Nissan Skyline Gts-t Type M 1991 / Mostly Stock / Never Driven In Winter on 2040-cars
Carlisle, Pennsylvania, United States
Auction Ends Monday April 28, 9:00pm EST , 6:00pm PST
Helping a friend sell a 1991 Nissan Skyline GTS-T R32 Type M. This is arguably one of the most sought after exotic Japanese supercars to be offered for sale in the US. EBay does not have a category for this car, so I placed it in the closest one available. It is basically a stock version with the following mods: Aftermarket parts that came with it from Japan:
Aftermarket parts installed by previous owner:

Mechanically, absolutely everything works on the car. 2 warning lights seen in the pics indicate a parking brake and a door open. Car has excellent compression, does not leak any fluids, no strange or unusual noises, and does not smoke. Primary tach is in-op, however the RPM's are correctly regsitered on the Apexi airflow converter. Oil changes are done using the best and most advanced synthetic oil on the market, Royal Purple. Odometer reads in KM, but the conversion to miles is X .62 . Cosmetic there are just a couple items to point out. Along the left side it appears the car brushed up against a white object (see pics below). This blemish is found just above the front wheel, just ahead of the rear wheel and a bit by the back bumper. It's hard to see from the pics taken 10ft out, but closeups will indicate this. Also, there is some light fading around the fuel cap that is also seen in the pics. The paint is original and for some buyers add value, so I'll leave it up to the new owner on fixing or just re painting with the buyer's choice of color. Car was originally in southern Japan (salt free) and once delivered to North America, garaged during winters. I believe these high resolution pictures to be quite accurate in representing the car and are consistent with the age and mileage of this car. This Skyline is a grey market vehicle, meaning it was never intended to be driven in the United States. The buyer will receive a clear PA title. Although a title and registration can be obtained in most states, this car does not meet Federal Emissions or Motor Vehicle Safety Standards (FMVSS) and is therefore recommended for export or off-road/track use only. VIN # is HCR32258012. It is rather unlikely the car will be financed through traditional lending sources. If seeking a car loan, or any loan for that matter, please ensure you are approved prior to bidding. I will not accept finance problems as a way to back out of the winning bid. The car is currently located in metro- Detoit, MI, but will be shipped via truck to Carlisle, PA towards the end of auction. Therefore, the car will be available for inspection in Carlisle. Please contact me for exact dates. Although titled, the car is not registered for US roads, so the winning bidder will need to keep that in mind when purchasing the car. I'm not excited about delivering the car, but can do so via private truck/trailer if need be. If you are thinking of having the car delivered, please contact me prior to bidding to discuss the details. As the seller will not be the one delivering the car, it will need to be paid in full prior to leaving. Closest airport to fly into is MDT and will provide free airport transportation to car. Tickets are fairly cheap on priceline, and given the age of the vehicle, would recommend all interested bidders in coming out to have a look. Payment terms: 1/2 of purchase price due within 3 days of the close of auction with the balance due within 14 days or at time of pick up. Will accept bank to bank wire or cash (in person of course) only. Paypal is required in order to bid but not accepted as a form of payment. eBay messages also come straight to my Smart phone, so I can respond very quickly. Nissan reveals the face of the new Qashqai
Mon, 04 Nov 2013Last week Nissan revealed the first teaser image previewing its upcoming new Qashqai. That one was wearing a big sheet and showed us little other than its basic shape and a few highlighted details, but now the Japanese automaker has released the first undisguised-ish image of the new European-market crossover.
From the image above we can tell the new Qashqai will carry the familiar face of Nissan's latest crossovers well, with the U-shaped grille and angular LED accents in the headlamp clusters. The sharp creases in the hood also make it stand out as quintessentially Japanese, particularly in a crossover market where they can all start to look the same.
We'll have to wait just a few more days to see the full thing, with the reveal set for November 7, but Nissan also released a tidy infographic showing just how successful the outgoing Qashqai has been for it in the European market. Check it out below.
Nissan settles with FTC over misleading dune buggy ad [w/videos]
Fri, 24 Jan 2014A couple years ago, Nissan created a series of commercials for its compact Frontier pickup showing the truck performing outlandish stunts such as snowboarding, saving a passenger airplane from a crash landing and climbing a steep sand dune to help a stranded dune buggy. As crazy as the first two commercials were, the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) took issue with the latter, titled Hill Climb, with the agency considering it to be a misleading commercial since both vehicles required a cable to reach the top of the steep dune.
As such, Ad Age is reporting that Nissan - and its ad agency TBWA Worldwide - has settled with the FTC over the ad despite the fact that it features a disclaimer stating: "Fictionalization. Do not attempt." Nissan did not have to pay out any money in the settlement, but it is prohibited "from using potentially misleading demonstrations in future advertisements for pickups." In addition to the offending commercial, posted below, we've included some of the other related videos from the same Frontier campaign.
Nissan: We lose money on each Leaf replacement battery
Thu, 24 Jul 2014Nissan has been playing its cards pretty close to its chest when it comes to the production costs for Leaf battery packs. The company recently put a price on replacement batteries for customers at $5,500 plus the requirement to return the old battery. If the decommissioned battery is worth $1,000 to Nissan, as they have stated, that means the battery costs about $6,500 to make, right? Maybe even less if Nissan wants to turn a profit, as automakers are wont to do? Wrong.
Green Car Reports spoke to Nissan about these battery costs, and found that the automaker actually loses money on selling the replacement battery for the Leaf at the current price. Jeff Kuhlman, Nissan's vice president of global communications said, "Nissan makes zero margin on the replacement program. In fact, we subvent every exchange." All you English majors will know that "subvent" is a fancy way to say "subsidize." Kuhlman added, though, "We have yet to sell one battery as part of the program."
The fact that Nissan offers its replacement batteries for less than it costs to manufacture them is telling of a company both cares about what its customer needs and is dedicated to the success of its product. In this case, both of those things encourage people to give up fossil fuels and adopt electric mobility, which is heartening. As more people switch to battery-powered driving, though, battery technology should become better and cheaper, and the scale of production should cause manufacturing costs to decrease. Eventually, Nissan could easily see itself breaking even selling the Leaf battery replacements.
