1983 Pontiac Recaro Trans Am
Black/Gold Exterior
Camel Tan Interior

Up for auction is my 1983 Pontiac Recaro Trans Am. Pontiac made around 2,000 of these special edition, top of the line T/A's in 1983. This example is nearly ALL factory original. The only things not original are the battery, tires and sway bar end links. Even the hoses still have GM part numbers on them! They are becoming quite hard to find in this condition, as most have been abused/customized/turned into Knight Rider KITT cars/etc.

Norwood Built
Full PHS documentation
Original 2 Page Window Sticker and other paperwork included

Options:
Power Windows (both windows work quickly and smoothly)
Power Locks (no fading on the buttons)
Power Rear Hatch
Power Antenna
Power Mirrors
Rear Defrost
Rear Wiper
Cruise Control

T-tops (with bag)
Air Conditioning (All there, just needs recharged)
4 Wheel Disc Brakes

They threw practically every option available for 83 on this car!

DRIVETRAIN
-Original numbers matching 305 ci V8 with Crossfire Fuel Injection. 54,000 original miles. Starts up and runs strong every time.
-Original, numbers matching 700R4 transmission. Shifts nice and smooth.

-100% original factory exhaust, to include original catalytic converter and dual resonator muffler.

-Doesn't leak a drop of anything!

EXTERIOR
-Black with gold accent and camel tan interior.
-Paint is mostly original and does show signs of wear, especially on the hood. A weekend of buffing would improve it, but it is 30 year old paint. Some extremely minor dings here and there.
-Absolutely NO rust anywhere! Floor pans are nice and clean.
Very solid car, never driven in rain or snow.
-Newer Goodyear tires on factory original 15" rims with center caps. Tires have plenty of tread.
-Brakes have plenty of pad left on them.
-All suspension components original and in good working shape, except I did replace the sway bar end links recently due to the bushings degrading.
-Headlights (and all lights) work perfectly.
-Hood and trunk gas lift supports work great.
-Original weatherstripping still in great shape.

INTERIOR
-Original 1983 Recaro leather seats. Seats have some minor browning which can be cleaned off with some work. No holes in seats.
-Rear seats are mint EXCEPT for the very top of the back seat, which shows some sun fading (see pictures)
-Front seat belt receivers have NO cracks!
-All other plastic panels are like new with NO sun fading!
-Mint dashpad (no cracks)
-Original carpet does show some wear.
-Original Delco radio installed and working.
-Steering wheel in excellent condition.

Includes two owner's manuals, 1983 Pontiac dealer's brochure and merchandise guide. Also includes a complete set of factory correct replacement stripes should you decide to repaint it, as well as NOS Recaro T/A door handle inserts.

Besides a freshening of the paint, this car needs NOTHING. Runs perfect every time. Exhaust sounds great and has plenty of get up and go!

This car will only appreciate in value!

GM doing fine at retaining Pontiac owners

Fri, 28 Oct 2011

This isn't the first time we've reported positive news about General Motors retaining former Pontiac owners. Get a few more stories like this latest report from Edmund's Auto Observer, and it will mark an ongoing positive trend for GM. Edmunds.com crunched the numbers to see how well the General is hanging on to customers after shutting out the lights at Pontiac, and it found that nearly 40 percent of Pontiac owners stayed with a vehicle from a General Motors brand.
The numbers are a little lower than an earlier R.L. Polk & Company study, but Edmunds says General Motors is keeping more former Pontiac buyers than it has since 2007. Most are turning to vehicles from Chevrolet, especially during January and February of 2011, when GM incentivized Pontiac owners to stay under the umbrella. Those moves seem to have worked, and 28.1 percent of Pontiac owners trading up made the jump into a Bowtie.
Buyers that have gone elsewhere have largely stayed loyal to Domestic automakers, with Ford picking up the most conquests from Pontiac, with 9.4 percent switching. Toyota and Honda picked up 7.4 percent of the pool of former Pontiac drivers. The numbers are defying any predictions that Pontiac buyers would completely exit the General Motors fold, and have climbed up closer to parity with the retention figures of other GM brands from a 2009 low of only 16 percent retention.

Hurst Edition Trans Am proves the Screaming Chicken will rise from the ashes

Wed, 31 Oct 2012

It seems the Pontiac Trans Am steadfastly refuses to die. Ever since Chevrolet was granted a retrofied Camaro to compete with the Ford Mustang, Pontiac lovers have lamented the loss of this 1970s icon. And, looking at the Hurst Edition from Trans Am Depot, shown here at the 2012 SEMA Show, may explain what all the fuss is about.
It's not going to appeal to everyone's muscle-car tastes, but there's certainly room for a brash-and-bold black-and-gold Special Edition in many a Trans Am lover's garage. After all, if you want the keys to a custom pony car, you'll certainly get noticed in this one. If this scheme isn't your bag,, you can alternatively order your Hurst Edition in white and gold or silver and black. Oh, and don't forget a color-coordinated Screaming Chicken on the hood.
No matter which way you choose to go, your inner Burt Reynolds will appreciate the Eibach suspension kit, forged wheels with Pirelli PZero tires, functional shaker hood, fender air extractors, rear spoiler and, of course, a Hurst shifter inside. The interior is emblazoned with all manner of special touches, including a Hurst dash plate and T/A stitching on the Katzkin two-tone leather seats.

Howard Stern latest in Seinfeld's passenger seat for CiCGC

Thu, 06 Feb 2014

We'll be honest: the actual cars in Jerry Seinfeld's hit internet series, Comedians In Cars Getting Coffee, typically take a back seat to the celebrities in the front row. Seinfeld usually throws in a few lines about his classic wheels in the first minute or so, and then moves on to the important business of sprightly conversation and pithy one-liners. It's great.
This time around, with legendary motormouth Howard Stern riding shotgun, the 1969 Pontiac GTO Judge that might have been a co-star, gets forgotten about almost completely. Instead, Stern spends a tremendous amount of screen time extolling the virtues of his therapy sessions, attempts to dive into Seinfeld's prowess as a lover and generally makes a nuisance of himself. Pretty much to plan, then.
Scroll below to hear Howard accuse Jerry of acting like Jesus, just before declaring himself the greatest radio personality in the history of the business.
