A PORTION OF THIS SALE IS GOING TO CHARITY

1989 Nissan Pickup (D21), 5 speed manual, 2.4L, 2 wheel rear drive, truck bed XL custom raised cap.

I get about 25 MPG in it.  Its in excellent shape, just over 109,000 actual miles, garage kept its entire life until a couple years ago when I acquired it.  To explain how well kept this truck was by th eprevious owner, when the stock radio had a malfunction and quit working, he went to the Nissan dealership and ordered and had professionally installed the original stereo.  This was only a few years before I bought it.  He had some damage from leaning on the driver's side door arm rest and went to a professional car interior repair company and had one fabricated to match the original.  This truck is the best running vehicle I have ever owned and I would absolutely truct it to drive across country and back, and back again, with no worries.  He also had brand new tires put on it right when I bought it, so they have about 7,000 miles on them (and they have been rotated at 5,000).

I bought it from this friend whom owned it for many years, yet hardly drove due to illness.  He has since passed and it is no longer suited for my family.  Bought about 2 years ago and took it for its 100,000 mile inspection (it was at 102,000 miles) at the Nissan dealership.  I had them do the entire inspection and do all maintenance, even if it wasn't in need.  The bill totalled $1,425.

The following has been done to maintain its quality, since I bought it:

  • Oil change/filter/lube
  • new turn signal bulbs and brake indicator button
  • new ignition switch
  • new spark plugs/wires
  • new fuel filter
  • flushed radiator
  • replaced intake gasket
  • valve cover gasket
  • manifold gaskets
  • transmission flushed
  • rotated tires
  • repaired and charged A/C
  • new rear brake shoes and drums
  • and new rear wheel cylinders

I have receipts for all of this, I believe.  Honestly it is the best running truck I have ever owned and has never had a problem. Starts right up every time regardless of weather and never had to repair a thing (just maintenance above).  The heater blows hot and the air conditioner blows ice cold.  Everything works, and it is a huge gas saver.  I get about 25 miles per gallon in it.  NADA estimate with custom cap is $3,900 to $5,250, and I would honestly rate it around the $5,000 mark... but this auction will not have a reserve.  It is however for sale locally, so I do have the right to end the auction early.  Any questions let me know.

In order to give complete and full disclosure of the vehicle, I do know of two things (cosmetically) that are wrong.  The vents in the dash have a thin plastic frame around them.  They are old and brittle, which caused them to crack and break.  I took them off when I bought the truck with intention of replacing them, but never did.  You can see them in the pictures of the two side vents.  Also, as far as I can tell the ashtray has never been used.  I am a non-smoker and so was my friend whom owned it for many years.  Another thing I noticed a few weeks ago was a small dent, about the size of a nickel, in the edge of the hood.  You can also see this in the picture of the hood.  There is no paint damage or anything, and I beleive it could be popped out rather easily.

BTW... it even has the owners manual, paperwork for the tires, and even the radio manual.

Chinese-designed Nissan Lannia Concept debuts in Beijing

Mon, 21 Apr 2014

Nissan showed off a stylish new concept car to the assembled crowds of media at the Beijing Motor Show. The Lannia Concept is... well, it's not that easy to describe. It's kind of a sedan, only it looks a bit like a fastback from the rear. But for a twist, it has an ever-so-small rear deck. Regardless of how we'd classify it, it's a seriously sharp piece of styling, thanks to its unique shape and flowing character lines.
If the Lannia's styling appears familiar, it's because we've sort of seen it before. There's more than a little bit of inspiration from the Friend-Me Concept. The Lannia's overall shape is similar to the Friend-Me, while both the front and rear clips look decidedly more production ready. Considering this evolution, we shouldn't rule out a production Lannia in the next few years. And if Nissan's product boss, Andy Palmer is any indication, the new model might not be limited to China.
"It was designed by Chinese, built by Chinese for the Chinese people, and ultimately, for the world," Palmer said in a statement. If Nissan can keep this sharp styling, this could prove a compelling buy in a number of markets.

Daimler and Nissan to build luxury cars at new plant in Mexico

Thu, 05 Sep 2013

A few years back, when Daimler was looking for a partner to spread the cost of development of small cars, it agreed to collaborate with Nissan on future products, such as vehicle platforms and drivetrains. The latest development in the collaboration concerns the assembly of small luxury cars for Infiniti and Mercedes-Benz at a Nissan plant in Mexico, two unnamed sources told Reuters.
The plant in question, Aguascalientes, is a $2 billion project that will open later this year next to an existing Nissan factory. The upcoming Infiniti Q30 four-door hatchback is expected to be built there, possibly alongside the Mercedes GLA-Class, which is one of several candidates Mercedes is considering to build at this facility, Reuters reports. The GLA will debut at the Frankfurt Motor Show this month, and initial production of the model will take place in Germany. The Q30 could follow a similar path, with assembly starting at Nissan's Sunderland plant in the UK, and then expanding to Aguascalientes later on.
The underlying platform of the Q30 and GLA, codenamed New Generation Compact Car (NGCC), was developed by Daimler. The Q30 would be the first Infiniti produced under the automakers' agreement. Last year, Nissan agreed to make engines that would find their way into Mercedes and Infiniti vehicles.

2014 Nissan Dayz Roox is the littlest high-roof van you ever did see

Fri, 22 Nov 2013

Even average production cars from Japan often seem very conceptual to US eyes. Throw in typical, nonsensical-quasi-English-words name like "Dayz Roox" and you'd be forgiven for thinking this Nissan box on wheels was still a designer's dream. But the fact is that the Nissan Dayz is a model currently on sale, and this Roox version is the latest take on the micro-van, which is a popular segment in Japan.
In fact, this generation of Dayz is the first minicar that Nissan has developed completely in-house, and the thing has been selling astoundingly well in its first stint on the market (30k units in month one month, says Nissan). So it's unsurprising that the company is looking to expand the range with a model that is more fully featured.
The Roox (we have no clue as to where that name came from, or what it means) would appear to be a high-roof version of the three-cylinder Dayz minicar - in fact Nissan goes so far as to call it an "Impressive Super Height Wagon." Features like automatic sliding doors, Around View Monitor and UV-insulated glass are all luxuries in kei-class car. The press release also specifies that the Roox is tall enough to swallow a 27-inch bicycle.
