I
have owned this 1961 356 Porsche Karmann Hardtop for almost 30 years. It was
what you would call a barn find. I have no history on the car before I got it. The
car was rust free and all the doors, trunk lid and engine compartment lid were original
to the car. There was no evidence the car had ever been in an accident. I had a
professional restoration done to it a couple years after I got it. A new Autos
International interior was installed. The engine, a 1600 Super was rebuilt and
detailed. I am not sure if the engine is
original to the car. The paint and
interior colors were changed. I wanted a red Porsche with a tan interior. The
car was a show winner in many local and regional events. For the last 20 years
the car has been stored away. I have taken it out about twice a year just to
keep it exercised. During the last two weeks two experts (one was a dealer looking for a car he could resale) looked at the car and pointed out some of its flaws. 1. The windshield is separating on the upper left corner. 2. The metal trim on the front and rear windows was originally chromed when the car was restored. The chrome is flaking off. 3. There are two chips in the paint that I touched up but they need a better job. 4. The radio speakers are not correct. 5. The wiper blades need replacing. 6. There is a small scuff mark on the left bumper guard. 7. The fog lights are not original. I am sure another expert could add to this list. The experts did say the interior was like almost new. The Paint and chrome looked very good. All the gaps were good. All the rubber is good. When I drove the car 15 miles from the storage to my home I found the engine still runs very strong. The transmission works very nicely. The brakes will need some work. They do not stop the car the way I expected. I have lowered my reserve price to reflect some of the needed repairs. I have some spare parts including the original steering wheel that will go with the car. I am 72 years old and do not have the interest or energy to take care of it any longer. I moved the car from the Midwest to Fairhope Alabama in 2010. The car is not perfect but 99% of it is excellent. The car is available for inspection with advance notice. I will ship worldwide. Another cool projection vid, this time with a Porsche 911
Fri, 28 Dec 2012Porsche has become the latest automaker to take advantage of clever projection technology. The automaker worked up a quick presentation for the 2013 911 Carrera 4S to show off a bit of "motionless driving." The display tracks the sports car from production to back-road caning and city-center cruising, displaying a variety of exterior color choices and wheel options without resorting to a two-dimensional video.
This isn't the first time we've seen an automaker use its new product as a projection screen. Subaru, Hyundai, Lamborghini and others have all done the same, and the trick never fails to be visually interesting.
As you may recall, we got to play with the 2013 911 Carrera 4S back in November and found the machine to be a better daily driver than its rear-wheel drive counterpart. You can check out the projection video below.
eBay Find of the Day: Your choice of new, unregistered mid-2000s supercars

Something like an unregistered 2005 Porsche Carrera GT. The car has never been titled and has just 83 miles on the odometer. With one owner since new, the Carrera GT is likely to be as nice an example as you're likely to find outside of a museum. Porsche only built 340 of these machines back in 2005, and with a 610 horsepower V10 kicking at your spine, you can lap Santa's sleigh next year. Currently, the Carrera GT has a buy it now price of $457,325 with around six days left on the auction.
Not flashy enough for your tastes? Stroll on down to West Hollywood and you'll find a similarly untitled 2004 Ferrari Enzo up for grabs with a sticker of $1.8 million. Technically a Euro-spec car, the Enzo isn't legal to operate on US roads, but could be modified to satisfy Uncle Sam with a little effort. The seller calls this car the "last brand-new Enzo in existence" and with 175 miles on the clock, that may be a true statement. Porsche's latest Driver's Selection keeps enthusiasts happy at home
Wed, 25 Sep 2013Porsche fans - and there are certainly plenty of them out there, even in here on the Autoblog editorial staff - can be pretty emphatic about their enthusiasm, insisting that the 911 is the very definition of the sportscar. And for some, merely admiring one from afar or even leaving theirs parked outside isn't enough. For just such enthusiats, Porsche Design has expanded its Driver's Selection with some tantalizing additions for the home and office.
First up is a desk chair made from the bucket seat in a 911 Carrera, which we have to admit we'd rather be sitting in right now over this blasted, rather unexciting ergonomic office chair. It's covered in black leather (the same you'd find inside an actual 911) embossed with the Porsche emblem and features electronic backrest adjustment.
There's also a wall shelf made from the carbon-fiber rear spoiler a 911 GT3 Cup racecar that can support up to 264 pounds of downforce in the form of books, trinkets and whathaveyou. And there's a limited-edition resin model of the 918 Spyder in 1:8 scale. The items haven't hit the Porsche shop just yet, so we don't have pricing information, but if they tickle your fancy, the online store has plenty more to offer.
