Up for sale is my 1987 Pontiac Firebird Formula. Car needs work. Almost all work needed is cosmetic. Needs seats recovered, new carpet, and some paint, and the dash has recently developed a crack. All mechanicals are in first rate condition. Engine is a GM Goodwrench 350 4 bolt, (not original engine), with several go fast goodies installed. Has an Edelbrock intake, a modified Q-Jet carb, Accel vacuum advance distributor, World Products Torquer S/R heads, Lunati 06103 cam, Edelbrock double roller timing chain, Melling HV55 oil pump and drive shaft, Edelbrock Tubular Exhaust System, Hi-Flo cat, Dynomax 3" cat back crossflow muffler exhaust. Entire brake system was overhauled three years ago. Stainless hard lines, stainless braided hoses, new booster, new master cylinder, new front calipers with 2 3/4" pistons and slotted disks. Entire front suspension was overhauled as well. All new ball joints, struts, inner and outer tie rods, center link and idler arm. It has the original 700r4 trans with a mild B&M shift kit, and has original 9 bolt Aussie rear with 2.77 gears and disk brakes. Car runs and drives excellent. I am changing hobbies and would like this car to go to a good home. There must still be some third gen enthusiasts out there looking for a 1987 Formula.

Automakers tussle over owners of 'orphan' makes
Thu, 10 May 2012When General Motors put down several of its brands in recent years, it also let loose thousands of brand-loyal customers who will eventually need another car.
R.L. Polk Associates estimates there are more than 18 million cars from 16 discontinued makes on the road today. Those "orphan owners" have sales-hungry competitors seeing dollar signs. GM is offering Saturn owners $1,000 cash toward a Chevy Cruze, Cadillac CTS or a GMC Acadia. Ford is giving its Mercury lease customers a chance to get out of their contracts with no early-termination penalty and offering to waive six remaining payments if they drive off in a Ford or Lincoln.
Edmunds.com research shows the efforts are paying off somewhat for GM, with 39 percent of Pontiac owners, 37 percent of Hummer owners and 31 percent of Saturn owners taking delivery of another GM-branded vehicle. But that leaves as much as 69 percent of owners going elsewhere. Ford, Honda and Toyota seem to be attracting many former GM owners.
GM recalling 8.4M cars, 8.2M related to ignition problems
Mon, 30 Jun 2014General Motors today announced a truly massive recall covering some 8.4 million vehicles in North America. Most significantly, 8.2 million examples of the affected vehicles are being called back due to "unintended ignition key rotation," though GM spokesperson Alan Adler tells Autoblog that this issue is not like the infamous Chevy Cobalt ignition switch fiasco.
For the sake of perspective, translated to US population, this total recall figure would equal a car for each resident of New Hampshire, Rhode Island, Montana, Delaware, South Dakota, Alaska, North Dakota, the District of Columbia, Vermont and Wyoming. Combined. Here's how it all breaks down:
7,610,862 vehicles in North America being recalled for unintended ignition key rotation. 6,805,679 are in the United States.
Pontiac Firebird in latest Generation Gap scrap
Tue, 30 Sep 2014Generation Gap is mining the Lingenfelter collection again this week to compare two very different interpretations of the Pontiac Firebird. An original 1968 example goes toe-to-toe with a 2010 Lingenfelter Trans Am to see whether the old man or the modern re-imagining takes the crown.
Being from the Lingenfelter collection, both cars are absolutely immaculate. The '68 packs a Pontiac 350-cubic-inch (5.7-liter) V8 with a claimed 320 horsepower and some classic, muscular style with a hood-mounted tach. Plus, it's painted in an understated shade of green that you don't usually see.
In the other corner is Lingenfelter's pumped-up take on the classic shape based on the modern Camaro, and this is just one of six concept versions ever made. It wears an eye-catching, vintage-inspired livery of blue with a white stripe package. Under its shaker hood is a 455-cubic-inch (7.5-liter) V8 with a reported 655 hp and 610 pound-feet of torque.
