenyk said that of the 2000 hours over seven years that he spent restoring the car, 500 were spent just on repairing the rust. That's undoubtedly some of the reason why when he tried to sell the unrestored car as a roller in the nineties for $1,000, no one would take it off his hands.
Olenyk fitted a mildly tuned engine from a Porsche 912, the transmission from a 356B, the brakes from a 356C, Fuchs mags and a modified replicar Speedster roof from Intermecchnica. It lacks nothing even with just 115 horsepower, and it adds to that with charm and aural appeal. You can see and hear the full story in the video below.
