1987 Pontiac Firebird Trans Am, 5 Speed Manual Transmission, 5.0

The car runs great. The engine and transmission are solid. It shifts smoothly into all gears, including reverse. It has a new clutch, battery, and starter. This car is a ONE owner car. It has been garage kept for it's entire life. It is currently registered Non Op, with zero back registration fee's. I am selling the car for my uncle, who needs the space in his garage. It is extremely hard to find a 1987 Five speed 5.0 Trans Am "Stock", like this one. I believe there were fewer standard five speed Trans Am's made in 1987 than the GTA version. It's a rare find that will only go up in value over time. You can't say that about a lot of cars. It has never been in an accident and the title is 100% clean. The body is in good condition for being 27 years old. It has some minor quarter sized dings. The paint has some imperfections "small scratches" as is normal for a car of this age. The spoiler has some color issues which is common with all Trans Am's from this time period. The antenna motor has been disconnected due to a short and should be replaced. It needs new gas shocks to hold open the hood "this would only take a few minutes to replace and could be done yourself". The radio cassette player is stock and the cassette player works perfectly. The speakers sound great. The interior is in good overall condition and is clean. It has removable T-Tops and a storage case for them located in the trunk. The car is rust free undercarriage and all. Also, it's from a non smoking owner. Both front seats lean forward without pressing the leaver. The headlights both turn on but need to be lifted manually "they stay up when lifted". They both turn on and the motors both turn as well. May need proper lubrication "I will look into this further". All of the gauge's and dash lights work fine. Both of the power windows and automatic locks work. All of the glass is clean and crack/ding/scratch free. The tires have full tread 100%. It's always had regular maintenance performed on it, oil changes, etc.

This is a Cash only transaction. The new owner must be present to complete the deal, transfer the title, and complete a bill of sale. I would prefer it if the new owner drove the car off of my property personally, after completing the transaction. However, if you want to arrange for a transportation company to pick it up, you the new owner must be here to see it off. Thanks and have a great day. Please don't contact me asking for other forms of payment. Cash only. The highest bidder wins. No reserve.

Wanted: 1967 Pontiac GTO for a special Father's Day

Thu, 07 Jun 2012

Jim Sharp of Elkhorn, Wisconsin needs a red 1967 Pontiac GTO to make his dad's Father's Day, possibly his last one, something extra special.
Back in the '60s, Jim's dad, Ken, drove a cherry red 1967 GTO to California for a job. He met a girl, got married and decided his wife's 1965 Ford Mustang was more fuel efficient than the Goat and the GTO was sold. As the story almost always goes, Ken has had seller's regret ever since.
Jim always meant to find a 1967 GTO and, with his dad's help, restore it. But life got in the way, time slipped by and Ken was recently diagnosed with esophageal cancer and given about three months to live.

2013 Hurst Edition Trans Am

Mon, 13 May 2013

No, you didn't read our title wrong. This is a 2013 model year Trans Am, and yes, that is a Pontiac logo affixed to the front of the car. But don't bother dialing up your local General Motors dealership just yet. This is the new Hurst Edition Trans Am created by the Trans Am Depot located in Tallahassee, FL. Having spent a number of years restoring early Trans Am models, the crew at Trans Am Depot finally did what many Pontiac enthusiasts wish GM would have done - create a modern Trans Am using the fifth-generation Chevrolet Camaro.
As the former owner of a 1977 model, I've been wanting to check out Trans Am Depot ever since I first saw the company have American Choppers build a trio of motorcycles inspired by its Pontiac remakes. So I jumped at the chance to head to Florida's capital city to visit the shop and drive its latest creation, the new Hurst Edition Trans Am. As a collaboration with Hurst, this car made its debut at the 2012 SEMA Show and then popped up again on our radar with a cheesy yet perfectly fitting video back in March.

GM knew about fatal Chevy ignition problem decade before recall

Fri, 21 Feb 2014

Well, this is not good for General Motors. Following a report last week that GM was recalling 778,000 Chevrolet Cobalt and Pontiac G5 compacts over concerns that the ignition could switch out of the "run" position without warning, USA Today reports that the Detroit-based behemoth knew about the issue, which affected 2005 to 2007 Cobalts (the Cobalt shown above and in the gallery is from 2010) and 2007 Pontiac G5s, all the way back in 2004.
The information comes from a deposition in a civil lawsuit against GM, obtained by USA Today, which claims that a GM engineer experienced the issue while the then-new model was undergoing testing. The issue was "solved" when a technical service bulletin was issued in 2005, informing dealers to install a snap-on key cover on the cars of customers who complained about the issue. According to the Cobalt's program engineering manager, Gary Altman, the cover was an "improvement, it was not a fix to the issue."
The case where the depositions were made was from 2010, and involved Brooke Melton, a 29-year-old pediatric nurse in Georgia who was killed on her birthday. At the time, police claimed she was going too fast on a wet, rural road, although it later came out through the black box that her car's ignition had come out of the "run" position at least three seconds before the accident (the max amount of time a black box records before a wreck), disabling her airbags, power steering and anti-lock brakes. According to USA Today, police said Melton was "traveling too fast for the roadway conditions," although it's impossible to know if she'd have been in the wreck, which injured the occupants of another vehicle, had her 2005 Chevy not shut off. GM settled the Melton family's case, although the details remain confidential.
