1970 Pontiac Firebird

I was told that I am the third owner of this lifetime Georgia car.  It is a 1970 Pontiac Firebird with the numbers matching 350 and automatic transmission.  The color is Quazel Gold with a tan interior and cream seats.  2nd gen 1970's are rare and tough to find.

It is an entire car with all parts, trim, brackets, etc.  Supposedly it was parked for 25 years before I purchased it.  The car is perfect to do a Formula 400 clone, pro-tour with 18" wheels and suspension upgrades, or put it back original.  I have never started or driven the car, so who knows what might happen if you tune it up and try to get it going.  My plans were to pro-tour it with all of the current upgrades that are popular.

The body is in good shape, but it will need some sheetmetal work once you sand or blast the body.  I am not sure what it might need, so make your own decisions based on the pictures or feel free to come take a look at it.  These cars are rare and very hard to find still completely put together.  That's the beauty of this car.  You won't be searching for parts or pieces.  All sheetmetal is readily available.

If you win the auction, I expect you to buy the car.  It is sold in "as-is" condition.  Make sure you are comfortable with the car before you bid on it.  It is for sale locally, so I reserve the right to end the auction early.  I do not have a title because Georgia does not issue them for cars that are this old.  The buyer will receive a bill of sale and a copy of the current registration.

No calls after 10pm eastern time.

GM expands ignition switch recall to over 1.3 million cars amid climbing death toll

Tue, 25 Feb 2014

588,000 Saturn Sky, Saturn Ion, Pontiac Solstice and Chevy HHR models join the 778,000 cars already being recalled.
General Motors has announced a massive expansion of a 778,000-unit recall we told you about two weeks ago, doubling not only the total number of cars affected but expanding the recall beyond Chevrolet Cobalt and Pontiac G5 models previously mentioned. The recall originally centered around ignition switches that could slip out of the "run" position if jostled or if any weight was applied to the key in the cylinder.

Lutz says GM was working on 5th-gen Pontiac GTO

Thu, 08 Aug 2013

Bob Lutz was one of the forces behind bringing the Holden Monaro to the United States, as the ill-fated Pontiac GTO in 2004. And while that car received critical acclaim, it was a sales disappointment. Now, Road & Track is reporting that our suspicions were correct - Pontiac was working on a two-door, G8-based coupe before it was shuttered.
In that R&T article, which is no longer available online, Lutz explained that the new GTO would solve many of the issues found in the original. Car Advice speculates that the new model would have look like a rebadged version of the Holden Coupe 60 Concept from 2008, a conclusion we also came to.
That car would have been a big departure from the 2004 to 2006 GTO. It has an extremely long hood and short rear deck, with an almost fastback roofline and a wide greenhouse with a tall beltline. The wheel arches were very pronounced, and the chin and rocker panel splitters gave it a race-ready look. Would it have been enough to make the GTO work in the US? We think it might of, but it looks like we'll never know.

NHTSA could add 1M cars to GM recall

Wed, 13 Mar 2013

The Detroit Free Press is reporting that the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration may expand a recall campaign for faulty brake lamps. The agency is currently looking into complaints that certain 2004-2011 Chevrolet Malibu models as well as some 2007-2009 Saturn Aura sedans may have brake lights that do not illuminate when the driver presses the pedal. Alternatively, the lamps may also illuminate without input from the driver. General Motors recalled 8,000 Pontiac G6 models from the 2005 model year for the same problem, and NHTSA is currently investigating whether to add 550,000 more G6 models built between 2005 and 2009 to the list for the same issue.
In addition, investigators are currently examining 97 complaints from Malibu and Aura owners with the same trouble. If NHTSA adds those models to the recall campaign, more than one million units could be covered. GM, meanwhile, says there have been no accidents or injuries as a result of the problem.
