We have for auction a 1979 Pontiac Trans Am no rust Texas car. We replaced the 403 6.6 Engine with a 5.7 LS1 Engine .We used the drive train out of a late model GTO which had 8000 miles on it. This included the computer, the 4L60E overdrive tranny and the engine. We do still have the original #s matching engine and tranny which you will get with the car. I have put approx. 3000 miles on the car since the conversion so the drive train has under 12k miles on it. We did the conversion about 2 years ago and when we did we pulled the entire front clip down including the sub frame. It has new sub frame bushings, new Heidst tubular upper and lower control arms. The car had the factory 4 wheel disc brakes, we upgraded the calipers and rotors, all new pads and lines. The paint and was done about 6 years ago and was originally a brown car, interior about 5 years ago. The gold firebird on the hood was cleared over and looks great the rest of the decals were not cleared over. This is a T-top car and they are good working condition. All the factory gauges work accept the tach and speedo due to the conversion but I have always kept a Tom Tom GPS that has the speed and mileage on it. The car has had a professional tune on the computer so it runs really good, fast but still gets 20+mpg on the highway. This car is very reliable and could drive any distance. The tires are BF Goodrich and are like new less than 3000 miles on them and they are 275 60 15 on the back and 255 60 15 on the front. It has Flow master dual exhaust with no catalytic converters or O2 sensors. If you need any more pics or have any questions please don't hesitate to give us a call at 254-933-3596.

Airbag recall adds 85k Pontiac Vibes to tally

Fri, 13 Jun 2014

The repairs needed for the faulty airbag inflators supplied by Takata continue to expand. Toyota initially announced a recall of 766,300 vehicles equipped with the bad part on June 11 as a followup to a campaign from 2013. Soon after, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration opened a preliminary evaluation into five automakers who also used the component in their models. Now, NHTSA has released the official announcement of the latest Toyota recall listing 844,277 affected cars, including the newly added 2003-2004 Pontiac Vibe.
While NHTSA's document didn't include a model-by-model breakdown, General Motors spokesperson Alan Adler estimated to Autoblog that roughly 85,000 Vibes in the US would be covered under the latest recall. Like the rest of the affected models, the airbag inflator could rupture in a crash causing the bag not to work correctly, possibly spraying metal fragments at the occupant.
Toyota spokesperson Cindy Knight told Autoblog that the reason for the disparity between the earlier press release and NHTSA document was that Toyota was continuing to comb through VINs to create a list of affected vehicles. The original number was an estimate of that process at the time. Scroll down to the recall report from NHTSA.

Lutz dishes dirt on GM in latest Autoline Detroit

Bob Lutz sits down for Autoline Detroit - Click above to watch video after the jump
Autoline Detroit recently played host to Bob Lutz, and, as is always the case, the former General Motors vice chairman dished out some great commentary. Lutz was promoting his new book Car Guys vs. Bean Counters: The Battle for the Soul of American Business, and talk quickly turned to his role as it related to product development and high-level decision making at GM. While on the topic of brand management, Lutz revealed a few rather interesting tidbits about his former employer:
All Chevrolet vehicles were required to have five-spoke aluminum wheels and a chrome band up front, as part of the Bowtie brand's overall image.

GM recalling over 40,000 Chevy, Pontiac and Saturn models over fuel pump woes

Mon, 01 Oct 2012

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has issued a recall for a number of General Motors cars and crossovers bought or currently registered in the hot-climate states of Arkansas, Arizona, California, Nevada, Oklahoma and Texas. As many as 40,859 units consisting of the 2007 Chevrolet Equinox, Pontiac Torrent and Saturn Ion and the 2007-2009 Chevrolet Cobalt (shown) and its Pontiac G5 twin are being recalled for potential fuel leaks.
This recall is being issued due to potentially faulty fuel pump components that can crack and cause gasoline to leak from the return or supply ports and possibly cause a fire. NHTSA has not indicated how many fuel leaks or vehicle fires have been reported. As a fix, GM will replace the fuel pump modules on all affected vehicles free of charge. Since Pontiac and Saturn have been shuttered, owners will be able to go to another GM-brand dealership to have their vehicles repaired.
While the list of affected cars and crossovers varies by state and model year, if you own any of these models and live in Arizona, California, Florida, Nevada, Oklahoma or Texas, be sure to check the official notice below for more details.
