This 1969 Plymouth Road Runner 2 Door Hardtop was assembled at the Los Angeles Plant. It's spent it's life in Southern California. I bought is from a collector that owns a chain of grocery stores.  He took a straight rust free So. Cal car and did a total ground up restoration on it. The car is clinically restored. He spent over $11K on the engine alone.  Its Numbers Matching Engine 383 4 Barrel has a hydrolic roller cam shaft, adjustable roller rockers and 10:1 Compression JD Pistons. They upgraded the carb to a new performance Edelbrock carb.  The work was all finished recently by a famous mechanic that worked with Boyd Coddington in Whittier.  He said it's been dyno'd at over 500 horse power.  The paint is Factory R6 Red and I can't find a flaw.  I'd say a 9.8 outta 10. The upholstery is super nice brought back to new stock interior.  The car has its rebuilt and upgraded Dana 60 transmission with the Hurst shifter.  The interior with new or perfect black headliner, door panels, dash pad, carpet, seat upholstery, steering wheel, etc.The owner didn't exactly like all the power the car had in the end. He said he was a Chevy guy and now got the Mopar power out of his system. This car is a show car with great drivability, awesome handling and reliability.  Milage on the odometer says 90,842 miles, but what you are bidding on is actually a less than 400 mile better than new car. I have nothing negative I can say about the car.  It needs nothing to be show worthy.  I know the guy I bought it from was well over $50K into the car. I lucked out and was offered the car while buying a 65 Lincoln convertible from the owners nephew.  I saw it and couldn't go home without it.  The truth is I have a lot a cars that I keep either at the Torrance airport or home. I like to change cars regularly and 2 years would be on the very long side. I picked my kids up from school ages 4 and 7, and they weren't liking this car much.  It's is burly and grumbles like none of my other cars.  They complained about how loud it was, but the nail in the coffin is when I gunned it!  I guess you have to be a certain kinda man to embrace all that power. My kids weren't happy, therefore it's just going to sit in my hanger if I don't sell it.  I reserve the right to end this auction at anytime because friends may trade or buy it outside ebay. I am always looking for big Mopar convertibles from mid 50's to 1975. If you have questions or wanna schedule a showing, call 310-259-5195.  Thanks for looking.

Barrett-Jackson 2014: 1970 Plymouth Hemi Superbird passes half a million dollars

Sat, 18 Jan 2014

The Plymouth Superbird is one of those classic American cars from the muscle car era that has captured the imagination of all sorts of automotive enthusiasts long after its presence on roads and race tracks wore away. It's easy to see why. Where else but in the Swingin' Sixties and Seventies would a car leave the factory with an aerodynamics package that included a pointy beak and a rear spoiler that sat several feet above the rear deck?
The example you see above, which was born in 1970, is one of the finest Superbirds we've ever seen. Combine its complete restoration with its original 426 Hemi engine, and it's no surprise that it managed to bring in a cool half million dollars (plus 10 percent in fees) at Barrett-Jackson. See it yourself in our high-res image gallery above, and scroll down below for the official auction description.

SRT belatedly claims Plymouth Prowler as one of its own

Wed, 19 Dec 2012

Before Chrysler had Street and Racing Technology, it had Performance Vehicle Operations. What the two entities have in common, before SRT became its own brand, of course, is that each was created to take Chrysler and Dodge (and Plymouth, before it was unceremoniously killed off) vehicles to the next level of style and performance.
We'll leave the question of whether or not the old Plymouth (and later Chrysler) Prowler was ultimately a stylish, performance-oriented car to you, but the boys and girls currently leading the SRT charge at the Pentastar headquarters are keen to accept the retro-rod into the fold.
According to the automaker, all of SRT's current high-performance models owe a debt of gratitude to the old Prowler, due mostly to that car's use of lightweight bits and pieces and innovative construction techniques. If nothing else, the fact that the Prowler's frame is "the largest machined automotive part in history" is pretty cool. Read all the details here.

US Marshal's classic muscle car auction officially in the books

Thu, 25 Sep 2014

The US Marshal's so-called Blood Muscle Auction was completed earlier this month, with the prestigious nine-car field (two cars were added following Autoblog's initial story, a 1970 Chevrolet Chevelle SS 454 and a rare, mid-restoration 1971 Plymouth Hemi 'Cuda) finding new and hopefully law-abiding owners.
While we'd normally recap the stars of the show, in this particular auction, every car's sale was newsworthy. The full list of sale prices doesn't seem to be published, but according to The New York Times, the auction brought in a total of $2.5 million, or an average of about $277,000 per car.
The king of the contest seems to be a 1970 Plymouth Superbird (above, right), complete with a 426-cubic-inch Hemi V8, which brought home $575,000. The trio of Yenko Chevys, meanwhile, all easily cleared the six-figure mark, with the Yenko Camaro (above, far right) clearing $315,000, the Chevelle crossing the block for $237,500 and the supremely rare - one of just 37 - Yenko Nova (shown above, left) selling for an even $400,000.
