2005 - Nissan 350z on 2040-cars
Sanford, Texas, United States
This is the perfect car for your pleasure driving, (or perhaps for your college student at the University of Texas in Austin, if they deserve it). The miles are so low, it is essentially a new car. It is super clean, inside and out. When brand new, these are 48 k$ cars, but you can have this one for less than half, in like new condition. The color is gorgeous: metallic sunset orange, similar to the Corvette "atomic orange" that they had several years ago. The rear spoiler really makes the profile look good. A six speed manual transmission hooked to the V-6, big Brembo brakes and great rubber make this an orange batmobile. It is a pleasure to drive, and has classic lines (not like the overly street-racer looking 370Zs) This car has always been garage-kept under a custom cover, and driven only on beautiful days. It has been in a light rain once ever. Prior to my ownership, the owner only took it to weekend events and shows, and never washed it with a hose (likely only a bottle of windex). Now I have indeed washed it a few times. It has only been pampered. I drive it ocassionally between New Braunfels and Austin on the tollroad. Otherwise it sees only pleasure driving. This is a no-hit, no fender bender, clean original car. The engine bay is clean. The headlight covers are crystal clear, you only see that in covered well cared for vehicles. It has had a few oil changes, just for time, not miles. Synthetic oil. It starts smoothly, shifts smoothly, and drives like a dream. The winner will get a wonderful car. KellyBlueBook lists this car as $19.982, but you won't find another with this low mileage, even in more recent model years for 350Z's or even 370Z's. Includes a custom car cover. Includes, from the previous owner, custom orange leather shifter boot and armrests (I like the clean black look of the cabin, so I never installed them). Any questions, call Matt at 830-708-2832

Nissan Titan Wounded Warrior project lands in time for Veteran's Day
Tue, 11 Nov 2014We last featured the crowdsourced Project Titan pickup back in September, back when Nissan revealed that its big, bruising custom pickup would take to the wilds of Alaska with a pair of veterans from the Wounded Warrior Project at the wheel.
Now, their journey across the wilds has been fully revealed as part of a 22-minute short film. David Guzman and Kevin McMahon are the pilots of the brutish truck, and while the film is ostensibly focused on the journey and the challenges that come with it, the release of the video on Veterans Day (Remembrance Day or Armistice Day, depending on where you're from), gives some indication to the dominant theme of the story - recovery.
The two travel across Alaska in the Titan on different missions, working with both veterans and civilians afflicted with post-traumatic stress disorder, as well as supporters of the Wounded Warrior Project. From the avalanche-surviving photographer who's suffering from PTSD to an Air Force veteran who routinely takes recovering vets on fishing trips, the pair experience the many efforts at recovery and support throughout the course of the missions and their journey.
Datsun debuts new seven-seat Go+ in Indonesia [w/video]
Wed, 18 Sep 2013The Datsun name may have long since been replaced by Nissan, but the old brand is making a comeback - in certain markets, at least. Nissan relaunched the Datsun brand in July as its new budget brand for developing markets with the debut of the Go hatchback, and has now followed up with the addition of the larger Go+.
Set to be built in Indonesia at Nissan's plant in Purwakarta, the Go+ debuts today in the capital of Jakarta as the second model in the new Datsun lineup. The seven-passenger minivan features flexible seating in a compact form 13 feet long, powered by an unspecified 1.2-liter engine mated to a five-speed manual transmission.
Nissan isn't saying much else about the model, but hopes the new Datsun twins will account for half of its sales in Indonesia within three years. The low price target for both models - set to come in at less than 100 million rupiah ($8,700) - ought to help it get there. The lineup is then scheduled to reach other markets, starting with India, Russia and South Africa next year.
Teen attempts car jump, hits windshield and lands on his feet
Tue, 11 Jun 2013I've been compelled to do many things in or around a car, but jumping over one has never quite made the cut. That may be because I have all of the vertical lift of a manatee, but I digress. One enterprising young soul recently looked at a friend's Nissan Sentra and thought, "You know, I can totally leap right over that roof line."
By using what can only be described as Herculean feats of persuasion, he talked one young female friend into driving said Nissan straight for him at around 40 miles per hour while another stood by to film the lunacy. The plan went swimmingly right up until our would be compact-vaulter caught his foot on the hood and bounced into the windshield. Whoops.
But the story doesn't end with a trip to the emergency room. Our hero spun mid-air and actually managed to get his feet under him before coming back to Earth. Impressive. You can watch the hilarity for yourself below, but please, don't even think about trying this yourself.
