HAS 63,000 ORGINAL MILES. THE PONTIAC 400ci V-8 MOTOR WAS REBUILT BY A PREVIOUS OWNER AND SOUNDS AMAZING. THEY USED
A SMALL CAM AND IS NOT TO RADICAL BUT HAS PLENTY OF POWER. THE CAM GIVES THE MOTOR PLENTY OF POWER AND THE VEHICLE
IS NOT TO RADICAL AND VERY DRIVABLE. THE MOTOR HOLDS GOOD OIL PRESSURE ALSO THE VEHICLE NEVER GET HOT. THE ORGINAL
4 SPEED GOES THROUGH ALL THE GEARS AS IT SHOULD AND VERY SMOOTH AND DOES NOT CHATTER WHEN YOU LET THE CLUTCH OUT.

FACTORY AM/FM RADIO IN THE DASH BUT IT IS NOT HOOKED UP. THE DOORS OPEN AND CLOSE PERFECT AND THERE IS NO SAGGING.
ALL OF THE BODY PANELS LINE UP AS THEY SHOULD. THE BODY OF THIS VEHICLE IS LAZOR STRIGHT AND STILL HAS ALL OF ITS
ORIGINAL SHEET METAL. ALL DINGS AND DENTS WERE FIXED AND THERE IS NO ROT ON THIS VEHICLE. THIS VEHICLE WAS THEN
PRIMED,BLOCK & SANDED FIVE TIMES TO ASSURE THE BODY OF THIS VEHICLE COMES OUT AMAZING AND STRAIGHT. THEN PPG PAINT

VEHICLE WAS OVER $9000.00 AND THEN THE NEW GM DECALS WERE APPLIED. THE HOOD BIRD DOES HAVE SOME DEFECTS.THE 4 SPEED
TRANSMISSION IS ORIGINAL AS IS THE 342 POSI REAR END. THE MOTOR IS AN ERA CORRECT 400ci V-8 THAT WAS REBUILT BUT IS
NON NUMBERS MATCHING AND IS VERY STRONG. THE A/C BLOWS COLD.THE LIGHTS,BLINKERS WORK AS THEY SHOULD. THE DISC BREAK
342 POSI. REAR END DOES NOT HAVE ANY HUM OR MAKE ANY WIERD NOISES. THIS VEHICLE DRIVE NICE DOWN THE ROAD AND DOES
NOT RATTLE LIKE MOST TRANS-AMS. THIS ONE IS VERY TIGHT EVEN OVER BUMPS. THE T-TOP FIT NICE AND DO NOT LEAK. ALL OF
THE ORIGINAL FLARES LINE UP GREAT.THE REAR BODY PANEL IS EXCELLENT AND UNTOUCHED. THE FLOORS,FRAME AND

1939 Pontiac Ghost Car commands $308,000 at auction

Mon, 01 Aug 2011

For the 1939 World's Fair, Pontiac built a Deluxe Six bodied in Plexiglass. Part of the Previews of Progress pavilion in which General Motors' Futurama showed off what was to come in the world of autos, the 'invisible' Pontiac is credited as the first transparent car in America. And there were no shortcuts taken with its body: the Plexiglass form was fabricated by the company that brought the material to market in 1933, Rohm & Haas.
The see-through sedan was sold at RM Auctions' St. John's auction in Michigan on July 30, fetching $308,000. Not bad appreciation for a domestic oddity that cost $25,000 to build when new. You can check out the high-res gallery of its innards, including copper and chrome metalwork and white moldings and wheels, and get the exhaustive details on it after the jump.

Watch as Hot Rod goes from El Paso to LA the hard way

Tue, 21 Feb 2012

There are few things simultaneously more romantic and idiotic than taking a road trip in a beaten-down heap of a car. Trust us. We know. David Freiburger and Mike Finnegan of Hot Rod Magazine fame recently undertook an epic trip from El Paso, Texas to Los Angeles with the express goal of doing so for under $1,500, including the purchase price of a vehicle, food, lodging, repairs and, most importantly, fuel. With this in mind, the duo settled on a 1972 Pontiac Catalina for a lofty $650. Hilarity ensues.
Realizing that no one actually wants a Catalina sulking around the shop, Freiburger and Finnegan put the car up for auction on eBay Motors the instant they had the title in hand. By the time they rolled into Hot Rod HQ, the vehicle sold for a little over $500.
The video is part of a new series called Roadkill that should document similar adventures. Keep your eyes peeled for more calamity-soaked clips in the near future. In the meantime, hit the jump to check it out yourself.

Hurst Edition Trans Am proves the Screaming Chicken will rise from the ashes

Wed, 31 Oct 2012

It seems the Pontiac Trans Am steadfastly refuses to die. Ever since Chevrolet was granted a retrofied Camaro to compete with the Ford Mustang, Pontiac lovers have lamented the loss of this 1970s icon. And, looking at the Hurst Edition from Trans Am Depot, shown here at the 2012 SEMA Show, may explain what all the fuss is about.
It's not going to appeal to everyone's muscle-car tastes, but there's certainly room for a brash-and-bold black-and-gold Special Edition in many a Trans Am lover's garage. After all, if you want the keys to a custom pony car, you'll certainly get noticed in this one. If this scheme isn't your bag,, you can alternatively order your Hurst Edition in white and gold or silver and black. Oh, and don't forget a color-coordinated Screaming Chicken on the hood.
No matter which way you choose to go, your inner Burt Reynolds will appreciate the Eibach suspension kit, forged wheels with Pirelli PZero tires, functional shaker hood, fender air extractors, rear spoiler and, of course, a Hurst shifter inside. The interior is emblazoned with all manner of special touches, including a Hurst dash plate and T/A stitching on the Katzkin two-tone leather seats.
